NINA KOUKLAKI IG: @ninakouklaki

Nina’s artworks explore concepts around intimacy with the purpose to capture the connection and relationship between her and the person depicted. This way, she intends to reveal her presence. Nina’s paintings aim to challenge how people will handle being viewers of private moments and make them wonder what is going on. However, the viewer could also recall their own intimate moments when seeing hers. Artworks aim to interact with each other and reveal her enjoyment while creating them. These specific showcased artworks depict mostly the awkwardness of a moment by giving more value to the face/look and making visible something that someone would hide. They also bring up everyday, autobiographical moments in order to represent a reality.

In a world where engagement with raw materials is increasingly undermined by ever expanding technologies, she relies on traditional art making techniques to keep grounded and learn to appreciate the limitations and potentials inherent in each medium.
