Eastoft Road, Luddington = Speeding Vehicles – We are still receiving isolated incidents of speeding vehicles but overall the situation has greatly improved. Generation Park = In recent weeks there has few calls to this location but we are receiving numerous complaints regarding off road bikes in the Keadby area. This situation is being monitored and any offender identified will be dealt with in a positive manner. Poaching = With the milder winter conditions we are receiving numerous calls regarding this issue. Please be vigilant and report any suspicious vehicles or persons with as much detail as possible. Information At the beginning of December a new system called TrackMyCrime was introduced by Humberside Police. This scheme is to enhance the service the police gives to the general public when they unfortunately become victims of crime. When a person reports a crime now they will be asked to provide a current email address, once the crime report has been created they will be given the opportunity to register with this scheme. The benefits of this scheme is that the victim will be informed of the officer in the case and contact details for this person, they will be kept updated of the progress of the enquiry and be able to add property details as and when they discover it has been stolen. Humberside Police are asking the public to embrace this scheme so that the quality of service can be enhanced. As always our non-emergency number is 101, and in an emergency please dial 999, Regards from Dean, Wendy and Paul.

Children and parents crowded into Crowle Methodist Church to enjoy a unique Christmas celebration with a live donkey inside the carpeted Chapel as the star attraction at the annual Carol Service. And Dillon did not let his many supporters down as he proved to be on his best behaviour once again with no need for the stand-by bucket and shovel! The service was taken for the first time by Minister, Rev Paul Braisdell who took over as Minister a few months ago. Dillon was led into church by his owner, Mrs Susan Owen from Haxey and during the service eager youngsters were allowed to greet him at close quarters as he posed for photographs. Chapel steward Pat Briggs presented flowers and a Christmas gift to Mrs Owen whilst Dillon received a huge bag of carrots as a special treat. A donation of ÂŁ50 from the collection has also been sent to the Donkey Sanctuary Charity in Devon on behalf of the Chapel. This is the third successive year that the big black y has entertained the congregation with his presence.

KS3 Bowling Trip KS3 students took a trip to the bowling alley in Scunthorpe for the end of term trip. The trip took place on 16th December and only 70 students from KS3 were able to go. So it was a race to get a spot for the trip. Mr Wayte arranged the trip. Some teachers also attended to keep a watch on the students who went on the trip. All of the 70 students who attended to the trip were excited to go bowling and ready to have some fun with their friends as you got to have drinks and food at the bowling alley. They were also ready to win some games. Bring on the competition! Once at the bowling alley they separated into groups with their friends to play their games of bowling. Mr Thompson played a game of bowling as well as the students. At the end of the trip everyone went back to the school where their parents would then pick them up and take them home. If they lived somewhere far away from school and their parents couldn’t pick them up the mini bus would take you home. I asked Ellie what she thought about the bowling trip and how it was. Ellie said “The best part was when I was bowling and talking to friends and also having a laugh with them.” I also asked Todd and what he thought about the bowling trip and how it was. Todd said “I enjoyed bowling because it was fun and I got to hang out with my friends. What I enjoyed the most was having fun bowling and talking to my friends. I also enjoyed having a laugh with my friends.” Written By Bronwyn Hardcastle

, an 8 month old kitten who has been looking for his new home for ages!. Tommy is quite a shy cat, but is very friendly and playful. Epworth Music Day 2016 This year’s Epworth Music Day falls on Saturday 18 June and we are starting to put the plan together to make it as much as success as it was last year. Once again we will be putting together a daytime programme across 10 outdoor stages – with indoor alternatives if it is wet – and then an evening concert. Last June we attracted over 50 different groups of performers across a wide range of musical genres and we hope to be able to provide a platform for a similar array of musical talent in 2016. We already have had expressions of interest from 20 groups who want to play.
Peter Barnard helps to organise the very successful Isle Dance for Health folk dances which have been running on Thursday afternoons in the spring and autumn for the past 3 years. Playing with musicians from his local band – the Lys St Georges Folk Dance Band - and sharing the dance calling with Kate Billmore, he leads 30 or more dancers to enjoy 2 hours' of dancing, good company and fun. The latest programme of these dances runs at 2.30pm on Thursday afternoons at St Andrew’s Church, Epworth in the first 3 Thursdays in February before moving to Crowle Pavilion, Godnow Road, Crowle until 10 March. Peter is also the chairman of AVID - Awaken Village in Dance - which organises informal folk dances once a month in different villages in the area. Starting at 8pm on the second Wednesday of the month, these dances attract musicians from the area and further afield as well as several dance callers. The next AVID dance is at the new Blaxton Village Hall on Wednesday 10 February. You see details of these dances on their web site www.aviddance.co.uk
Details about Epworth Music Day can be found on our website at www.epworthmusicday.com or on our Facebook page. If you would like to perform in Epworth Music Day 2016 we would like to hear from you as soon as possible. Please email us at peter.barnard@me.com or call Peter Barnard on 01427 873937.
Folk dancing is alive and kicking in the Isle of Axholme!
Peter says “These dances are for everyone. It’s wonderful dancing to live music and we make sure that the dances are suitable for those present. All the dances are taught and the dancers are guided through the moves and figures. It can be as energetic as you want it to be, but most importantly it’s good fun.” For more information about any of these dances or about the availability of the Lys St Georges Folk Dance Band, please contact Peter Barnard on 01427 873937.
If you have ever danced a doce do or a figure of 8 you'll know how much fun you can have in folk dancing. If not, why not give it a try? Here in the Isle of Axholme we are very lucky to have expert folk musicians and dance callers to lead you in learning the dance steps and figures.
