A special 'Animal Blessing Service' will be held at Crowle Methodist Church at 2pm on Sunday September 29th to which families with domestic pets are invited to attend. The first such Pets Service was held at the Chapel in Fieldside 12 months ago and proved popular with adults and children alike with more than a dozen animals turning up including Billy the Budgie! This time it is hoped Dillon the donkey will also be present as his owners had to miss the occasion last year due to a slight setback. A Chapel spokesperson said: "Everyone is invited to come along and bring their pet, whether it's on a lead, in a cage or even a goldfish bowl."

We’ve launched Humber Talking as our way of connecting with the people we serve. We are inviting them to have a conversation with us about what matters to them, what they are worried about, how they want us to tackle the issues that concern them and how they want to be involved with that. Teams of neighbourhood police officers and PCSO’s will be knocking on doors and asking residents to answer a few short questions. They will record the answers through the My Community Alerts system, which will analyse the results so that the information can be quickly fed back into the local team and help to shape their priorities. If the issues being raised are within the remit of partner agencies, such as local authorities, health services etc then we will pass on the information to those organisations. If you are keen to get involved now you can access the survey by following this link: www.mycommunityalert.co.uk/humbertalking By following the link you can also sign up to My Community Alert – a free messaging service where you receive alerts from Humberside Police about local issues. Complete our survey today and be part of the conversation.

Shine School Media Awards 2019 The AX NEWS team had been shortlisted for a Shine School Media Award which took place after a tough and rigorous judging session. Mrs Cox had decided to enter this competition back in April which the team were unaware of; so when the news came through that we had been shortlisted Mrs Cox couldn’t wait to inform the team which came as great surprise. The only sad thing was that the whole team couldn’t attend this prestigious event as there were limited numbers so names had to be drawn out of a hat to make it fair along with two of the students which had already been chosen because their articles have been highlighted in the shortlist. Five students were chosen to travel down to London on the train with Mr Sellars and Mrs Cox. We were invited to the prize-giving ceremony at Stationers’ Hall, London on the 1st July 2019. The day ran from 10am - 2.30pm, and students had time to listen to some inspirational speakers about the power of the written word, before lunch and the ceremony itself. Despite being up against students in 6th Forms and a lot of fee paying schools we were delighted to be shortlisted in the Best Newspaper Front Page category and to receive a 'Highly Commended' award in the Best Newspaper Award category at the ceremony. Our students were presented with a beautiful decorative scroll to mark their achievements. Our school has done incredibly well to receive this commendation and I am very proud of all the team and all their hard work and dedication they have put in to the newspaper. Mrs Cox AX NEWS
The Noise Academy
On Monday 1st July 15 students attended the Noise Academy at The Baths Hall, Scunthorpe. Students explored beat boxing, DJing and Music Production skills. The whole experience was enjoyed by all and we are looking forward to the Noise Academy coming to visit the Axholme Academy in the future.
