Mother Goose Pantomine This year, for their 15th annual pantomime, Crowle Entertainers are presenting Mother Goose – one of the oldest and most traditional of pantos. Performances will take place at the Crowle Community Hall on Saturday 9th January at 2.30pm and 7.30pm and again on Sunday 10th January at 2.30pm. Tickets priced £5 for adults and £3.50 for concessions are available from Crowle Regen Shop, Crowle Tesco, Fancyland Fancy Dress shop in Epworth or on the door. Telephone 01724 711212 or 01427 873947 for enquiries. With a cast of 30 local performers and a special guest star appearance from Priscilla the Goose, this promises to be a brilliant festive treat for all the family. A whole team of baddies, led by the Demon King, do battle with a tiny fairy for control of the local village. Mother Goose’s family are poor but happy whilst the Squire’s family are rich but discontented. Will the fairy have enough magic to win the day? Can Mother Goose’s son win the heart of the Squire’s daughter? Can the audience shout “he’s behind you”? Oh yes they can!!!

This year there is a mix of modern and traditional in the look and feel of the show. With some catchy musical numbers – choreographed by Kim Oakley and her Streetbeat team - and lots of fun and antics, as always, there is plenty of entertainment on offer. So don’t miss out – get along to the Crowle Community Hall for your seasonal panto treat.

Y7 Settling In Evening When your child leaves primary school and moves onto secondary school, it can be a worrying time for both you and them. At The Axholme Academy we do everything that we can to make this transition as smooth as possible for children and our Y7 Settling In Evening allows us to reassure parents and carers that their child has settled in well or to address any issues at an early stage in their secondary education. Year 7 Settling In Evening is an informal opportunity for parents/carers to meet their child's teachers, look at the work that they have been doing and find out more about the Academy's expectations and policies. Parents/carers are encouraged to attend the evening with their child. In the hall we display work for all subjects which has been completed by year 7 students in their first half term at the academy. Parents/carers and their children can enjoy a refreshment whilst looking at the work and chatting to teachers about their child's performance in lessons. During the course of the evening presentations are run in the diner by the Vice Principal and Assistant Principal to ensure that parents are aware of the key policies and routines at the academy. Here is a selection of the comments which were made by parents at this year's Y7 Settling In Evening: "He has enjoyed his first few weeks at the academy immensely." "We are really pleased with our experience of the school so far." "Excellent information session tonight – really clear explanation of progress trackers and systems in school."

Dahlicious Day 2015 The 15th October 2015 marked the day of The Axholme Academy's second ever Dahlicious Day. In the week leading up to the event, all students found out about Roald Dahl's life in their assembly. Year 7 students studied his autobiography 'Boy' in their English lessons and everybody learnt about the author's fascinating life. On the day itself year 7 students donated £1 for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity and began their extravaganza of Dahlicious lessons. Students were in their form groups for the entire day and got to sample Dahlicious lessons in a range of subjects including: Science, PE, Art, Technology, Geography & History. Comments from the students were as follows: Alexander Goodwin: liked the fact thay they ‘got to do chemistry in science when we wouldn’t normally start it until year 9’. James Ferguson: ‘Art with Miss Childs went well because we painted like Quentin Blake.’ At the end of the day every year 7 student watched the Puffin Virtually live show which included a sing along, a draw along and interviews with Michael Rosen. The day was a real success and we fully intend to repeat it next year. The Axholme Academy raised £67.64 for Roald Dahl’s charity. Amy Crossland’s Pen & Ink drawing based on Quentin Blake

This pretty girl is Poppy, a 7 year old Jack Russell who is looking for a new home. Poppy is so sweet and wellbehaved in the house and on the lead, and travels really well. She has lived with children, but would be best with older ones now. Ok with other dogs. Poppy would love a family who will take her on some nice walks so she can lose her extra weight! Poppy is neutered and fully vaccinated. If you are interested in meeting this lovely girl, please call Isle Rescue on 01427 728705.
