Welcome to the August issue of the Crowle and Eland Arrow.
It seems a long time ago since March 2020; the lockdown in the UK! We are now in the Summer holidays, and the UK seems to be moving into a stage of near normality. Most people are back at work, home schooling is now at an end, and I think like myself all parents with young children will be happy to see the kids back at school, college and university in September! We are pleased to say advertisers are still supporting the Arrow and we welcome new customers every month. The big event in July took on a virtual aspect this year; Rescue Day 2020. If you would like to see the virtual experience check them out on facebook. There is a link to donate to the charities they support. Next years date is already set and they are taking bookings for stalls. The Arrow is looking forward to receiving your news articles and any social distancing events or virtual events you may have. Keep your articles coming in. Its important to keep the community spirit going!
ADDLESEE SKIP HIRE House & Yard Clearance Also FENCE PANELS Concrete Posts, Gravel Boards, Slabs etc.
The deadline for the September issue is Friday 14th August for delivery by Sunday 30th August. Enjoy the read and keep safe!

Community News A great big SHOUT OUT FOR ALL THOSE INVOLVED WITH FUNDRAISING FOR KEADBY COVID WITH MASSIVE THANKS TO THE CURTIS FAMILY, Nicky ,Sam and their children. They have been on the front line in collecting, packing and distributing food parcels, Easter gifts, VE Day goodies and even doing shopping for those who have been isolating. I would love them to receive some sort of volunteer Award. They have made this strange time seem a little more bearable. The pictures are of Sam delivering the VE Day picnic to Day Close, Keadby to the pensioners who were shielding.. ONCE AGAIN WELL DONE TO ALL INVOLVED.
Isle of Axholme Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust Group We normally have local monthly meetings from October to May each year but because of Coronavirus everything has changed. We don't know what the situation will be in the next few months but when it is safe to resume indoor meetings we will let you know via the Arrow and the Lincolnshire Trust website. However we can still enjoy the countryside and watch out for the wildlife that is all around. If you need any more information you can contact Tony Lee on 01427 753831 or Chris Trinder on 01427 872051
Thankyou Patricia and Stuart Lodge 2 of the grateful recipients ....❤❤

The tea room has also opened for take-out options from a limited menu to begin with. Due to current covid-19 restrictions all indoor play areas are closed, but at Boston Park Farm we are still a traditional working farm, our animal trail allows children to get up close with a wide range of farm animals. You can pet and feed most of the animals and every day we have animal handling sessions. The whole experience is geared to suit children up to around 10 years old. We have the fabulous Maize Maze to explore, outdoor play equipment, mud kitchens and the bale pyramid. Make sure you visit our Tractor Track and race around on our brandnew go karts! You and your child can have hours of fun exploring everything we have to offer here at the farm. Remember to ensure our visitor numbers remain at the right level and keep everyone safe you MUST pre-book your tickets via our website: www.bostonpark.com

Shine School Media Awards 2020 I am delighted to report that the AX NEWS team have won two awards and received a ‘Highly Commended’ in the Shine School Media Awards annual competition. The virtual prerecorded ceremony took place on Monday 29th June and the AX NEWS received the following awards: Highly Commended: Best Newspaper Front Page Winner: Best Print & Design (We will receive a training workshop from the British Printing Industries Federation) Comment from Judge - Neil Lovell: 'Well put together and thought through publication mirroring the traditional local news format and a pretty complete publication in his view'. Winner: Best Newspaper (3 students will go to Times Educational Supplement in London for a winners workshop) Comment from Judges: 'Fulfilled the function of a newspaper with its professionalism & expertise in its traditional design, clean layout, engaging newsy school content and connection to the local community; it's a very worthy winner of the Best Newspaper'. Mr Keogh and Mrs Cox want to congratulate the AX NEWS team for their hard work, creativity and dedication to the newspaper project; this is fantastic news and all the students who contributed should be extremely proud of themselves. This is a great achievement to win these awards at such a prestigious event but this would not be possible without Tim Greenfield from the University of Lincoln https://www.theschoolnewspaper.co.uk/ for supporting us over the past 9 years and Mortons Print Limited.

Restaurants and other establishments serving food for on premises consump on can now sign up to a new government ini a ve aimed at protec ng jobs in the hospitality industry and encouraging people to safely return to dining out. The Eat Out to Help Out registra on page is live on GOV.UK, allowing businesses to join the scheme announced in July by Rishi Sunak MP, Chancellor of the Exchequer. Restaurants, bars, cafes and other establishments who use the scheme will offer a 50% reduc on, up to a maximum of £10 per person, to all diners who eat and/or drink‐in throughout August. Customers do not need a voucher as par cipa ng establishments will just remove the discount from their bill. Businesses simply reclaim the discounted amount through an online service, supported by HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). Claims can be made on a weekly basis and will be paid into bank accounts within five working days. The scheme is open to eligible establishments across the UK and can be used all day, every Monday to Wednesday, between 3 and 31 August 2020.
