graphic and post processing techniques with the ultimate artistic goal of eliciting a viewer’s desire to be there or evoking a curiosity about the image. Harry O’Connor is a photographer who seeks to find the memorable image in the ordinary. Out-of-theway places are his favorite places to look. Jo Bolton, Left Behind
Don Ducey captures the remains of old farms, barns, mills, factories, bridges, and boats as more than a decaying relic; he captures the spirit, essence, and courage of the people who built them and then moved on. Brenda Wynne also loves to photograph old houses/buildings, old boats, and nature. She looks for interesting compositions, colors, and shapes when searching for new images.
The Road Less Traveled 311 Gallery “Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.”
Alan Clark’s pursuit of unique perspectives on nature, landscapes and beautiful light prompts frequent journeys along the roads less traveled. Jo Bolton finds beauty in senescence often found along the road less traveled. She loves to explore abandoned homes, barns and prisons that are rich in history, creating art from the items left behind.
According to Robert Frost, his poem, The Road Not Taken, is “a tricky poem, very tricky” to unravel. Is it about the rewards of surviving a tough journey through self-assertion or wondering what adventure you would have had if you’d picked the other road? As a photographer, taking the road less traveled can be metaphorical such as trying new techniques or different subject matter. Or it can be literal, asserting that a road less traveled will be more pristine; nature will flourish unimpeded and decay will reclaim the land. The members of The Focus have followed the road less traveled to find inspiration which they showcase in their own unique artistic style.
Join us this month for The Focus’s exhibition: The Road Less Traveled, on display until October 27th.

tutions, some of which has encompassed the use of scaffolding and cranes. “It’s important that our clients talk to us about their needs so we can accomplish what they want to achieve,” Bob says. “We have a loyal clientele who keeps coming back because of our service-oriented philosophy”.
Since 1974, Picture House Gallery has been Charlotte’s premier resource for the discriminating art collector, providing the most comprehensive ranges of art services in the country.
In addition to fine art sales and consultation services Picture House Gallery offers a full-service custom framing shop with over 2,600 mouldings, and such special touches as French matting, period framing, hand-gilded and hand-carved frames, 14-karat white gold or 23-karat gold frames.
Whatever your taste, décor, or budget, you are likely to find a piece here that looks as if it were created for you. At Picture House Gallery, the eclectic collection includes contemporary and traditional oil paintings, from small sizes to massive, oversized pieces. It also features watercolors, pastels, indoor and outdoor sculptures of wood and marble, art glass, and ceramics, along with lithographs, serigraphs, etchings, and posters. Many of their artists are nationally and internationally renowned artists collected by institutions across the United States.
Skilled technicians can also restore oil paintings, antique frames, old documents, and refurbish silk fabrics. This distinctive gallery offers an all encompassing range of art forms. If you have any questions about any of the gallery’s services, come by and talk to the experienced staff.
Fine art deserves the utmost in care, handling, and expertise, and this gallery has maintained the highest standards for more than 37 years.
