The Isle Group of the Lincolnshire Wildlife Trust are starting their monthly meetings after a long break due to covid. We are meeting in a new, more spacious venue, Belton All Saints Centre (Church Hall). This is next to the Church on Stocks Hill which is off the High Street. We are starting our programme with the member’s slide, photo, video night which has always proved popular in the past. Anyone can bring along a selection of images on any topic to share with the rest of the group. We have a laptop and projector so all you need is a memory stick/ CD with your images on. If you would like to do this it would be helpful if you could contact Tony Lee so that the programme can be organised prior to the night. Entrance fee is £1. For further information about the local Trust group and their meetings please contact Tony Lee on 01427 753831 or Chris Trinder on 01427 872051. Humberside Police would like to offer the following crime prevention advice to people for Halloween & Bonfire Night. By following this simple advice you could prevent yourself from becoming a victim of crime. If you do not wish to be disturbed on Halloween then please display a poster in your window and/or on your door that states you don’t want any callers. This will let those people who are out and about taking part in the festivities know that you do not wish to be disturbed. Parents- Are you taking your child/children out trick or treating or to a bonfire display? If so please don’t make your home a target for a burglar. An opportunist thief will know that people will be out and about leaving their homes empty. Make it look like you have somebody at home and NEVER leave valuables on display. Parents and carers are asked to keep children safe and to know where they are and what they are doing. Make this Bonfire Night pass without harm, injury or incident. If you are driving to a Halloween or Bonfire Night event, then make sure that you don't leave anything on display when you leave your vehicle. Thieves work under the cover of darkness and will damage your vehicle to get to anything you might leave on the seats or footwell. Officers from neighbourhood policing teams will be going out and about, encouraging youngsters to enjoy the festivities without becoming a nuisance in their neighbourhood. Retailers are reminded of their responsibility not to sell flour and eggs to youngsters on the run up to Halloween and Mischief Night. Please be aware that during Halloween & Bonfire Night calls to police, especially in relation to Anti Social Behaviour, can be significantly higher than normal. This may increase the call answering times so please be aware of this. THINK do you really need to call the police? Calls for service are generally higher around this time of year so please consider if it is the police you really need and just how important is it?

HUGO AND DADDY’S CHRISTMAS ADVENTURES: FAMILIES COLLABORATE ON NEW CHRISTMAS BOOK Misterton dad, Ric Hart, releases his final children’s book for 2021: Hugo and Daddy’s Christmas Adventures. This is his fourth in the ‘Hugo and Daddy’s’ series of children’s books. After the death of Ric’s wife shortly after giving birth to Hugo in 2018, Ric knew he needed to make her proud and create a lasting legacy and create some interpretation for his son, who is now three and heading for nursery school this year at Redlands Primary in Worksop, where Ric now lives. Ric adds: “The creation and ideas for the book also came from my new partner, Victoria Taylor, and her boys, Harry, George, and Charlie. They have been credited as the initial design creators in the book alongside Jackie Tee, my illustrator, who has been epic in my journey. I always felt I had a Christmas book in me and what a way to end the year. The book tells the story of Hugo going through the night sky with Santa on Christmas Eve but also shows two families coming together over time through tragedy, which is a powerful message to so many out there.” Ric and Victoria took a huge step this year in coming together as a family, which has brought many challenges, but they are going from strength to strength.

The book is available on Amazon for pre-order and is released 1 October 2021. Ric adds: “My book journey has been a huge undertaking and an emotional one, releasing four books this year including my autobiography, Pupy Love, and my Amazon bestseller, Hugo and Daddy’s Night-time Adventures in 2020. It has been one hell of a journey. Now it’s time to refocus back on my fitness and family life and who knows what 2022 will bring. Live for today embrace tomorrow!” Pictured are Ric (right) with Victoria (centre) with her three sons (from left) George, brother Harry holding Hugo, and Charlie. Other books Ric has published are: Hugo and Daddy’s Night-time Adventures Hugo & Daddy’s Thailand Adventures Hugo & Daddy’s Superhero Adventures Hugo & Daddy’s Christmas Adventures Autobiography, Pupy Love.

