ith deep Texas roots in the art gallery world, an eye to exceptional talent and long time focus on her artists, R.S. “Shannon” Hanna has created two beautiful art gallery spaces in Fredericksburg, Texas for collectors to experience some of the best in contemporary art. Housed in restored historic buildings, both emphasize new, fine-quality work from highly collectible artists.
The gallery will promote & showcase fine national non-profit arts groups juried shows through the year, starting with Women Artists of the West running February through June 2018. The WAOW was founded in 1971 in Norco, California by a small group of professional women artists who wanted to work together, network, and pool their efforts in their quest for expanding their artistry, markets and painting careers. The gallery will also be hosting five evening receptions in conjunction with First Friday Art Walk in Fredericksburg. Artists will be on hand during the day and evening hours doing demonstrations for First Friday Art Walks. stablished in 1971, Lagerquist Gallery is Atlanta’s oldest continually owned and operated gallery dealing in original fine art. For over 39 years Lagerquist Gallery has represented emerging and established artists from the United States as well as Europe. The gallery currently represents over fifty professional artists. Featured here is the work of Andy Braitman. Andy Braitman has been exhibiting his work since 1975. Originally, the focus was primarily non-representational work. By 1995, he was married and had three boys, and had drastically changed his painting style. He has been developing as a representational painter for the last seventeen years and now is blending the first twenty years with the last twenty years of his painting life to develop his present voice and style. His extraordinary works of art reflect this fascination.At the age of nineteen, Aziz moved to Switzerland and attended École Hôtelière de Lausanne. After graduation he moved to Paris, France, where received his master’s degree at the Université Paris-Dauphine and began a career in hotel management. While in Paris, the more contemporary style of art moved Aziz’s spirit and his love of painting grew, eventually leading him to paint full-time. Aziz’s inspiration for his work comes primarily from his travels through Morocco and Europe. With a dramatic flair and a bold use of color, his imaginative visions encompass everything from familiar city skylines to surreal landscapes with spectacular imagery reflected on tranquil water. Each of Aziz’s paintings produces a different emotion in the viewer, allowing him or her to transcend the present moment and venture into a place within the mind of a passionate artist.

“As a fourth generation artist, I was surrounded by art all my life. My earliest memories of painting began when I was around 4 years old. Growing up with 7 brothers and sisters created some challenges for my mother, whose passion was creating beautiful works of art. Entertainment came in the form of building something, whether it was clay, paint, wood or paper. We were always creating something. I can remember painting with my mother on the same canvas. She would start painting at the top of the canvas and I would start at the bottom. When I grew tired, she would finish the painting. My mother and father opened the Ann Jackson Gallery in 1971. It is the oldest art gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. I always worked in the family business, representing well- known artists, but would continue to quietly paint when I could find time. Painting was something that I loved to do just for me. In 1999, I gave birth to a medically fragile child. His only chance to live was to rely on machines for the first four years of his life. When he was born, I wanted to support other families who had medically fragile children but who did not have the support that I had. So I began having fundraisers. The first fundraiser, called Auction for Hope, was held at the gallery. People were excited to donate money for my paintings! It was at this event that I knew what my mission in life was: to paint and do good will. Most of my paintings are of a turbulent Victoria Jackson, Spaces Between, 48”X60”, acrylic/canvas sky crossing over a vast landscape, but somewhere above there is always a glimpse of a brighter day coming. I believe through adversity comes tranquility, and I want my paintings to reflect hope and tranquility. I love all art, and found that creating abstracts gave me a good balance in my creative process. Although they are so different from my traditional landscapes, they give me great pleasure and the opportunity to just play with my paint. Much of my inspiration comes from my travels through Morocco and France. Morocco is a country with many colors, with rich forests, mountains and the Sahara. Along with the Atlantic and Mediterranean, it is truly awe inspiring. The beautiful scenic landscape in the south of France has always been a great influence on me. My favorite place of all is Aix-En-Provence and, like so many famous artists before me, I go there for inspiration.”-Victoria Jackson

illy Solitario was born in Manhattan Beach, California in 1972. His family then moved to Gautier, Mississippi located on the Gulf of Mexico. In 1994, Billy graduated from the University of South Florida with a B.F.A. in painting. After graduation he moved to New Orleans and enrolled in the New Orleans Academy of Art. He later received the Gwendolyn Ozol Scholarship Award and studied painting full-time. In 2003, Billy received an M.F.A. in painting from Tulane University. JUSTIN GAFFREY GALLERY S A N T A R O S A B E A C H, F L O R I D A
ustin Gaffrey’s style of art has changed over the years and tends to evolve continuously. The beginning days of his art started in a Folklore genre that told stories about life with Southern coastal roots. Justin traveled to Europe and visited museums that displayed Van Gogh where his work captivated my next evolution of Sunflowers and Poppies. These paintings were the launch of his art career.

