Welcome to the December issue of Crowle and Ealand Arrow
Reflecting on 2022 we can only be reminded of all the changes and it seems each month there seems to be a new crisis to think about!
The rise of cost of living, the death of our queen, the continuing threat of Covid-19, the war in Ukraine and the turbulence in the government.
Putting these aside we do have things to look forward to, groups and organisations in the Isle arranging evens and activities for everyone to get involved in and enjoy. We would love to hear from more organisations to promote your events please be in touch.
We hope you have an enjoyable festive season, spend time with friends and family, reflect on 2022 and look forward to the year ahead.
Enjoy the read.
The deadline for the January issue is Friday 9th December for delivery by the 1st of the month.

Charity opens new warehouse shop in Scunthorpe
A North Lincolnshire charity has opened a new shop and donate retail outlet in Scunthorpe.
Lindsey Lodge Chairman Alan Bell officially cut the ribbon on Lindsey Lodge Charity Warehouse, situated at 34a Crosby Road, Scunthorpe on Monday 3 October which is a treasure trove of pre-loved fashion and homeware.
Lindsey Lodge Chief Executive Karen Griffiths said: “We’re delighted to have opened our very first warehouse store, which has been created using Lindsey Lodge’s existing donation centre. “The repurposed building now offers a unique shopping experience, where customers can pick up affordable, fashion, furniture and homeware, as well as utilising a dedicated drop off point for donations.
“Free parking is available for customers both on the premises and in the neighbouring area, we can also arrange delivery of large item purchases such as furniture, for a fee.”
She added: “Our Warehouse transformation would not have been possible without the wonderful support of our local community donating their pre-loved items to Lindsey Lodge by supporting us in this way, they are encouraging reuse and recycling, which ultimately helps the environment!”
For more information about Lindsey Lodge please visit the Hospice website at www.lindseylodgehospice.org.uk, email llh.enquiries@nhs.net or phone 01724 270835.

Crowle Panto rides again!
Crowle Entertainers are busy working on their latest show: Snow White and the Magnificent 7 which is a pantomime with a Wild West theme. (Originally scheduled to perform last January the show had to be cancelled at short notice due to Covid!) It will take place at Crowle Community Hall on Saturday 7th January at 2.30pm and 7.30pm and on Sunday 8th January at 2.30pm. Tickets, priced £5 and £4 concessions, are available by calling or texting 07966 315733 They will also be available for sale on the door although pre-booking is advisable, particularly for the popular Sunday matinee performance.
Most of the usual elements of the Snow White story are there – the Wicked Stepmother, the evil henchman, the handsome prince (who takes the shape of the local Deputy) and the magic mirror. However, instead of the 7 dwarves, Snow White is protected by a group of cowboys called the Magnificent 7 and our two dames are to be found running the local saloon, together with some rather dodgy saloon girls, a very shaky waitress and the help of Calamity Kate. As always there will be lots of fun, music and dancing and some audience participation, of course.
Director, Gillian Vickers, said - “It has been a tough couple of years for many community groups but we have managed to keep going and staged a successful murder mystery evening in July. For the panto we have over 30 cast and crew members working on the production and I feel the group has managed to recover from their enforced break and come back stronger than ever. We hope that the local community will get their cowboy hats on and come along to support us and enjoy the show!”
