Senior living on a bright and spacious campus. Situated on 84-acres along the Roaring Branch River in Bennington, the Vermont Veterans’ Home features walking paths, gardens, a stocked trout pond and a herd of Fallow Deer. It is a first-class residential and healthcare campus. Skylit corridors lead to lounges with expansive windows and each room has a view of a garden or wooded vista. The decor is warm yet restrained and well maintained by military spit and polish. Five distinct ‘neighborhoods’ are set-off from each other, defined by the level of care they offer and their unique features and amenities. Each is a safe and friendly community all on its own.
Each neighborhood has its own outdoor plaza. In the photo at right, our nationally-recognized dementia neighborhood ensures freedom of movement in a spacious but secure outdoor garden.

The best clinical care possible for Veterans and their spouses. Our medical director makes regular rounds with the staff to ensure oversight of every patient’s condition and treatment regimen. We offer a complete range of medical and rehabilitation services on our campus, and also coordinate with the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and the VA Hospitals in White River Junction and Albany to arrange for special services and treatment when needed. We are an independent healthcare facility operated by the State of Vermont. We are not a part of the federal Veterans Administration.
The Vermont Veterans’ Home offers clinical care from physical therapy through skilled nursing with a neighborhood for dementia care that has pioneered new innovations in the treatment of Alzheimers.

An abundance of events, activities and amenities. A big difference between the Vermont Veterans’ Home and other retirement/nursing homes are the options available for activities, entertainment, socializing, and education. Our philosophy of patient-centered care extends to the amenities designed for our residents’ comfort and stimulation. With Skype carts for family chats, music and memory IPods, a Namaste relaxation room, on-site chapel, trout pond and sports bar, life on the Vets’ Home campus is diverse, enriching and engaging. Most importantly, our staff focuses on each individual and their needs. You will definitely not find a “one-size-fits-all” approach here.
Our activities staff ensures a never-ending stream of things to do, ranging from a Father’s Day car show to visits by active-duty soldiers, art classes by the Vermont Arts Exchange, and fun social events.
