One 7-foot tall set o f chro me shelving seems to have been the last kick in the butt this office needed. I mean, that and a serious goal in mind beyond being able to walk to the desk. There is a giant wall to shoot against without all the junk in the way.

The room has always been cluttered. When the basement flooded in January 2019, I had to move even more boxes into the office. The same way our list of projects includes podcasts, videos, recap issues, and side projects, the actual space includes a litter box, the dog pen, a photo studio, boxes of fabric, kids’ art supplies, old magazines, unread newspapers...

Weeks of going through boxes led up to buying the new shelves. Then one day I took everything from the office and moved it to the living room to start over. Four days later, I think we’re ready to accomplish all those projects this year. —Madeline
