Cross My Heart coincide con la primera maternidad de Maya Hewitt. En sus obras se mezclan elementos de sus raíces filipinas con referencias iconográficas de la Madonna y el niño, componentes autobiográficos y escenarios imaginarios, creando realidades paralelas y enfrentándose a conceptos de valor trascendental como el nacimiento, la vida, la familia y la fé. Maya Hewitt (1981, Londres, UK) estudió Bellas Artes en la Universidad de Brighton y Nagoya University of Art (Japón). Exposiciones individuales de su trabajo han tenido lugar en la Galería Marta Cervera (Madrid), Nunu Fine Art (Taiwán), Misako & Rosen (Tokyo), 10 Chancery Lane (Hong Kong), Bischoff / Weiss (Londres). Ha participado en las las ferias de arte Frieze London y Art Fair Tokyo. Su obra ha sido expuesta en Thomas Olbricht Collection (Berlín), Reydan Weiss Collection (Oberstdorf), IMOCA (Dublín), SOKA Art Center (Taipei y Beijing).

The body of works that compose Cross My Heart came about after Maya Hewitt became a new mother. Combining references of the Madonna and child with autobiographic elements from her Philippine roots, the paintings evoke subjective visions creating parallel contacto realities and embracing concepts of transcendental contact value such as birth, life, faith and family.
