Special Constables are members of the public who volunteer their time in order to support their regular colleagues and provide a valuable link between the police and the local community. They are warranted officers who have the same powers as a regular officer, wear the same uniform and carry the same equipment. Special Constables: Have the same powers as police officer colleagues Assist in major incidents Flexible hours that fit around your personal circumstances As a Special Constable you will have the same warranted powers as your regular colleagues and as such it is important that you receive a certain level of training prior to being attested (sworn in) and being allowed to engage with members of the public. Because of time constraints, the level of training you will receive is not the same as a regular officer but will give you the knowledge and skills you will need to carry out your duties as a Special Constable. Once you have completed your initial training you will be expected to perform a minimum of 16 hours operational duties a month. If you are interested in becoming a Special Constable please visit our website www.wearehumbersidespecials.co.uk

The Axholme Lurchers attend the Hull Street Race Awards The Axholme Lurchers attended the Hull Street Race Awards dinner for schools who participated in the race in Hull. The event was well attended and included (Photographer) Spacesuit Media a presentation ceremony with local dignitaries and a celebratory meal in the Hull Guildhall. The Axholme Lurchers received two awards for achieving third place in the second race of the day out of 29 teams and also won 'Best newcomer' which was presented to us by Hull University. National Volunteers Week – 1st to 7th June 2019 Organisations across the UK will be thanking their volunteers and celebrating the power of volunteering during National Volunteers Week taking place between 1st to 7th June. At The Axholme Academy our most important and influential volunteers are members of the Governing Board that work tirelessly throughout the year in working with and supporting the senior leadership of the school to drive forward school improvement. They visit the school regularly meeting a range of staff and students; they challenge senior leaders and hold them accountable and celebrate our successes. We also benefit from a range of volunteers who give freely of their time to provide – additional support in subject areas such as mathematics student support and counselling additional staffing for academy trips and visits additional input from business and industry to enhance subject teaching in, for example, information technology and financial management sports coaching in, for example rugby union We also regularly welcome back former students who talk about their own further education and career experiences to support our careers education programme and help existing students make informed choices about their futures. To all our volunteers we say a huge thank you! To advertise please call 01302 532676 or 07912 643010

The 122nd Crowle Show Sunday July 21st at Godnow Road Crowle The summer holidays will have started so why not join us this year for a fun day out that includes lots of free family activities including crazy golf, giant games, stone carving, cheer leading, circus skills and much more. Marks magic kingdom will be providing entertainment as well as Tony Butlers exotic animals and ferret racing. Keep a lookout for Super Hero , cartoon and comic book characters at the show too. There will be the traditional sheep, cattle, pony, poultry, dog and horse showing competitions with the reintroduction of agricultural horse classes. The vintage vehicle section is already attracting entries, so we are hoping for a good display again this year. The produce show schedule has expanded the junior section to include Fairy houses, Dinosaur dens, Lego models, Super Hero shields and other items, so get busy kids there are prizes to be won. In the main ring from 11am onwards there will be various performances including dog agility, gun dogs, Yorkshire farmers blood hounds, Ruby Twirlstars majorettes, Tug of War, Tsunami Allstars, Side saddle display, the crowning of the Lord and Lady and more. Around the showground will be trade stalls, craft marquee, fairground attractions, live music, licensed bar, stone masonry, chainsaw carving, bee keeping and food court. Entry to the show is £6 for adults, £3 for children/concessions with family tickets at £15. Car parking is free or why not take advantage of the free minibus which will be running through Crowle and up to Seven Lakes throughout the day. We have spaces for Tug of War teams, so if any of the local pubs, sports teams or businesses want to enter let us know. The prize is usually a barrel of beer. The fund dog show will begin at 1pm, with entries taken on the day. We are also having a gun dog scurry and have a go agility so for those of you whose dogs like to get involved this is their day too. The show committee are grateful to the local businesses and individuals who provide financial and other support which enables Crowle show to continue.
