Engagement with the Community
One of the principal roles of your Neighbourhood Policing Team is engaging with the communities we serve. Policing is a partnership approach and through regular engagement we are able to build a picture of the issues you face and what we can do together to resolve them.
In the age of social media a lot of our work is posted online and this is certainly true of how we advertise our engagement events. This events are open to all members of the community and we recognise that not everyone follow social media. This means some sections of the community may be missing out on opportunities to meet our team, take our Humber Talking survey and discuss issues of concern.
Please take the opportunity to meet your local PCSO and/or PC at the below locations:
Walking Street Surgery 01 Feb 2023 330 pm to 430 pm Vinehall Road, Blackmoor Road Haxey
Walking Street Surgery 21 Feb 2023 330 pm to 430 pm North Street & Parklands, West Butterwick
Our primary location to advertise our engagement dates is on our Humberside Police Facebook Page. On some small occasions operational matters mean we have to cancel an event. Please be aware that events printed in this magazine may be subject to change as a result. If you want to check an event is still taking place please contact us on 101 where the Force Control Room will check with your on duty Neighbourhood Team. Alternatively you can check in person at Epworth Police Station when our Enquiry Officer is available Tuesday & Thursdays 9am to 1230 pm and 1pm to 330 pm.

It was lovely to return to school following the Christmas break – and what an exciting first week back we had!! Our amazing PTFA organised a pantomime in school for us all to enjoy, and it was a fantastic production of Dick Whittington, complete with lots of singing, dancing and shouting out – and ice cream treats at the end! A big thank you to our PTFA and everybody who supports them for arranging this treat for us!
January 6th is obviously a very important date on the Haxey calendar, and we were delighted to welcome the Fool, the Lord of the Hood and many of the Boggins in for a special Haxey Hood assembly. All pupils got the chance to hold the Hood, the Fool shared the original story behind the ancient game and answered all our questions, but the highlight must be the singing, as they shared Cannons and Farmer’s Boy with us. Then they taught us the chant that is shouted at the smoking of the Fool, and our F2 children used that in the afternoon when they held their own mini-hood on the school field. It was fantastic to see so many Haxey pupils and families at the actual Hood this year, really bringing the community together.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Happy New year from everybody at Haxey CE Primary School!
BIG BEN CHIMES FOR TOP MISTERTON BOWLERS
Misterton Mallard bowlers and friends enjoyed their presentation night award ceremony at the Ferry house, East Stockwith on December 8th
Dave Seymour, Tom Allen, Freda Allsopp, Pat Harriman, Danny Ferry and Pete Collins were all trophy winners in the club’s various competitions.
Club treasurer Dave Seymour awarded the trophies and club competition organiser Tom Allen presented Freda Allsopp the Ladies Champion for the third time and Danny Ferry, Club Champion, special Congratulatory cards from the England Cricket Captain Ben Stokes.
Ben like most cricketers doesn’t like ducks but he certainly seems to have a favourable opinion of the Misterton Mallards Bowls club!

Happy New Year to the Misterton Community
We ended December in school with our Christingle at All Saints Church in Misterton. Reverend Becky led our service and it was lovely to work with her with such a special service. Thank you to all who came and supported.
From the start of 2023, Violet Davidson-Begley has been in our thoughts, Violet Davidson-Begley died on the 1st January 2023. Violet was the strongest young person, who dealt with everything that came her way with such grit and resilience. She led her life wanting to be one of her class team, with no special treatment despite her team knowing and wanting to be there over and above for her. The school community are supporting each other through this incredibly sad time and will continue to do so. Violet’s family are very much in our thoughts.
Hugo and Ric Hart have given generously to Misterton Primary School with their book sales from, ‘Hugo and Daddy’s School Adventures. The sales raised £700 and have been donated to school. The plan is to buy resources for our Nursery and Reception classes to start other children’s journeys into school with the best start possible.
The Food Hub continues to provide us all with quality food. Each bag is £3 and this is open to everyone, school and the community. Each Wednesday from 2.30-3.30pm, the Food Hub runs outside if we are able but inside if, the weather is too bad. We are a hardy lot and so far have been outside but please know we run each Wednesday during school time, with the one exception that on the 25th January this will be closed.
