K AT H L E E N S L A V I N ABSTRACTION IN LANDSCAPE

Emma Shameless A/C, 48inx36in

New vision abstracted landscape paintings by Kathleen Slavin heighten our sense of the Boreal forest. The effect of light through branches, of sky and water all harken back to early responses to the rugged Canadian north by Canada’s early painters. As daring today as it was for those early painters, she forges new pathways for us to understand a subject so often left incomplete. The rimmed hard edges of shapes and luminous colour of her pallet create a distinctive clarity and insight to traditional landscape. Contact Artists in Canada about Kathleen Slavin’s work. MYRON SWISTUN BOLD FIELD PAINTINGS The paintings of Myron Swistun evoke a personal response to his creative process and it's interpretation. “I understand the ‘my’ making of art is a process that is guided by personal insight and the work of others who have had an impact on my learning and upbringing. I am grateful for the sacrifices others have made, so that I have the freedom to develop and create original and meaningful art. Artists such as Paul Klee, Joan Miro, Richard Diebenkorn and Botticelli have paved the way”. Contact Artists in Canada about Myron Swistun’s work.

JAN CORCORAN ABSTRACT IMPRESSIONS The work of Jan Corcoran is a spatial response using shape and colour. She is an intuitive, non-objective painter not working from preconceived ideas, but she attempts to engage the senses and create a dialogue, an illusion through luscious, juicy colour and sensuous shapes that express emotions and will spark a unique interpretation and connection with the canvas. The magic. The light catching the layers, the unseen made visible within the imagination of the viewer distinguishes her unique works. Contact Artists in Canada about Jan Corcoran’s work. D AV I D T Y C H O URBAN ABSTRACTS David Tycho’s Urban Abstracts emit the high energy and evoke a structured chaos of the big city. His response is very physical as he applies pallet knife and paint to canvas. The hard edge manner of his method defines the streets and structures with dramatic shimmers of light and colours vibrate and dance as new surfaces are created. Tycho’s work comes in a variety of sizes, but even the modest sized canvas will make your heart race. Contact Artists in Canada about David Tycho’s work. Commissions considered.

F R E YA K A Z E M I MIXED MEDIA ABSTRACT Freya Kazemi is an Iranian-Canadian abstract painter. Her journey in art began with pencil colors and pastels influenced by her childhood memories. JAMIE MACLEAN LANDSCAPE PAINTER Jamie is an emerging, prolific artist working primarily in oils. His paintings are more emotional, energetic and enthusiastic than technical and his great ability to transport the viewer to a time and place of fond remembrance. Large format oil paintings are his forte, but recently he has started producing “slices” of Canadiana on aluminum using the reflective properties of that medium to enhance the image. The aluminum changes tints as different temperature lights are reflected adding a variable and changeable feature and interest. Contact Artists in Canada about Jamie Maclean’s work. WENDY CARMICHAEL BAULD FIGURE / STILL LIFE PAINTER The versatility and talent of Wendy Carmichael Bauld can leave many of us in wonder. Initially she is an accomplished figurative painter and portrait artist. She has traveled around the world exhibiting, being inspired by what she has seen. She sees herself as an experimental artist too, but ultimately she gravitates back to her roots...that being figurative. Her recognizable style of painting sets her apart on the international stage, as she adjusts to found ideas, thoughts and changing concepts forcing her to step outside of her ‘comfort’ zone. As an experienced artist the bigger picture is always at hand and the many patrons who own her work treasure her art dearly. Contact Artists in Canada about Wendy Carmichael Bauld’s work. JANE HARINGTON IMPRESSIONISTIC FLORAL LANDSCAPES Jane is a landscape painter who is influenced by international settings from South Africa, Europe and her home on the Canadian Prairies. There is an intricate interplay between her still life floral arrangements and the wild grasses, flowers and textures of the much larger prairie. Harington’s work places you in the untamed and natural landscape; then untangles her sense of place through an unstructured exploration of lush, rich florals that fill the canvas with their beauty and vitality and sense of discovery. B L A K E WA R D SCULPTOR IN BRONZE AND MARBLE Blake has merged the essence of classical sculpture with the abstract where he aims for provocative figures that incite introspection, stimulating the expansion of our consciousness. Permeating throughout his body of work is the continuing search for humanity, activism, and our expanding awareness. Together, all of these ideas constitute what Blake calls intentional art, art with a purpose that leads toward collective action. This is what his dreams are made of; to inspire the courage to create a new vision of our world and influence the way that it is shaped. Contact Artists in Canada about Blake Ward’s work.

PRINTMAKING NIK SEMENOFF MASTER PRINTMAKER Nik Semenoff is not only a fine printmaker, but he has reinvented the art of fine art printmaking using the waterless lithography process. His original lithographic prints are rich abstract images built of multi-layers of hand pulled colour - one image precisely registered overlaying another, building up colour fields, some with precious metal ink inlays. Semenoff’s prints are very low editions usually about 10. All proofs are on archival paper. As a published printmaker he has received a Doctor of Letters from the University of Saskatchewan for his many contributions to the fine art printmaking industry. ABSTRACT DIGITAL www.artistsincanada.com accounts@artistsincanada.com

GERARD HUARD DIGITAL PHOTO ART In 2002 Quebec artist Gerard Huard purchased a digital camera and experienced what all photographers encountered, OVEREXPOSURE. As an artist, he now uses overexposure to his advantage. It took him 20 years of research and development, but now he paints abstracts with light. Typical “LIGHT PAINTING” uses a fixed lens and you move a flashlight around at night. My version does the opposite. Light sources are fixed and I dance the light on the optical sensor by moving the camera with the help of my computer. I work the color curves then create archival giclées on canvas. Layers of pigment are washed down on fine paper, then using technical pens and permanent acrylic based drawing inks his elaborate scenes of nature and natural motifs develop into intricately designed fine original works. These works are all hand produced and this labour intensive process requires years of experience not only in his drawing skill. THOMAS SMYLIE ARCHITECTURAL GLASS ARTIST Thomas has been an architectural glass artist for 33 years. He has designed and installed more than a thousand private, residential art glass commissions. His pieces are often exuberant expressions featuring abrasive-carving, fusing, laminating and pattern glass while referencing and incorporating traditional techniques such as hand-polished glass. Thomas often refers to his work as "practical art" because his glass installations transform their settings with colour, textural contrasts and control of light and privacy.
