As the final frosts of January begin to melt away, we can’t help but feel a sense of renewal on the horizon. January, often seen as a month of reflection and resolutions, has had its turn. Now, February calls us forward with its promise of brighter days, warmer moments, and new opportunities to embrace.
February might be the shortest month, but it never lacks charm. Valentine’s Day offers us a chance to celebrate love in all its forms—romantic, platonic, or even self-love. It’s a time to reach out to those who matter most, to share a smile, and to let someone know they’re appreciated.
For those less inclined toward hearts and roses, February also brings the magic of subtle seasonal shifts.
The days, while still crisp, grow longer, and the first glimpse of spring seem just around the corner. Snowdrops and crocuses begin to peek through the soil, reminding us that winter is not forever, thank goodness.
Wishing you a heartwarming February!
The March issue deadline for adverts and content is Wednesday 12th February 2025. The Arrow will be delivered by 1st March.
Best wishes

The South Yorkshire Mayor, Oliver Coppard, is asking for your views on the setting of the policing precept for South Yorkshire – the small part of your council tax bill that is spent on policing and crime services.
South Yorkshire Police work hard every day to keep our communities safe and it is important that you have your say on the amount you pay towards policing.
The money will be used to tackle the issues that you are telling us that are important:
♦Increasing confidence in policing
♦Tackling antisocial behaviour
♦Reducing knife crime
♦Working towards Vision Zero - eliminating all traffic fatalities and severe injuries, accepting that traffic accidents are preventable
♦Preventing CSE and pursuing those who commit offences
The responses you provide will be used to form part of the proposal for the council tax precept for next year.
The survey will close at 12 noon on Monday 3 February. Take part in the survey by clicking on this link: https://forms.office.com/e/71LQhxePkz or scanning this QR code.

The Charity Christmas Concert organised by the Doncaster Wheatsheaf Singers and supported by The Co-op on Saturday 14th December 2024 at Doncaster Minster was once again a huge success.
The concert featured performances by The Doncaster Wheatsheaf Singers and Hatfield & Askern Colliery Band with a 20ft live Minster Christmas (Memory) Tree creating a wonderful backdrop for the evening.
The performers, The Minster staff, Co-op Food, Funeralcare and our local Co-op Membership team all worked together both before the event and on the night to provide a wonderful evening's entertainment which also included refreshments during the interval.
The refreshments and many of the raffle prizes were once again provided and served by our local Coop stores and their management staff. This was yet again a fantastic turnout by the people of Doncaster to support a great cause, Doncaster Cancer Detection Trust. Proceeds from the concert raised an amazing £2023. A cheque for this amount was presented to representatives of the charity in Doncaster Minster on Wednesday 15th January 2025.
This year the Memory Christmas tree in the Minster (which was also donated by Doncaster Coop Funeralcare) raised a further £128.17 which has been donated to the Coop's Na onal Charity "Barnados". Dorothy Miller, Chair of the Doncaster Wheatsheaf Singers who helped to organise the concert wished to extend her thanks not only to the performers but to all involved, including the audience, in making this event such a highlight of the Christmas celebra ons in Doncaster."
The photograph above shows just a small number of the volunteers from the Choir, The Coop and the Minster who organised and delivered the event along with representa ves from Doncaster Cancer Detec on Trust.

We are happy to report that the Memory Tree last November/December made £1,747. Thank you to everyone who gave so generously and it was also lovely to see so many messages on the Christmas tree. We would like to sincerely thank our volunteers who always give their time so cheerfully during this busy season.
The Charity Christmas Concert at Doncaster Minster on 14th December raised a wonderful £2,023 for us. We are so very grateful to Dot Miller and the Doncaster Wheatsheaf Singers and also the Hatfield and Askern Colliery Band for making the evening such a resounding success. We would also like to thank the Co-op for providing refreshments during the interval. It was testament to all their hard work that the concert was a sell-out!
Should you wish to get in touch with us our contact details are: 22 Wood Street, Doncaster DN1 3LW (passageway to the right of “The Grumpy Goat Coffee House”), first floor (lift available), Room 104. As we have to send in our items for publication early the previous month it is not always easy to bring you up-to-date with news regarding our charity, but we will do our best to let you know what is happening as soon as possible. In the meantime, we would like to thank you all for your continuing support.

We are very proud of Caleb and Stanley from Year 6 who were runners-up in the Literacy Trust Maths with Stories Competition - winning some fabulous books they were presented with for their class.
With our recent wintery weather, what better way to start the new term than weather watching in Year 1. They have been doing a great job of monitoring the wintery conditions and seeing the changes as it has gradually become milder.
Watch out, don’t open your mouth too wide if you are near our Reception children - we have some budding dentists learning all about healthy teeth.

Our Year 4 have made such brilliant progress with their times tables.
As seen by the fabulous certificates and awards they are gaining. Well done.
We had a very first at Richmond Hill in the last week running up to the Christmas break with a choral collaboration. Richmond Hill Primary Choir were joined by Barnburgh Male Voice Choir for a spectacular night of music.
