Haxey Parish Walkers The group, who has been supported by the Parish Council, North Lincs Council and The Coop, aim to promote the maintenance, signposting and use of the over forty miles of footpaths in the Parish. As part of this we organise five or six community walks each year and have a website (www.haxeywalkers.co.uk) that provides suggestions, information and maps. The walks are for everyone and anyone of any age, at around four miles at a gentle pace and generally finishing at a local community hall for hot drinks and biscuits. Our next walk will be on Easter Monday, 18 April, at 10.30, starting and finishing at Haxey Memorial Hall. Well behaved dogs on leads are welcome.

This exciting new project has now fully launched. Our aims are to: • reduce food waste • support families and individuals by distributing surplus food to them. We are accepting donations of surplus food from our partners - typically food shops and restaurants. Some local organisations are also acting as collection points. Food is checked to make sure that it is safe to be used then it is stored or distributed to families and individuals. We distribute the food in two ways: • by opening a Community Pantry at St Nicholas’ Church Youth Hub, Haxey on Friday mornings from 9.15am-11.30am where members of our community can visit and help themselves to any food that is available. There are no questions asked, no forms to fill in and no supporting documents needed. All that we ask is that people do not take more food than they need. • By delivering food parcels to members of our community. Referrals may be made in confidence by anyone (children’s centre, schools, parish councils, WI groups, friends etc) and we will arrange for parcels to be delivered. There is no limit to the number of visits to the Pantry that can be made, or the number of parcels received. Unlike the traditional food banks we will collect fresh, chilled and frozen food and food that is close to date. Where possible food will be frozen to preserve it. For more information, to make a donation or to make a referral please contact us on the numbers below; Rev Mark Zammit: Vicar of Haxey and Owston Ferry 01427 753004 Paul Taylor: Families Worker 01427 753515

News From Haxey Church of England Primary School We have had another busy month here at Haxey Primary School - our swim team had a gala at The Pods in Scunthorpe and battled really well in the pool, coming second in our group. They made us very proud with their sporting attitudes and their behaviour in and around the pool! We are looking forward to the chance to take part in more of these events. We also had a wonderful day on World Book Day, with everybody in school coming dressed as a character who has inspired them in a book that they love to read. The day was spent sharing those stories with friends and reviewing those books. We also had a competition for children to make their favourite characters out of a potato and had some incredible entries, from the Loch Ness potato to the frog prince!!
