FESTIVAL – ENTER THE COMPETITION!
As part of its Christmas lights festivities, Misterton Parish Council is organising a Christmas Tree Festival. Everyone individuals, organisations, and businesses - is invited to enter a decorated tree. Dree it in any way you wish as long as it has a Christmas theme! The height of the tree should not be more than four feet (1.25m). Any lights should be battery powered. Please include your name, and organisation or business, on a sheet of card or paper no bigger than A4, with any other information you want to give. This will be displayed with the tree.
There's a chance to win a prize for the best dressed tree. And there’s another chance for people to see the Christmas Tree entries on Saturday 3 December (during the Parish Church’s annual Christmas Coffee Morning from 10.00am to 12 noon).

It has been another busy month for the Axholme NeighbourhoodTeam. We have held a number of community engagements and been focussing on our priorities of youth anti social behaviour in Crowle, concerns regarding excess speed in Haxey and crime prevention work to reduce burglary. We have had feedback through our Humber Talking surveys with community concerns around drug use and supply and youth antisocial behaviour. We will be discussing with our partners plans to proactively address these issues. The team would like to welcome PC 393 Steve Brazzier. He will join PC 2373 Sarah Jackson as the second dedicated Neighbourhood Beat Officer for Axholme Wards. With 4 PCSO’s this raises the team number to 6 and shows a real commitment to Neighbourhood Policing in the area. December sees us launch our annual Op Yuletide force operation. This covers a number of areas where we see demand in the lead up to Christmas and New Year. Your Neighbourhood Team will be involved in crime prevention to minimise burglaries, policing the night time economy as Christmas parties get underway and keeping people safe at community events.

Remember a loved one and Light up a Life with Lindsey Lodge
Lindsey Lodge Hospice and Healthcare has revealed plans to hold its annual Light up a Life Service at 6.45pm on Thursday 15 December at Normanby Hall Country Park.
The 30-year old charity is inviting families and friends to come together to remember and celebrate the lives of lost loved ones at the event, which will be a very special service of carols, readings, music, celebration and reflection, including appearances from the Humberside Police Band, accompanied by choir Hospice Harmonies, as well as Piper Danny Fleming.
Lindsey Lodge Fundraising Manager Kirsty Walker said: “We’re extremely grateful to Normanby Hall Country Park and North Lincolnshire Council for supporting our Light up a Life service again this year.
“The Hall and gardens provide such a beautiful setting for this special evening of celebration and reflection, and allow us to welcome even more supporters to one of the most important memorial events in our Lindsey Lodge calendar.”
She added: “This has been our 30th anniversary year, which has seen us complete one of our biggest expansion plans in 20 years, as we opened our new six bed inpatient Butterfly Wing, along with a 24/7 hour specialist palliative care advice service the Butterfly Line, to enable us to reach even more local people and families who need our support.”
Lindsey Lodge’s Light up a Life service welcomes anyone who has lost someone, not just those people whose loved one was cared for by the Hospice. Those taking part will be able to dedicate a light which represents a life, that will remain lit throughout the Christmas period in Lindsey Lodge’s Memorial Garden. The service will also be streamed live for anyone unable to attend the Normanby Hall event.
Kirsty said: “We are a local charity supporting local people, and we hope that by taking part in our Light up a Life Service, we’ll all be sharing a little light, love and hope to mark the end of one of our most important years.”

1st Isle of Axholme BP Scouts – Autumn 2022
Last weekend we returned to Caistor for our “Back to Basics” camp. In true adventure style, we filled a weekend with survival skills and lots of fun. Always helped by sunny weather and great food! Friday night we put up tents, collected wood, build wood stores and then stopped for hot chocolate and celebratory birthday cake. After a good night sleep, we lit our open fires and started cooking. Our menus included pancakes and omelettes for breakfast, toasties and jacket potatoes. During the day we had to keep our fires lit, just the right temperature for our cooking and well stocked. This meant we had to use knives to feather kindling, axes to chop firewood and basically work as a team throughout! We also set ourselves the challenge of building some camp gadgets using wood and rope (and testing our knots and lashing skills) most groups chose a washing up stand, and a bin. One inventive patrol made a rope ladder, exercise equipment like at a gym and a rope swing. We also had a scavenger hunt and some free time games. After tea, again cooked on open fires, we cleared up and headed down for the campfire. An impressive fire, smores and many songs and jokes. Some hide and seek in the dark before supper and then bed. Sunday, we had cooked breakfast followed by Flag break and “thought for the day”. We filled our day with some other competitions art in nature, and to build a rope bridge to hold the whole team off the floor. Finally, cooked lunch, then dismantle fires and wood piles, strike camp and load the van. Phew! What a weekend.
Upcoming events: Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award and Christmas party. All sections (Cubs, Scouts and Senior Scouts) all restart after half term on Monday 31st October 6pm (Cubs), and 7pm (Scouts) at the Westwoodside Village Hall.
