Isle Group of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust Thursday November 1st Red Foxes by Dr. Carl Soulsbury Stephen Jones Hall (rear of the Methodist Chapel), Low Street, Haxey On Thursday November 1st we will be welcoming Dr. Carl Soulsbury to talk about red foxes, a species which we find in Britain but also around the world. He has been studying these for many years both in the UK and abroad. Red foxes are animals we see occasionally here in the Isle but they are more commonly seen in towns and cities. They are an animal which we know of and recognise from an early age but most of us know very little about, so this should prove to be an interesting evening. We hope you will come along, everyone is welcome, you don't have to be a member of the Wildlife Trust. Our meetings are always on the first Thursday of the month from October to May in the Stephen Jones Hall in Haxey. For further information about the local Trust group and their meetings please contact Tony Lee on 01427 753831 or Chris Trinder on 01427 872051. Details about the group are also on the Lincolnshire Trust web site under area groups.

Musical Director Hannah Doherty will conduct, with keyboard accompaniment from James Longden. Those who attended the sell-out show last summer will know what to look forward to, as the choir will sing their customary varied programme of folk, pop, gospel and traditional, and there will even be a spot of audience participation for those who fancy joining in the fun. Seating will be cabaret style so bring a bottle, some nibbles and some friends and get ready for a night of pure autumn gold! Tickets are £5.00, available for sale at Serendipity, on Epworth High Street (01427 874478), and from 01427 873947. Apples Crafts and Candlelight at Epworth Old Rectory The end of the season at the Rectory has arrived so quickly this year - where has the time gone? But we're not quite finished yet with so much for you to come and see and do before Christmas. First up is the Apple pressing Day with Apple of your Isle group, who will press your own apples to give you apple juice to take home and drink as fresh juice, or later after it may have passed through a process or two with additives such as sugar and yeast.. Then comes the Christmas Craft Fair on November 17th. Once again the stalls space is completely filled with a waiting list for spaces. It's a great opportunity to fill the present list with quality hand made craft items, all produced by local craftsmen and women. The variety of crafts and items for sale is totally brilliant. How about trying to guess the weight of the cake while you enjoy a cup of tea Call into the gift shop to see what we may have, or to book your place at the next event in our yearly calendar.
Epworth Old Rectory
Christmas Craft Fair Saturday 17th November 2018 10am—3.30pm Entrance £1.00
This one is not to be missed - the candlelit tours. We have limited space on these tours so you need to prebook now. See the house , fully furnished as normal following the crat Fair, but as the Wesleys would have experienced it, by candlelight. Your tour starts in the Gift shop where you will be welcomed by a costumed guide, who will lead you, by the light of a lantern, to the front door where, after knocking for admission, you will be welcomed into the entrance hall, with a blazing fire to take away any chill, by even more costumed guides. You will then be taken all round the house with only candle light available and hear the story of all the happenings at the rectory while the Wesleys were resident there. You will them end your tour in Susanna's kitchen sitting around the table with another blazing fire while you chat over a cup of hot fruit punch, home made pork pie, sausage rolls, mince pies, fruit cake with butter and cheese,, and whatever else we choose to add to the menu. Although this ends our year for 2018, there will be so much more to look forward to for next year. 2019 is the 350th anniversary if the birth of Susanna Wesley, the mother of John and Charles, the founders of Methodism. Keep your eyes on these pages, and our Facebook page for more information as dates are finalised. Don't miss out on any of our great event days for the end of this year, and certainly not for next year's.
Beautiful hand-made gifts for all the family

Geography Trip The annual year 11 geography field trip to Hornsea took place on Tuesday 18th September. On a bright but very windy day, the geographers engaged in a series of different data collection tasks, including a land use survey, environmental quality survey and measuring the height of sediment of groynes along the beach to determine whether longshore drift was impacted by the groynes. Whilst on the beach, the wind whipped up the sand, giving us all a certain amount of exfoliation!! Despite this and aided by the usual seaside food of fish and chips and ice cream, we succeeded in collecting everything we needed and, importantly, had an enjoyable day out. (photo front cover) Sponsored Walk On Friday 28th September 2018, 520 students and staff members at The Axholme Academy took part in a 5 mile sponsored walk. This is an annual event that the school organises to raise money for the Academy School Fund. This fund is aimed at supporting educational trips and events for the students; therefore the money raised goes straight towards their own educational experiences. The walk takes the students around different parts of Crowle, including along the canal-side and through the village. Most of the school took the walk at a good steady pace and enjoyed the good weather! The majority of students completed the walk within 2 hours and returned to be treated to a hot drink and cake at our annual MacMillan Coffee Morning; the Macmillan Coffee morning raised an amazing ÂŁ438.50. We have raised an amazing ÂŁ973.00 for the Sponsored Walk.