Since then, Justin Gaffrey has emerged his style on a continuous basis by sculpting with heavy-bodied acrylic paint and using palette knives, spatulas and other culinary tools. New forms have developed because of this exploration including organic nests, wildlife, seascapes and lakescapes along with other coastal scenery depictions. In 2013, Justin Gaffrey expanded his art by including contemporary sculptures and mixed media designs. Justin’s contemporary works reflect the way he views the human condition and behaviors.
These pieces are very dear to him because they come from his inner self and are not so aesthetically focused. At the beginning of 2017, Justin Gaffrey started collecting objects he found around his house and outdoor markets to create assemblage art. He would take these objects and arrange them in hundreds of ways and take photos of them until I had a look I wanted that told the story I want to express. Then he painted many of these scenes and made contemporary sculptures out of the found objects. His latest body of work is called “Absurd Form.” With these pieces, he has painted wildlife forms to tell the stories of provoking thoughts that are lurking inside. -Amanda Kaiser, Art Director The Justin Gaffrey Gallery is also excited to announce the production of prints of selected paintings coming this winter, 2017 and 2018. aised and educated in South Africa, Clint Eagar found his interest in art at a young age. He attended ABM, the Johannesburg School of Art, where he was able to nurture his interest and skills in perspective drawing, painting, mixed media and sculpture. After immigrating to the States, he attended the Fashion and Arts Institute in Dallas, Texas.
Clint has a wide scope of talent and abilities. As an Industrial Designer, he designed gift and home décor items for national retailers and designed under license product for Disney’s ‘Pocahontas” & “Lion King”. And he has a licensing deal with Paramount Studio’s for five artworks for Netflix’s Grace and Frankie, season four. As he states, “I have many interests, racing and diving are some of my most favorite activities, and this is expressed in many of my fine art paintings.” His works of originals, lithographs and prints have been distributed internationally: in Europe, Scandinavia, Japan, Australia and North America. outh Walton 2017 Artist of the Year, Marisol Gullo, owns and operates Not Too Shabby Boutique in Santa Rosa Beach, Florida along with her husband, Tony. There they specialize in restoring custom furniture and is where Marisol’s passion for art took off. Marisol has taken her life experience and built her own, one of a kind aesthetic and vision. Growing up in Costa Rica, she earned her law degree and became a lawyer. She and Tony met in Costa Rica where they decided to get married and move to the United States shortly thereafter. Tony had vacationed in South Walton as a child and brought Marisol to the Gulf Coast during their honeymoon and she immediately fell in love. They promised each other that they would move to the area one day to start their family and sure enough, within a year they packed up and moved to South Walton in 2001.

THE JOHNSON COLLECTION S P A R T A N B U R G, S O U T H C A R O L I N A he Johnson Collection seeks to illuminate the rich history and diverse cultures of the American South. With holdings that offer an extensive survey of artistic activity from the late eighteenth century to the present day, the collection works to advance interest in the dynamic role that the art of the South plays in the larger context of American art. Located in Spartanburg, the Johnson Collection is a recipient of the Governor’s Elizabeth O’Neill Verner Award for the Arts, South Carolina’s highest honor in the field.

Sharing the Southern art it stewards is central to the Johnson Collection’s mission. Curated exhibitions travel to national museums of note, and the collection’s website showcases over half of its more than one thousand objects. The collection’s third touring exhibition, Scenic Impressions: Southern Interpretations from the Johnson Collection, is presently on view at Telfair Museums in Savannah, Georgia. Next summer, the collection will release its fourth scholarly book, Central to Their Lives: Southern Women Artists in the Johnson Collection; the companion exhibition of the same title will debut at the Georgia Museum of Art in Athens. ontgomery, Alabama has been given two magnificent bronze statues, thanks to Rod Frazer. The statues, by world-famous sculptor, James Butler, are in honor of our military who fought in World War l. One statue, Daedalus, is located at Maxwell Air Force base, home to the fraternal order of WWl military pilots, The Order of the Daedalians. The other, Rainbow Soldier, is in front of Union Station where soldiers, on August 28th, 1917, boarded trains off to war and returned as heroes. The Rainbow Soldier is a second casting with the original standing at Croix Rouge Farm, France, the site of their famous battle. A plaque is placed below the statue with a quote from Gen. Douglas McArthur: Two battalions of the 167th Infantry assisted by the 168th Infantry on the left, with the greatest courage and most severe losses, seized Croix Rouge Farm on the point of the bayonet. The unexpectedness and violence, and the difficulty of this vital operation cannot be overestimated; the gallantry and courage of the assaulting troops has never been excelled in the Rainbow’s history. A business and civic leader, Korean war veteran and silver star recipient and son of a WWI purple heart recipient, Rod Frazer is the author of “Send the Alabamians: World War I Fighters in the Rainbow Division. The book documents the bravery and courage of those Alabamians who fought in the 167th Infantry Regiment of the WWI Rainbow Division in eastern France near the end of the war.
