At last, the rain has stopped! Not wanting to jinx this lovely weather, really hope it stays with us for the Summer.
Huge congratulations to all of the year 6 students who have now completed their SATs, and best of luck to year 11 as they start their GCSE s. Just remember, your results do not define you, do your best and hold your head up high for trying, what ever the result.
The July issue deadline for adverts and content is Wednesday 19th June. The Arrow will be delivered by 1st July 2024.

St Mary’s Sprotbrough MU’s Spring Cream Tea a huge success!
St Mary’s Sprotbrough Mothers’ Union Branch held a Spring Cream Tea recently to raise funds for AFIA (Away from It All holidays). As our photograph shows, it was very well attended and in the two hours it was held over seventy cream teas were made and served with an impressive £720.00 raised! Sales on various stalls contributed to this total. Homemade cakes performed well as always and a new winner this year was the mystery gift stall! It was good to see so much support from the community for such a worthy cause; a most enjoyable afternoon for all!

Yorkshire Brain Tumor Charity
It is the 21st Anniversary Year for Yorkshire Brain Tumor Research. Here in Sprotbrough, we have a group of residents who support the charity by joining together on a monthly basis for a coffee drop-in at the home of Janet Strawbridge. This drop-in is open to anyone who wants to come along, socialise, enjoy drinks and cakes in return for a small donation, all of which goes to the charity.
Janet’s first husband, Alastair Graves died of a Grade 4 Glioblastoma brain tumor in 2013, and with family and friends, Janet became an Ambassador for the charity, encouraging fundraising events to support the charity regarding research and support for others suffering with brain tumors in the Yorkshire region. To this end, as a group, we have arranged 21 events this year to support the charity. The remaining events are as follows:

DETECTION TRUST
June….the month of lovely long sunny days and evenings (we hope).
As you know, our charity tries to support as many different cancers as possible. At our last internal meeting we decided we would try and concentrate this time on those cancers which don’t always get a lot of publicity. Some are hard to detect or have a high morbidity rate such as pancreatic, testicular, bowel and bladder cancers. Naturally it will depend on talks with Doncaster Royal Infirmary as to the kind of equipment they need. Hopefully we will be able to report back next month with further information.
In the meantime, our contact details are: 22 Wood Street, Doncaster DN1 3LW (entrance by the side of Kerry Gough Florists), first floor (lift available), Room 104. Tel. 01302 325029. Email: info@dcdt.co.uk. Website: dcdt.co.uk. As the office is not fully manned it is best to Email or telephone in advance if you are thinking of coming to see us. Cancer never seems to rest, but neither will we and together we will continue the fight!
