Editors letter...
Things are a little harder for everyone at the moment with the news constantly warning us of heavy cuts in public spending and Christmas drawing nearer. This month, the Arrow has put together a centre page of vouchers from local businesses with different money saving offers. We hope you find the vouchers useful and please take note of the valid dates as each vouchers differs from the next. This month‘s issue is a warm up to Christmas with many local events taking place to help celebrate Christmas and raise funds in the process. If you have any thing you would like published in the December issue, please contact me before 15th November 2010. In the meantime, I hope you have a scary Halloween and a very safe and exciting Guy Fawkes night!

Hello readers, This is my second article in the Sprotbrough Arrow, I hope that this update will be informative and give you an update as to any current and upcoming Policing issues in the Village. Over the previous Summer months, we've had a particular problem with thefts of Bicycles and Shed Breaks throughout the Sprotbrough & Cusworth area. We've been getting some really good information from you regarding this issue and it has helped us to target specific individuals and make arrests. We've also managed to recover a number of Stolen Bikes as a result of pro-active Policing in the area and help from residents. It is always very helpful to me and my colleagues when members of the Village contact us and give us information regarding what they have seen, or any concerns they might have about specific issues. If people continue to do this, it enables us to tailor our Local Policing to your Local needs, rather than a more Generic District driven approach. So if you have an issue with something and you think the Police need to know, then contact us, don't rely on your neighbours to do it for you! As the Winter months approach, remain vigilant. Ensure that any items of value are removed from your vehicles when left unattended, things like Sat-Navs, or Christmas Shopping left on view are a tempting invite to thieves. Ensure that you have sufficient locks on your Sheds, Gates and Doors and that Bicycle locks are used on your bike. Over the coming months we will continue to patrol the area and look to be using our Night Vision Goggles to out-smart 'Raffles'.
Over the Halloween and Bonfire Night Period, please be sensitive when trick or treating, consider that residents might be intimidated by a group of 15 year old youths booming at their front door demanding a hand full of sweets & money! And remember the Firework code: · Keep fireworks in a sealed box or tin · Use them one at a time, replacing the lid immediately · NEVER put fireworks in your pocket · Read the instructions carefully, using a torch or hand lamp. NEVER use a naked flame to read the labels · Light fireworks at arms length using a taper or a firework lighter · Stand well back and NEVER return to a firework after it has been lit, it could explode in your face · Ensure that all children with fireworks are well supervised · NEVER throw fireworks · Don't drink alcohol if setting off fireworks · Keep all pets and animals indoors · Take care with sparklers, wear gloves to hold them and dispose of sparklers in a bucket of water as soon as they are finished.
If you require any further Crime Prevention Advice, please contact your Local Safer Neighbourhood Team on 01302 385178 and ask to Speak to PCSO Scott Christie or Myself. If you would like to attend your Safer Neighbourhood Area - Have Your Say - P.A.C.T. Meeting to discuss issues in an open forum, the next meeting is held at 3pm on Thursday 4th November at The Martin Wells Centre, Thompson Avenue, Edlington, Doncaster, DN12 1JD. Skincare Make up Nails Skincare Make up Nails Dear Reader, As Christmas is just around the corner with the attendant stress of purchasing and wrapping presents, writing cards and shopping to feed the five thousand, I thought it would be wise to help you plan your beauty regime in advance of the festive season. If you look your best you will feel even better and truly enjoy all those parties and social occasions. This month I‘ve looked at recommended treatments for the lead up to the festive season and next month I will address the exciting ‗finishing touches‘.
If you are feeling that age is creeping up on you, or if you are simply wishing to keep the ageing process well at bay, ‘Micro Current Facial Lifting’ is recommended for you. Its many benefits include: Gift Vouchers from Perfect Harmony? The Perfect Christmas Gift!
~ Lifting and toning muscles in the face and neck ~ Softening lines and wrinkles ~ Improving circulation ~ Helping to restore elasticity in ageing skin ~ Helping delay the ageing process And all of this is achieved safely and painlessly in an enjoyable and relaxing environment.
Make it last... A popular treatment at this time of year is Semi Permanent Make Up. Over the years I have heard many a client say ‗I am determined not to be without eyebrows again this year!‘ as it is the ideal treatment for anyone with sparse, out of shape brows. The procedure involves applying coloured pigment into the dermal layer of the skin where it will last from 2-5 years!!! Similarly, semi-permanent lip liner re-defines the lips and gives them colour, and semi-permanent eyeliner gives definition to the eyes. These treatments are especially suited to busy people or to those who simply find the daily routine of applying make-up a chore.
14
You will enjoy Christmas more if you feel toned and lithe externally and more balanced internally. The Body Boutique’s Wrap Factor aids slimming and firming by creating a rapid break down and elimination of the fatty deposits that may cause cellulite. The perfect treatment for those with a little black dress in mind!
This month Perfect Harmony/Arrow‘s Gift Voucher is going to a charming gentleman who lives along Park Drive – he will know who he is!!!!

The Family Table A while ago I wrote that one of the legs on my table was broken and has since been repaired. Talking to my friend Maureen the other day, she said there must have been a lot of human legs under that table. This set me thinking about people who have ‗got their feet under the table‘, meaning we became friends and learned to share our lives. I was also thinking about other tables where we sit with friends or make new ones. In the local café, at our Coffee Cup Corner, at the Tuesday Club and the Fun Day we have for families. It‘s great to sit and have a chat, play Scrabble, make flowers or paint pictures with the children. So many wonderful things can happen at a table. Do you have one in your house? Go on, invite someone to share it. Lots of people are glad of a few minutes with a friend. In our lives many things get broken besides table legs and bones. Hearts, when we are let down by someone, or bereaved. Promises we have not kept. Dreams that have been shattered due to money problems, loss of a job, or health problems affecting either our own lives or friends and relatives. We can soon be despondent when we have these hard knocks. Why have these things happened? What have we done to deserve these heart aches? THESE THINGS ARE NOT PUNISHMENTS FROM GOD, although we should be taking them to the Lord in prayer. Come again and sit at his Table where we can find solace, just as the song tells usO what peace we often forfeit O what needless pain we bear All because we do not carry Everything to the Lord in prayer. In His arms He‘ll take and shield thee. Thou wilt find a solace there. Prayer is so powerful, just believe in Him. He came to save us ALL. Open your arms and heart to HIM, especially if that heart is breaking. He is Jesus our Saviour. God Bless you all. See you next month Jean Scott
