Crowle Primary Academy School Summer Fayre Thursday 18th June 3pm at school - Windsor Road Café, Tombola, Bouncy Castle, Raffle, Gunging, Class Stalls and much more. After last years inaugural run, when nearly £2000.00 was raised for Lindsey Lodge Hospice Scunthorpe, organisers predict that there is a distinct possibility of up to 100 tractors participating in this years event. With a new exciting route, drivers from three counties will assemble at the Mowbray Arms, Epworth, on 'Fathers and Midsummer's Day' on the 21st June, for the start at 10am. Large crowds are expected all along the route. Tractors of all shapes, sizes and colours have been prepared for this event including pink tractors for the lady drivers. The Brumpton family, who organise their own tractor run at Barnetby Wold (also in aid of the hospice), are planning to bring up to four tractors this year. The route above, will travel in a clock-wise direction taking in five Isle of Axholme villages. With an approximate arrival of 12pm, lunch is being taken courtesy of the White Hart Public house at Owston Ferry. Afterwards at 1pm, the tractors will make their way back to Epworth across country via Bagsby, Listers and Newlands Lane. At 3pm a Dakota aircraft from the Memorial Flight will fly along Rectory Street and over Epworth to delight the crowds. Local businesses have lent their support once again, in providing great prizes for a grand raffle to be drawn in the Mowbray Arms at 4:30pm. Come along with the family and cheer the tractors along, we look forward to seeing you.

Year 10 Law Group Hull Prison trip Written by Chloe Hunter
When we arrived at the prison, we were very nervous, wondering what was going to happen. After everyone had been searched we met Junior, a prison officer, who took us around the prison for the day. The first thing we did was go into the prisoners visiting room and we sat down whilst junior took us through a power point and told us about the prison, its history and a little bit about the prison system. Junior then introduced us to Carl and Nasser who we thought were voluntary workers and we discussed our views about criminals and murderers. Then Carl and Nasser introduced themselves to us as inmates who were in prison for killing people. When Carl said, “Hi I’m Carl, I’m in prison for murder” I was shocked and scared but it taught me to not judge a book by its cover, then Nasser introduced himself by saying “Hi I’m Nasser, and I got my sentence for conspiracy to murder “ I was terrified but then they told me the story of what happened and I just realised that there just ordinary people who have made a mistake or been in the wrong crowd, or in the wrong place. Once we’d talked to Nasser and Carl it made me realise that doing crimes and being a murderer doesn’t make you a monster you’re still just a normal human being, this actually changed my mind about people, crime and prisons. We met two other prisoners called Stan and Chris these two was in a unit for drugs and alcohol offences. They wanted to change their life around and wanted to be normal people again Stan just wanted to look after and care for his daughter and Chris just wanted to get out of prison and go into to rehabilitation and then help other people that had been in the same situation as him and wants to help people come off drugs and alcohol. This made me think differently about drug and alcohol addicts because not all of them are life wasters like I thought; some of them do actually want to change their life around and get help but they didn’t actually know how to until they got into prison. We were also taken on a tour of the prison. We went to one of the wings and saw different cells and had the chance to go into the cells and see what the living conditions in a cell are like – a bed, a blanket and a toilet. I learnt that if you have a condition such as epilepsy then you have to have a cellmate whether you like it or not, so that there is always someone who can call for help if you become ill. After we’d visited the cells we went and looked at the gym and the sports hall this was my favourite place out of everything because the equipment was amazing! Most of the prisoners spend their days doing work, such as in the laundry, the kitchen or the garden; some prisoners do lessons and courses to improve their chances of staying out of trouble when they are released. Once we’d been to the gym and the sports hall we went to “the block.” The block is areas where you go if you’ve been really bad for example if you’ve been in a fight then you have to go into the block and the cells are all concrete; even the bed. This is so that when they get angry they don’t smash anything up; they don’t even have a toilet. The prisoners in the block are locked up for 23 ½ hours a day and have just 30 minutes to write letters, make phone calls, get a shower and have some

Eastoft pupils go all starry eyed!
On Monday 27th April children in Key Stage 1 welcomed Starlincs Planetarium into school where they fastened their seat belts and ventured into space! The first stop was to learn all about night and day, where children learned all about the Moon, the Sun and of course Earth. Following this, children ventured round the solar system stopping at every planet and learning lots of interesting facts, they enjoyed sharing some of their own information that they had discovered in class too! Finally children spent some time star gazing and learning about the different star constellations that can be seen in our night sky. Afterwards parents were invited to come and hear all about the space adventure over a cup of tea and a biscuit, it was thirsty work! Key Stage 1 are very keen to continue their learning this term through writing newspaper reports, using primary and secondary sources in their historical research, building their very own class rocket and becoming news reporters by filming their own documentary of the first moon landing! This was an ideal way for children to launch into this term’s topic of Neil Armstrong and all children
