Welcome to the February issue of the Well January was certainly predictable with its weather, one of the coldest on record I believe and probably the windiest!! Not the best month to start running outside, however, if you managed any exercise out side, well done. Once you get going its not bad really but it takes everything to get you motivated to brave the weather in store! As Steve Cram once said, ‘the hardest thing about running is putting your trainers on’, certainly true for me last month! I know there are lots of you who are planning to join the DAC beginners runners course at the end of January, I would love to hear from you to find out how you get on in February, good luck to you all! February is the month for romantics and once again, all our local pubs are offering something special to help you celebrate your Valentines Day evening, so please be sure to book as it falls on a Saturday this year! What ever you do, I hope you have a special evening!
The deadline for the March issue for advertising and articles is Wednesday 11th February. The March Arrow will be delivered the last full weekend in February.
Best Wishes
Michelle Sidebottom

On the 22nd to 23rd November 2014, the 28th St. Edmunds Scout Group, Anchorage Lane at Sprotbrough, held a Beaver sleepover at the Scout Hut on Anchorage Lane which was based on an 'Emergency Services' theme. Where the beavers got to watch demonstrations from the Police Dogs, sit and look in Police vehicles, clamber on board a Fire Engine, try some equipment, learn methods of communication and try on some Police jackets and hats, as well as indoor activities, tea, games, movie and supper. This was an educational and fun packed event which all the children and adult helpers thoroughly enjoyed. The Beavers would like to thank South Yorkshire Police Officers; PC Mick James, his dog 'Cash', PC Geoff Newton, his dog 'Grhyff' and local SNT Officer PC Lisa Richardson for visiting and putting on a great demonstration of how the Dogs work and allowing the kids into their Police vehicles and giving up their time. They would also like to thank South Yorkshire Fire Service and the Fire Officers who also attended this event, who showed the Beavers around the Fire Engine and how some of the equipment worked. The kids thoroughly enjoyed this fun and educational event. Also thanks to Beaver leader Lisa Pagdin, Ast Beaver Leader Kerrie Marshall, Young Leader Amy Wilkes from Ast Beaver Leader and organiser of this event Beverley Jennings. Anyone interested in joining Beavers, Cubs or Scouts please pay us a visit at the Scout hut situated on Anchorage Lane.

School News from
Copley Junior School
Journey back to Ancient Greece Well done to all the children in Year 3 for looking so fantastic in the costumes they prepared for our Ancient Greece workshop session. To launch their new learning project Zeus visited Year 3 – many thanks to Mr Twiby, one of our governors! The children had a great day learning about Ancient Greece and sampling Greek food. To launch their new project, Year 4 had an exciting workshop day led by our visiting Roman centurion. The children enjoyed dressing as Roman soldiers, they learned more about the geography of the Roman Empire, practised their formations for attack, made Roman lamps and board games and were able to handle original Roman artefacts. This made for a very exciting and motivating start to the new term’s learning project. We look forward to sharing more school news next month. Best wishes, E.A. Crayton Head teacher

Richmond Hill Primary Academy PITCH PERFECT!
Our new Richmond Hill Choir has only been up and running since September, but already we’re aiming for the top! Under the expert direction of our Choir Leaders Paul & Deborah Mellors from Rainbow Connection, our Choir recently enjoyed the experience of performing at Doncaster Minster in front of hundreds of guests who commented on the fantastic performance. We are now continuing our preparations and practice to aim for the competition circuit! We are very fortunate to have Mr & Mrs Mellors providing such wonderful guidance to our Choir. Rainbow Connection is a successful and well established singing company with an impressive track record of successes. Amongst their many achievements – the Rainbow Connection Singers are through to the National Selection of the Choir of the Year for the 3rd successive time and a former student is playing Franki Valli in Jersey Boys! From Sprotbrough to the Albert Hall – watch this space!
