Wow, what a summer! I hope everyone managed to get some sun in August after the wet July we had!
We are so very lucky to have the Yorkshire Wildlife Park in Doncaster and the summer concerts. To have an amazing attraction on our doorstep which offers something for everyone is incredible.
As September draws closer, we focus on the new academic year ahead. I hope all students who are embarking on a new chapter of their life, got what they needed from their results. I have just watched England Lionesses, lose the world cup. They will be devastated but in time will recognise the huge step made in woman's sport, with more and more girls choosing sport now than ever before.
The October issue deadline for adverts and content is Wednesday 13th September The Arrow will be delivered by 1st October.

Year 6 enjoyed a fabulous leavers’ party with Mr Lodge providing the DJ set - they have been such a fantastic cohort and we wish them every success in secondary school.
Our Year 4 have certainly been rock heroes this year taking on the times table challenges like superstars. To mark this, they were awarded these special badgeswell done we are proud of you all.
What a wonderful visit our Y5 had to the Great Yorkshire Show - they thoroughly enjoyed bringing to life their 'Sow, Grow and Farm' topic.

Eagle-eyed readers may have spotted our installation team working on the green with ropes, harnesses and a cherry picker. They have been climbing and wrapping trees around the green with thousands of lights and many metres of electric cables. This is all in preparation for our biggest ever display with SwitchOn on 25th November.
Safety signs are on the trees and we ask that you Stay Safe and help us to make sure Sprotbrough has the most amazing display this year!

Whilst the weather forecast had not been too promising we managed to go ahead with our plans for sports day on Tuesday 27th June with just a few minor tweaks!
It was lovely to see the children from all year groups enjoying this occasion and cheering each other on during the races. It is important to develop positive attitudes to physical activity at a young age so we are proud of the way everyone was included and able to join in. Thank you for your support and encouragement – the children really appreciated it!
After weeks of practising, most of our Year 2 children attended the Doncaster Music Hub Sing Out event at The Dome on Wednesday 21st June 2023. This experience provided a valuable opportunity for children to develop their perseverence, resilience and collaboration – all essential behaviours for learning. The late night did not dampen our spirits in the slightest and we showed that the children at Orchard can sing and dance with the best of them! Feedback from the children was fantastic, with some of their quotes including:
“This has been the best day of my life!”
“It was amazing! My tummy felt happy.”
“I felt proud because all my family came to watch me.”
“When I saw all the people I felt scared because I’ve never performed in front of a live audience before.” It was also wonderful to hear leaders from other schools praising our children for their behaviour and enthusiasm. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the adults who supported this event, including the hard work of staff members from Doncaster Music Hub and the team at darts. WELL DONE TO ALL INVOLVED!
The children in Year 2 have enjoyed their first transition visits to Copley Junior School where most children will be continuing their educational journey when they start in Year 3 this September. All other year groups have also enjoyed visiting their new classroom to meet their new teacher and find out more about their next steps in readiness for September.
