WHAT I DO WHEN I’M NOT MAKING THINGS Eating eggs. Having personal dance parties. Convincing myself that I have various diseases, actually believing it, then having to talk myself out of it.

I get really excited when I make up a good rhyme or alliteration and I usually try to make drawings out of these, even if they’re just typographic. I also love visual puns.

ABOUT MFA received from Indiana University in 2012 My sculpture is presented as an analogy to several facets of overwhelming internet culture and ushers the encountered information into degeneracy. Inspired by Guy Debord, teenage Tumblr blog culture and traditional Chinese water containers, this work is created from diverse materials such as clay,found objects, plaster, neon plastilina, and ooze. Through this diversity the onslaught of information is contemplated as each bit quickly becomes detached from the source, then coalesces with others to produce a new fragmented generality. This generality is in each sculpture: a multi-colored viscous substance that gradually drains out of each sculpture onto the gallery floor. This artwork enacts a performative gesture that becomes a spectacle of the decontextualized and sourceless information traveling the internet.

ABOUT I am Maximum Russell, 18, from Long Island. I’m a sophomore at SUNY Purchase. I like taking pictures. For the past few years I have strictly used analog cameras until last semester when my roommate Craig started lending me his Fujifilm x100. Since then I’ve been really into digital photography as well as motion picture.
WHAT I DO WHEN I’M NOT MAKING THINGS I like skateboarding and I read a lot. Albert Camus, Haruki Murakami, and Aldous Huxley are some of my favorite authors.

ABOUT My name is Nicasio Fernandez. I’m an artist. I love distortion and wonky looking work. Which relates to the type of art I make. No one is perfect so why not play around with it? When producing works, I like to have a glass of wine near, and my mind as blank as the canvas. With minimal thoughts in mind, the characters, forms and shapes are purely imaginative. These emerge from motions, lines and perspective . I call my process of work “thoughtless connections”.
WHAT I DO WHEN I’M NOT MAKING THINGS When I’m not making artwork I tend to be hanging out with my cat, Chief. He is a boss. If I’m not with him I’m either skateboarding, filming or looking for spots with some friends. I also watch a lot of Bob’s Burgers and Workaholics. When I decide to be a loser I play Halo 4, #isthatwack?
PET PEEVE I try not to be so picky about life and get annoyed at many things, just enjoy who and what’s around. Although I can’t stand the sight of coleslaw and pickles, as well as the smell and taste of coffee. Am I the only artist who doesn’t like coffee or cigarettes?

ABOUT ME Australian by birth I have a B.A. in Architecture and an M.A. in Art. Based in New York since 1999 I received grants from the Pollock Krasner Foundation, the New York Foundation for the Arts, and have been awarded a key-holder residency at The Lower East side Print Shop. My work has been featured in the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times. Recently I exhibited at the Bronx Museum as part of Aim 30 and at Randall’s Island installing a 16-foot high sculpture on the grounds. My essay on “TV cooking shows as pornography” is included in The Gastronomica Reader and was presented at the CAA conference in Chicago and at the Gourmet Voice conference in Cannes.
ARTIST STATEMENT In my drawings human endeavors are swallowed up by the effluence of daily existence where figures toil like medieval serfs in an urban junkyard. In other pieces the reverse is true and figures become giant bloated caricatures of themselves. In these pieces an allegorical fantasy of the everyday is created with an edgy line, splats of color along with diluted watery paints. This allows for the distortion of people and architecture, riffing on historical imagery, as well as media and reportage of world events—the larger aspects of life creeping around the edges of the everyday.