There is a large number of thefts of motor vehicles that were stolen from domestic properties where the offender did not have to enter the house to steal the car keys beforehand. Unfortunately, this type of offence continues across the Country including South Yorkshire. In certain parts of the Borough, houses are targeted purely for the make of car parked at the address. Prestige German cars are among those favoured by thieves. The stolen vehicle can have its identity changed and sold on to an innocent buyer or exported abroad. Some vehicles are dismantled and the parts sold on to dealers or people simple wanting additional parts for their own vehicle. If you have a car that does not need a key to unlock the vehicle or start the engine, your car is vulnerable to this type of attack. Your key fob transmits a radio signal, which is active even when the fob is not being used. A thief can stand outside your house and use a device, which will pick up the radio signal when the key fob is inside your house. An accomplice standing next to your car will use a different device, which receives the signal picked up by the first offender and uses the signal to unlock the car and start the engine. It is not necessary for the key fob to be inside the car for the engine to start. Once started the thieves will drive off with your car. The engine will keep running until the thief reaches their destination. A new key will be programmed, which is used to start the car at any time. If you have a keyless car fob, you must purchase a device called a Faraday pouch. You place your car keys into this pouch when not in use. An internet search using the phrase “Faraday pouch” will result in many sites offering this device. If you are unable to access the internet, these devices can also be purchased at Halfords and Argos. Whilst at home you can place your car keys into an aluminium tin to block the signal. Whilst not as effective as a faraday pouch, it will restrict the range of the signal. One person placed their car keys into the microwave, which was very effective but forgot the keys, were in there, and turned the microwave on to heat up a cup of coffee. This resulted in damage to the microwave and the need to purchase a new set of car keys. A very expensive mistake. Keyless car theft is not the only type of vehicle theft occurring. In some recent cases, vehicle keys left on a table inside the front door have been stolen by reaching through the letter box using a pole or similar with a hook on the end. The main prevention technique in this case, is to take your keys to bed with you. Do not leave car keys on a table inside the door on the kitchen work surface. The belief that offenders will come into the bedroom to steal keys is not one supported by statistics. There is only one report of this happening and the vehicle in question was a Supercar valued at over £300,000. If the thief steals the car using the ignition keys, that also means the alarm system and immobiliser are inoperative. Consider fitting a tracking device to your vehicle or a separate physical security device. Secure your house to reduce the chances of becoming a victim of burglary. If your doors have Euro profile cylinder locks that are more than two years old, change the locks for ones that comply with Security standard SS312 Diamond or TS007 3 star. If every householder in Doncaster fitted security rated door locks to their property the number of burglaries would drop drastically. Information on security rated locks is available at your local Master locksmiths or on their website at http://www.locksmiths.co.uk/faq/ lock-snapping-most-secure-lock-cylinder/ Burglary prevention advice is available on the South Yorkshire police website at https://www.southyorks.police.uk/find-out/crime-prevention-advice/ EamonnPlease Larkin, Designing crime Arrow” / Crime reduction officer 18 mentionout“The when responding to advertisements Doncaster Police Station Eamonn.larkin@southyorks.pnn.polioce.uk

Y6 Macmillan coffee morning On the 23rd of September, Haxey C of E Primary School’s Year 6 held a Macmillan coffee morning to donate money to Macmillan Cancer Support. We raised a whopping £352.21!. All Y6 contributed by bringing in cakes, biscuits and cupcakes. We also had a cake sale after school as we had so many cakes left. We would like to thank the everyone who joined us and donated money for the raffle, bought cakes, coffee, juice, tea and biscuits. We really enjoyed running the morning and having time to chat to our guests.

Eden Camp Y6 visited Eden Camp Museum on Monday 4th October for the day to learn more about World War 2. It was very interesting to learn about air-raids, the Blitz and the Battle of Britain. It was very surprising to find out that Eden Camp once was a prisoner of war camp and it was exciting to see what the prisoners had made whilst they were there. We really enjoyed learning and experiencing what it was like to live as a civilian during the period of WW2. Eden Camp was a fun way of learning more about what happened between 19391945. We were very surprised at information given of evacuee experiences both positive and negative. We found our trip to Eden Camp very educational and fascinating and would highly recommend a visit.

3 peaks for MIND!
Due to the amazing fundraising efforts by everyone so far, we have raised the fundraising target to £2,000! Let's keep the donations coming in, thank you so much from all of us to all of you. Rising at 05:00am, we made our way to the base of Nevis and were rewarded for our perseverance with a forecast that allowed us to crack on at 07:45am with surprisingly clear skies. During our ascent we had a conversation with a fellow hiker about what we were doing and why. It turned out her family had been profoundly affected by mental health issues, reaffirming the work of the charity and the fundraiser. We hit the summit of Ben and completed the mountain in 5h 40 minutes just behind schedule. We arrived at Scafell keeping a close eye on the weather as there had been plenty of rainfall earlier in the day. A guide from another group informed us that a river we’d have to cross on our normal route was not passable, being treacherous due to the earlier conditions, so we proceeded via a different route, setting off at 22:30. One of the team was injured halfway up so I turned back with him whilst the other 5 pressed on to get the Peak, completing it in 5 hours. All in all an excellently handled night hike by the team! With Scafell Pike under our belt we headed to Wales. However, due to the transport logistics in place and the mandated rest for our driver we had to head to Conwy and allow the driver his break which meant we couldn’t use him until the Monday morning when we were scheduled to leave. We arrived in Conwy for around 10:00am, where the group grabbed 2 hours of sleep. We then arranged for a taxi to drop us off at (and later retrieve us from) the Peny-Pass car park. Resolving our transport issue and allowing us to compete our challenge. With our injured man resting, the rest of the group began our ascent of Snowdon at 14:30 via the Miners’ Track with good weather ahead, and the previously forecasted thunderstorms absent from the new forecast. As we got closer to the summit some mist rolled in but visibility remained good, allowing us to hit the summit of our third and final Peak. We finished Snowdon at 19:30, returning via the Pyg Track, which proved difficult with tired legs and an encroaching shower of rain. Snowdon was ultimately completed in 5 hours! With Snowdon done we returned to Conwy, where we had a takeaway and a few beers between us. Spending the evening recounting our journey, with its incredible highs and it’s lows. Spending that last evening amongst great friends recounting memories to last a lifetime. Just giving link page: https://bit.ly/3uL3r1w
