Welcome to the November issue of the Crowle and Ealand Arrow. What a strange year up to press, as I am writing this it appears the pandemic is reaching a peak and bizarrely it’s a postcode lottery to which tier you are in! Bonfires are cancelled, we wont be experiencing the traditional firework display. We have no idea what will happen this Christmas, if we can share it with our loved ones, give them a cuddle or even welcome the New Year in with friends and family. Its all a guessing game! Whatever our plans we need to keep safe and enjoy and make the most of what we have. I am sure it will all be a distant memory in 2021. Lindsey Lodge has launched its #weneedyou Christmas Care Appeal to enable local people to provide much-needed support from the comfort and safety of their own homes. This year due to Covid-19, nearly everything has had to be put on hold and they are facing a glaring gap in their proposed income. The Christmas Care appeal provides a number of ways for you to still get involved - whether it’s buying a real Christmas tree from Lindsey Lodge, playing our Superdraw or simply shopping at one of our stores. Every penny really does make a difference.

Community News The IoAHS (Epworth Garden Club) has closed this year after 25+ glorious years of gardening in the Isle. The Club still has a flourishing membership but those with time to devote to Committee duties are increasingly less in number. We would like to thank all members, Committee, speakers, Show judges and those who have supported us by buying plants, donating raffle prizes, submitting entries and donating refreshments over those years and wish you all productive growing seasons to come. As a well organised Club we acquired various bits of presentation/holding shows equipment that may be useful to other local clubs and groups or for schools that have a wildlife/growing garden. If you would be interested in items of this equipment please do get in touch on 01427 874126 by 20 November to discuss – clubs and groups should have in their Terms of Reference that they would also pass onto other groups if they too were to close. Happy gardening. Committee of IoAHS

Community News This year has not been one of the best for The Old Rectory due to restrictions made on museums because of the Coronavirus Pandemic. Many of the normal events which are held throughout the year have been cancelled to ensure that our visitors are safe, which has resulted in reduced opening hours and smaller tour group sizes. The Rectory has achieved it's Covid "Good to Go" certificate with the security and hygiene measures put into place. As a charity, this means that the income , which keeps the rectory open for visitors, is greatly reduced. In order to increase the annual income a little, a decision has been made to keep the rectory open for visitors during November and December before closing for Christmas on the 18th of December. One of the main events to be cancelled in this period is the annual Christmas Craft Fair. However, it is still possible to book a tour from now until Christmas closing. The Rectory is also offering
a special evening tour during two weeks of December, on the 8th, 9th and 10th and the 15th, 16th, and 17th. This is a special tour by candlelight when the Rectory will look more like it used to be when the Wesley's lived there in the 18th century. A cosy fire and costumed guides in the entrance hall will welcome visitors in from the cold. They will then see the rest of the house by candlelight (held by guides), hearing the fascinating story of the family life and the happenings in the Rectory, and sometimes elsewhere, ending in Susanna's kitchen where another cosy fire will see them on their way home. Due to current restrictions the tour groups are limited in number and should be only those in the same support bubble, which is why the Rectory is offering 2 tours per evening, one at 6pm and the second at 7pm on all the dates listed above. For further information and to book tours during November and December please contact the Rectory on 01427 872268. You can also contact via the website, www.epwortholdrectory.org.uk, and facebook page.
