Welcome to the September issue of the Arrow. Summer is nearly over, the kids are back to
school, the greatest sporting event will be over and its time to get back to some normality!
Rio 2016, what can I say, my time filled with watching TV and some great British sports people. Many from our region. My memory so far apart from the glory of medals is the tragic crash of Annemiek Van Vleuten , only 11 miles to Gold, who suffered horrific bone injuries. Her team mate came through to win. Thankfully the Dutch lady is doing fine. All the training and commitment over the past 4 years to fall at the final post. I’m sure some parents can relate to this, taking their children to sporting events, training hard and following their ambition of one day going to the Olympics! The next Summer Olympics will be Tokyo 2020, Will you be there? The deadline for the October issue is Wednesday 14th September for distribution by the 1st October. If you are interested in advertising please be in touch before the date.

£970 RAISED AT LINDSEY LODGE HOSPICE GARDEN PARTY A Garden Party held on saturday 9th July in Haxey proved to be a great success. Louise Wright of the Lindsey Lodge Supporters Group exclaimed "Haxey has come up trumps again". The weather stayed dry for the afternoon and folks enjoyed a lovely picnic prepared by the ladies of the Supporters Group and listened to a superb performance from Take Note Choir and also the Notelets. Many generous donations were received and a total of £970 was raised at the event. Lindsey Lodge Hospice needs to raise £2.4 million per annum ( £4 every minute ! ) to cover its costs and provide care for its patients. News from Haxey Church of England Primary School The end of term soon hurtled towards us, and was certainly action packed! Years 5 and 6 held their annual performance which was enjoyed by everyone. It received rave reviews, and has been reported within a separate article written by pupils. Year 5 enjoyed their experience at Austerfield, they camped, den built, went orienteering and enjoyed lots of team building activities. All who attended came back exhilarated but exhausted - especially the staff! Year 4 teacher Miss Collins reports that her class have been a pleasure to teach, with particular highlights including their joint trip with year 3 to Murton Park, covering their 'Romans' topic. She would like to make a special mention to Scarlett Kirwan for being an amazing Roman Soldier! English subjects of Romans and Volcanoes have seen the children produce some outstanding work for which they should be extremely proud. Along with year 4, our year 3 class also visited Murton Park in order to support their work on the Stoneage. There was plenty of opportunities to dress in the dress in the age, in the fashions the stoneage people did long ago. All of the children made their own special stoneage pot to take home, and had a go at 'shooting' wild animals. Everyone had a fantastic time and really enjoyed themselves. Our year 2 class have been working really hard, and have sat their SAT tests. The class performed admirably and we are very proud of all their work and effort. We wish them the best as they enter their 'junior' years and the world of key stage 2. Year 1 have produced some fantastic work and have achieved great results in their phonics screening. They have all made good progress after taking the leap from foundation stage. Year 1 have been lucky enough for their outside area to be transformed into a magical fairy garden, complete with characters and bunting. This area is to be used by all in school primarily as a reading area and is shaded by trees for the warmer months. Thank you so much to local craftsman Mr Colin Mathias whose fabulous craftsmanship is appreciated by all our children. Our youngest class FS 2 have grown so much and have embraced their learning journey at school, with a highlight being messages from the 'fairies' in the garden. They have been a source of enchantment to the class and have structured their writing in reply to the fairies letters. We have been lucky enough to receive great support from out PTFA, who have organised various events for the benefit of school. Both school and parents, carers, supporters and especially the children would like to pass on their thanks for the great array of events they have organised, old favourites such the the winter and summer fayres, Easter bingo, the termly cake raffles, school discos, pop up shops to name a few. Their latest event, the Summer fayre raised a staggering £815 which we believe is a record! It was held after our sports day, and despite some showery weather at the conclusion, was well supported. Our extra curricular activities have grown in size and popularity. Baking club has been nothing short of a success story, and we must thanks our Nanna Cakes for taking time to run this popular after school club. Children who have been lucky enough to secure a place have baked some beautiful produce. Running club has also been a hit, again, run by parent Mrs Llewellyn. 780 coaching have supplied our after school football club which will be on again in the new school year. If you think you have particular skill you are happy to share with children in the form of an after school club, please get in touch and speak with our business manager in September. We are keen for children's learning to be enriched via alternative methods. Finally, we would like to wish our outward year 6 the very best of luck in their new settings and hope that 20 Please mention “The Arrow” whenourresponding to advertisements they fly high, and dream big. We look forward to seeing returning children in September, along with our new starters. Thank you for your unending support.

This beautiful boy is Judge, a 7 year old Rottweiler. Judge is a really lovely natured dog- he loves to be with people, and is very soppy and affectionate. He has nice manners, and walks well on the lead. Judge is ok with other dogs when out on walks, but would be best as the only dog in the house. He is not good with cats. Judge is neutered, fully vaccinated and micro-chipped. If you would like to come and meet this gorgeous boy, please call Isle Rescue on 01427 728705.

Phenomenal!! The only word that can describe Haxey’s Years 5 & 6s performance of Shakespeare Rocks. Packed full of comical acts and historical events skilfully woven into this fabulous play. A must-see. The atmosphere was buzzing, Mums, Dads and Grandparents waited in anticipation for the play to begin. Costumes were spectacular- realistic for this Tudor style, all children production. The spectators were engaged throughoutlaughing at the comical characters and the witty jokes. The pouts of the men-dressed-as-women and the women-dressed-asmen-dressed-as- women were far superior than a Super-model’s. Tears of joy were cried as proud parents watched their kids perform. The ensemble numbers: No Girls Allowed and All the World’s a Stage, were toe-tapping and the audience were dancing on their seats. “The choreography was in perfect timing” said Sarah Glew The exuberant finale brought all actors together for one last song-Show in the Globe. The show left everybody involved with memories to last a lifetime. Reported by Anna, Holly and Alice
