Sprotbrough Arrow

Page 1

As we bid farewell to a lovely summer, I hope everyone had the chance to relax and recharge, whether you enjoyed quality time with loved ones at home or explored new destinations.

The start of September signals the beginning of a new academic year, brimming with excitement and potential. Ahead lies a wealth of opportunities—school trips that spark curiosity, sporting events that inspire teamwork, and celebrations of key milestones that bring us together. It’s also a time for forging new friendships and embracing the journey that education offers.

I want to extend heartfelt congratulations to all who received exam results this summer. Whether you're preparing to embark on a new adventure at college or university, beginning an apprenticeship, or exploring a different path, this is a moment to be proud of. Your hard work has paid off, and now, a world of opportunities awaits. Embrace this exciting chapter with confidence and enthusiasm.

The October issue deadline for adverts and content is Wednesday 18th September. The Arrow will be delivered by 1st October 2024.

Best wishes

September Events at

Doncaster Mansion House, High Street, Doncaster

The Friends of Doncaster Mansion House are supporting the national Heritage Open Days this year by running two events. At 2.00 on Friday 6th September, there will be a free illustrated talk in the first floor ballroom by Professor Jim Watt, the director of eighteenth century studies at York University, about the rise of tourism in Britain and Ireland in the Georgian period.

On Saturday 7th September there will be a special Open Day at the Mansion House from 10.30 until 2.00. There will be guided tours from our experienced volunteer guides, some in period costume, a Children’s trail, and Lottie from ‘Dance the Past’ will run a free dance workshop from 12 – 1. Light refreshments available. We look forward to welcoming you to this magnificent building in the city centre, Grade 1 listed, and one of only three Mansion Houses in the country.

For further information, or to book a place at the talk or dance workshop, please contact secretaryfodmh@gmail.com.

The Friends of Doncaster Mansion House is a registered charity. Our volunteers support the Open Days and private tours, carry out research and raise money to support the building and its collections. www.mansionhousedoncaster.com

Wonderful Whitby

Year 2 had the “best day EVER” in Whitby! It was wonderful to spot landmarks and coastal features that they've been learning about in their Coastlines topic! The sun must have heard that a shiny bunch of pupils from Richmond Hill were visiting as it shone all day for them. A huge 'thank you' to parents who joined and supported the trip.

Full House!

On the last day before the holidays our children and staff enjoyed our famous celebration bingo! It was eyes down for some fantastic prizes to mark the end of a wonderful year.

We Love Books!

We recently held the last session of our Y4 Little Big Book Club. Parents and children have enjoyed lots of fun book activities and chosen lots of lovely new books to take home. They’ve been a fantastic group and Mrs Vickers and Miss Fairclough have loved the book chatter with them all!

RICHMOND HILL PRIMARY ACADEMY

Next Stop, Secondary School...

Goodbye and good luck to our wonderful Y6 leavers. They enjoyed a fantastic party to celebrate the end of their primary journey.
