special edition June 2015 When an email alert arrived for a new smaller con from ReedPOP at the Javits Center to be “a pure celebration of comic book culture created specifically for die-hard comic book fans, creators and publishers!” I thought it sounded too much like tickets to just Artist Alley. That is special, and I was happy for the elementary school art teacher I knew who would attend, and Kal was super excited when she brought
back Skylanders comic books for him from the convention, but I was still sure I did not need tickets to the event. There are so many people who attend NYCC because they want to attend a panel for a drama on ABC or get an autographed picture with a wrestler—things that have nothing to do with comic books—so there should be a pure comic convention. But I like to see all the weirdos and misfits crammed together.
