The Pamela Lawler Society What we leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of our children. Pericles
Thank you for helping to ensure she doesn’t go hungry. Now, please help to ensure her children don’t either.
Becoming a member of the Pamela Lawler Society will insure that the important work of Philabundance will continue for generations to come.
A Legacy of Fighting Hunger Philabundance was founded in 1984 by Pamela Rainey Lawler with the simple belief that no man, woman or child should go hungry. She started by heaping whatever surplus food she could solicit from area businesses into the back of a blue Subaru station wagon and dropping it off at the doors of organizations that needed it. She found that need shared by soup kitchens, day-care centers, emergency food pantries, shelters, drug rehabilitation centers and other social service agencies. She also found wholesalers, retailers, bakeries, specialty shops, restaurants, hotels and caterers who were willing to contribute to the agencies in need. In 2005, Philabundance merged with the Greater Philadelphia Food Bank to become the region’s largest hunger relief organization with a mission to reduce hunger in the Delaware Valley and make nutritious food accessible to all.
The Pamela Lawler Society The same values that compelled Pamela to make a difference, continue to inspire others. Supporters who choose to invest in Philabundance through legacy giving are invited to join the Pamela Lawler Society, which honors those whose foresighted generosity will help strengthen the ability of Philabundance to reduce hunger for generations to come. The Lawler Society serves to recognize their commitment, both publicly and privately, and to highlight the important role that legacy gifts play in strengthening our community institution.
Thanks to the efforts of Pam Lawler and others who followed her, Philabundance now supports the nutritional needs of underserved citizens of the Greater Delaware Valley. Legacy gifts to The Lawler Society will insure that programs like this “Fresh for All market in University City will continue for generations to come.
