Community News Gateway Church We are continuing to meet on Sundays at 10.30am on Zoom at present. Contemporary music, a short talk from the bible and a prayer time. We will also be starting an online Alpha Course (alpha.org ) as an introduction to Christianity soon. It's a great space to ask those big questions about life, God and why we're here. We also love to pray for people - please contact us if you would like us to pray for you. Please email info@gatewaychurchdoncaster for the ID and password or message on Facebook link: facebook.com/gatewaydoncaster .
CHURCH SERVICES RESUME Churches in Misterton have now opened for Sunday services. Things are a little different with social distancing, no singing, and communicants receiving only bread from the priest. Full details of dos and don’ts is on the pew sheets provided for those attending. Each church has carried out an assessment of maximum numbers to comply with social distancing.
Haxey Play Given the situation we find ourselves in, it is with regret that Haxey Amateur Dramatic Society will be unable to stage “Fairway to Heaven” in October as planned. Whilst social distancing might be possible for the audience, it would be impossible for the cast. We hope most people who had bought tickets will be happy to keep them for when the play is eventually performed. We hope this will be in spring next year. Everyone will be ready for a good laugh ! If however anyone would prefer to have a refund, they should post their tickets to Joan Young, 14 High Street, Haxey, Doncaster. DN9 2HX with their details and a cheque will be sent to them. We send our best wishes to all our loyal followers and hope to see them as soon as possible
CHURCH’S ANNUAL MEETING FOR PARISHIONERS The annual meeting of Misterton Parochial Church Council (PCC)– the Annual Parochial Church Meeting or APCM – is on Monday 12 October at 7.30pm in Church. The first part of the meeting is open to all residents and will see the election of churchwardens. This is followed by a business meeting for those on the Church’s Electoral Roll. It includes presentation of the 2019 accounts, reports on activities in 2019, and election to the PCCs. The final part of the meeting is for those elected to the PCC. If you would like to join the Electoral Roll it's a way of expressing your support for the Parish Church and it's free! - go to https:// www.parishresources.org.uk/pccs/apcms/ and click on the Application for Enrolment link. Halloween in a Covid Pandemic… Farmers are terrified this year’s Halloween could be cancelled due to the spread of Covid 19. A rise in cases has led to localised lockdowns – and many fear restrictions on movement will spoil a lucrative pumpkin picking season. Like most events and holidays that have taken place amid the COVID pandemic, Halloween is going to look a lot different this year. Obviously, kids trick or treat outside, which may make parents more inclined to let their children go door to door. Given the nature of the virus, parents are likely beginning to wonder what safety measures they should take this year. The most important thing is that families decide together what level of risk they're OK with this Halloween. For example, are you OK with people you don't know knocking on your door? You may not know 90 percent of the people that come to your door on a typical Halloween night! So it's thinking about things like that. What ever you decide to do, support your local farmer and buy a pumpkin; consider an organised local event or even stay at home for a family Halloween party. Keep safe this Halloween…

Still looking for new members ! Our midweek and weekend circular walks take us all over the Isle and a bit beyond, exploring some smashing places (sometimes on paths not even shown on the map) . We have enough walks (usually 4-6 miles) in our repertoire to keep us busy for at least the next two years without repeating any at all. Often we get to places that some of us just didn’t know existed . These are some of the places we’ve been to:

We would like to offer some crime prevention advice aimed at making it more difficult for criminals to target your vehicles. • Always double check your car is physically secure and alarmed • Keep keys out of sight inside your property • Consider a signal blocking pouch to keep your keys in • Use a steering wheel lock • Consider investing in a tracking device. It will significantly increase the chances of locating and recovering a vehicle if it is stolen • Check to see if you can switch off the wireless signal from your fob • Park your car as close to your property as possible or block it in • Check and make sure that no valuables are left in sight in the vehicle We take all reports of this nature seriously. If your vehicle is stolen, or you have information regarding a vehicle theft, please contact us on our non-emergency number 101, or speak with your local officers. Always call 999 in an emergency.

It was lovely to welcome everyone back to Haxey Primary School in September, even if everything looked just a little bit different... We have been working hard in our class "Bubbles", getting used to having lunch in our classrooms, and having fun on the different zones on the field and playground everybody has done a super job of getting used to our new routines and it feels like we've never been away! Year 2 are already enjoying their topic of the park, and in Year 5 we're finding out all about the Anglo - Saxons. Year 1 have been enjoying their enhanced outdoor area, and our Year 6s have been doing their cycle training.
We are particularly excited to welcome our new F2 class into school - they have settled in brilliantly and have really enjoyed exploring the outdoor F2 area. There has been lots of super building going on and some great investigations on the sand and water. We are really looking forward to getting to know them more as they settle into school life. A big thank you to all our families for their support as we reopened our doors after the Summer holidays - it's been a great start to the new school year!

Doncaster Ramblers Latest Guidance on Social Gatherings Ramblers organised walks have beeen confirmed as being exempt from the "rule of six" restrictions that are effective from 14 September, because they are categorised as 'outdoor physical activity events'. That being the case, Ramblers groups can continue to organise led walks for up to 30 people. In our Group, walks leaders are setting limits for each walk, depending on their assessment of risk. The maximum group size for each walk is shown in the description. However, given the current circumstances, it is more important than ever that these walks operate under specific guidelines in order to maintain health and safety standards. Further details of these guidelines are available on the main Ramblers website and anyone thinking of going on one of our walks is urged to read these. Places on walks must be booked in advance. Appropriate social distancing should be maintained along with other personal safety measures. If you would like to book a place, please contact the walk leader who will reserve a place for you. Once numbers have been reached, the website will indicate that the walk is full. Please
do not turn up if you have not booked a place as the leader will have to turn you away. If you wish to print off your own selection of walks you can do so by going to the Walks Pogramme tab and applying the various filters shown on the right of the walks list (day of the week, distance etc) and then press the print button at the bottom. Please bear in mind that the situation is constantly changing, therefore whatever you print may soon be out of date. Walk Co-ordinators are actively liaising with walk leaders to maintain a Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday programme and new walks are regularly being added to our website.
