WELCOME AT REALTY 2017 Dear real estate professionals, Welcome to the 9th edition of REALTY. Our community has now matured to become the ’not to be missed event’ where around 7,000 real estate professionals meet to talk about real estate and the future of our cities. Our goal is to provide our community with a good view on market evolutions and allow you to exchange on today’s challenges and opportunities. New game changers are influencing our market: the impact of the sharing economy, the accrued transparency due to advances in technology and data, geopolitical earthquakes such as Brexit that have the power to destabilize the financial markets and, last but not least, the impact of urbanisation and densification. We want you to engage in a dialogue to better understand the urban consumer, the shift in life/work balance or the impact of an ageing population. We want you to comprehend how connectivity, A.I., e-commerce and virtual reality can change or disrupt today’s office and retail market. We don’t claim that REALTY has an answer to all these challenges, but we believe that REALTY is more and more becoming the place where these discussions will take place at a Belgian level because all the stakeholders are present and open for discussion: developers and investors, public authorities, retailers and end-users, construction companies, brokers and service providers. REALTY is becoming the personification of a strong community where the future of our market is designed and build. I thank you all for your large or small contribution and wish you a beautiful and inspiring journey! Mathieu Van Marcke Catherine Degreef

WHAT’S NEW? A NEW MANAGEMENT TEAM TO RESHAPE REALTY FOR THE FUTURE:
In February 2017 Artexis Easyfairs appointed Mathieu Van Marcke and Catherine Degreef to transform REALTY from a venue into a community. They form an very experienced and complementary duo: Mathieu gained recognition as a expert in real estate communication as founder & CEO of hooox, and as the co-founder of the Belgian Pavilion at MIPIM, while Catherine can build upon a great experience in venues and conferences acquired during the last 10 years within the Artexis Easyfairs group. Their approach is simple: becoming a community by focusing on co-creation with all our partners.
NEW PRODUCTS AT REALTY:
In just a few weeks, the REALTY team launched a serie of new services, tailor-made for specific real estate players: • The Project Gallery offers developers and architects a lean & mean solution to showcase their project at REALTY. • The Innovation Corner provides innovative (technology) companies a fast-track access to the real-estate community.
LAUNCH OF THE EUROPEAN ARCHITECTURE AWARDS:
In collaboration with Archi-Europe the European Architecture Awards has been organised for the first time and winners will be rewarded during REALTY. It has immediately proved to be very successful. No less than 327 international architecture firms have sent their finest work to participate in this new Award.*

Inspirational Talk: The future of living, working & playing
Organized by Talk Real Estate – KU Leuven & ULI Young Leaders Description During this ‘wake-up call’ we will discuss the evolution of our society to a more consumer centered society, in which the consumer and his needs play the principle part. Seen from a real estate point of view, this implies taking into account where that consumer is going to “live, work and play” in the future. And we should ask ourselves how the real estate market can anticipate and play a significant role in this process. What are the possibilities and challenges? But above all, “Are we ready for it?”. After a keynote by trendwatcher Stefaan Vandist, four trendsetters will share their views on “the future of living, working & playing” and challenge the public to react and share their opinions with them.
The trendsetters are Commercial part: Christophe Petitjean, managing director rentalValue Technical part: Antoon Soete, strategic consultant 3E Legal part: Rony Vermeersch, advocaat – partner Stibbe Financial part: Jean-Louis Appelmans, CEO Leasinvest Finally to conclude this inspirational talk, Philip Walravens, CEO Tribeca, will present his conclusions and view on “The future of living, working & playing”. This event aims to inspire and stimulate young real estate professionals to think about the future of real estate. The keynote will be held in English, the interactive debate and the conclusions will be in Dutch.
Entrance Participating in this event is free of charge, but for practical reasons pre-registration is required. http://pav.kuleuven-kulak.be/opleidingen/info/2949

The Service Flats Market in Begium: Drivers, Regulation, Benchmarking and Best Practices.
Organized by ING | In French & Dutch Description The increased demand as a result of the demographic evolution and the current low interest rate environment, combined with the discontinuation of the maxima (programmatie in dutch), have led to a sharp rise of investments in service flats. In order to develop a deeper understanding of the current market situation, ING has ordered a study at Probis Consulting. In this study, the differences between the regions are thoroughly explored, offer and demand are compared as well as a focus on the daily rates and surfaces of the flats per province, is included. Moreover, based on interviews, the critical factors to make a project truly successful are highlighted.
Speakers Julien Manceaux - (Senior Economist ING Belgium) Prof. Jeroen Trybou - (Senior Advisor Probis Consulting)
WHAT’S NEXT? REALTY 2018 In 2018 we will be celebrating the 10th edition of REALTY. We believe this is the ideal moment to shift REALTY towards a new model, better suited to the needs of our market. After listening closely to the market and in close collaboration with an Advisory Board of visionary decision makers from the real estate, we are drafting the new REALTY. The central idea is to build a strong community where the important topics are discussed. This community should meet at different moments during the year and at different locations. This will also help us to strengthen the community spirit among our partners. This also means that we will design new products and services to enable such a dialogue. From small selected groups to open debates, we believe that this new dimension is a necessary step to create and empower our market in view of the future challenges and opportunities. Of course, REALTY will still be the place where business is done and where people will network. We think we can help this process by organizing the right setting and processes. We don’t want to remove the traditional networking moments, but we are convinced there is room for a more structural way of networking. We are open for your suggestions and convinced that this evolution of REALTY will only be possible with the support of many partners, ambassadors and REALTY lovers. Thank you for your support!
