Editors Letter… This month due to space I have replaced the usual editors letter with news of
EPWORTH EXPOSED, two
calendars launched for #TEAMVERRICO-Isle folk as you have never seen them before, both male and female versions!
Crowle & Ealands mayor poses for a charity calendar Paul says: “Can I just say its quite a nerve wrecking thing to do and done with the blessing of North Lincs democratic Services and Standards Board to ensure allowable. I know not all will fall over themselves to approve, however the point of this is to raise awareness and if it raises any extra money to help save someone's life then to me that is much more important as a life is too important to do nothing. I hope people will appreciate that.” If you would like to purchase a calendar, they are available from the 29th November from The Crowle Emporian, Crowle or Epworth based shops include Sunspot Hair and Beauty, NE1 Clothing, Isle Lose It, Meters to Miles, Albion Hill Bakery, and JD’s Café. Please donate whatever you can to #teamverrico via PayPal here: http://calls9.com/teamverrico/ The deadline for the January issue is Wednesday 11th December. Keep your articles coming in and if anyone is interested in advertising please give me a call. Wishing all our readers a Merry Christmas. News, News, News, News, News, News, News, News, News... Dillon, the donkey, will be the star attraction at a special familyfriendly Carol Service to be held at Crowle Methodist Church at 2.30pm on Sunday 22nd December. The Christmas service featuring a real live donkey in chapel will be taken by the Rev Duncan McBean who admits working with animals is not something he’s had much experience of but is looking forward to the challenge. He says: “We wanted to do something different for young families and we are inviting local infant schools and playgroups to come along and join in the fun. Everyone is welcome. “Hopefully it will help to spread the real meaning behind Christmas. There will also be refreshments for visitors.” Dillon, owned by Mrs Susan Owen of Epworth Turbary, has already proved a draw at Epworth Methodist Church where he is part of a tableau located outside the church each Christmas, and will be back again this year.
A Christmas calendar featuring scenes and events throughout the year at Crowle has been produced by a pensioner and his granddaughter to help raise money for a local charity. Retired journalist and author Roy Briggs, teamed up with 16 year old student Emily Briggs to take a series of colour photographs which make up the 2014 calendar which is now on sale.
All profits from the venture will go to Crowle & Ealand Regeneration Group and copies costing £5 can be obtained from the group’s charity shop in the Market Place. Among the local scenes is one of Crowle War Memorial which recently won the ‘best kept village memorial’ in North Lincolnshire.
Roy says: “Crowle & Ealand Regen perform a great job throughout the year, particularly in brightening up the area by funding and maintaining floral beds and baskets. I just wanted to boost their funds and make people aware of how beautiful an area we are privileged to live in.”

North Lindsey College Roadshow visits The Axholme Academy North Lindsey College brought their interactive Courses Roadshow to the academy. Students in years 9 and 11 were able to visit a whole host of interactive activities representing the range of courses at North Lindsey from health and social care to performing arts giving them a real taste of what is on offer at the college post 16. The Road show was really successful because students were able to get a hands on idea of what is on offer at North Lindsey in one venue and actually try out a range of activities as varied as having their nails done, animal care and health & social care. Mr Sellars commented 'The Roadshow really engaged our students and, as always, proved to be a great showcase for the wide range of courses that North Lindsey College can offer'.
Young Enterprise Personal Economics. For Year 9 this is the seventh year that the academy have used the programme to develop money management expertise for life. Learning to manage money can be really tough for teenagers. In this programme students are challenged by means of an intriguing 'life map' to consider the ups and downs they will face in handling their own financial futures. They get a hands-on introduction to credit and debt, savings, investments and budgeting.
This is all through classroom based activities and is a fun and interesting way of raising awareness of the very real problems they will face in life. To advertise please call 01302 532676

Air Cadets from Crowle Squadron gathered to remember the fallen on Sunday 10th November. With the whole Squadron in attendance, the Air Cadets and the Royal Air Force were well represented. The day began with a parade in Ealand, followed by the11 O’clock service and laying of wreaths. This was followed by a short break for the cadets to get a hot drink and a biscuit before moving on to Crowle for the second parade of the day. The Squadron took centre stage for the town parade, marching from the local Church to the war memorial in the centre of Crowle. The cadets took an active roll in the service, reading the names of the fallen as well as laying a wreath on behalf of the Air Training Corps. Flying Officer Victoria Docherty, 2IC at Crowle, said “It was great to see the whole Squadron at the Parades. For all the cadets to give up their time shows their dedication and commitment.” Flight Lieutenant James Docherty, Officer Commanding Crowle Squadron, continued “The Cadets were a shinning example to everyone on Crowle. They looked smart, well turned out and showed a lot of decorum and dignity throughout the parades.” Air Cadets is open to anyone aged 13-17, with cadets able to remain until they turn 20. We are also open to staff aged 20 or over who are looking to help out, either on an occasional basis, or more long term. For more information on the Air Training Corps contact: Flight Lieutenant James Docherty, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (Training) North Region Webmaster, Air Training Corps. webmaster@aircadetsnorth.org
