NODNOL EXHIBITIONS

Introduction "I'm over the moon" is the First Solo Exhibition of Pink B, an Italian artist (1992) who prefers to remain anonymous. The exhibition consists of 20 Digital Artworks with which Pink B shows himself to the world and reveals his vision without veils. Pink B is a multidisciplinary artist, coming from a background in music composition. He soon abbandoned the "classical" studies to specialize in electronic music and only later in painting. "I think that today an artwork must be open and should push us to an introspective analysis. While music is the best method to convey our meaning in an indirect way, painting and visual arts, on the other hand, succeed to be more direct. Why do we make art if not to convey our message? " The recognizable trait of Pink B are the tears, which are stylized in most of the cases. "Why are you crying?", says Opera 34. Which is like asking: "Why do a child cry?". He cries because, probably, he is sad or uncomfortable, but he is at the same time the happier human being in the world. With the same simplicity Pink B poses questions to us, pushing us to see the world with equal freedom and authenticity of a child. "We are all an alternation of joy and despair, constantly projected into the search of the right and the wrong. But these opposite attitudes do not perfectly compensate each other, in fact I think that our primordial spirit of happiness always prevails."

Artist Interview Which contemporary trends in the art scene are you following and who are your biggest influences? There's no a particular trend I'm focused on but for sure I try to catch something from different art movements and mix what I like: street art, geometry art, surreal art, generative art. For example I'm a big fan of NFTs, which are an easier way artists could sell art material nowadays, and I beleive that the future discruptive artists will come from there. This is possibile because of the power of digital technology, definitely there are also some negative aspects but I love the idea to get in touch with collectors in a simpler way than before. What is your favourite art movement up to the 20th Century and how has it affected your work? Abstractism, which for me is litterally the generative process of creating an artwork and the only way I think when I make something. Abstraction allows a direct connection with your instinctuality, genuineness and inner beliefs and it's not predictable. I think that in an abstract artwork the main ingredient is the balancing between contrasting elements, every respectable artist reachs a personal and unique equilibrium inside a compostition. I suppose that you can immediately perceive if an abstract artist has something to reveal or not. How do you choose your themes? Is there a theme you return to regularly? I collect a variety of themes and I return to them regularly, but most of times under false pretenses. I'm always focused on society issues and more closely to the attitude of the person. My dialectic ranges from the loss of values to the constraints of the society, which are treated like the reasons why we make predefined and uncorrect decisions. Time ago I saw I video of Brian Eno saying: "I'm here to persuade you not to have a job" and I totally agree. All my artworks try to push the viewer to abandon the predefined behaviours and to spread an authentic attitude, in accord with his/her innate spirit.

Is there a connection between your process/the materials you use and the message you want to convey in your work? Yes there's a precise link between each color I use and the message is related to. I always start from the same color pallette and I mix the colors so that the final artwork has a specific rethorical meaning. Obvioulsy I develop secondary colors, but this does not affect the general meaning. I attach a brief legend of my narrative: pink = pure and genuine; yellow = bright and radiant; azure = I think at the sky, it's included in the "positive" colors; red = vibrant and energetic; dark red = dreadful, It reminds me the blood; purple = temptation, easy choices; black = evil.

How do you define success in an artist’s career? I think that an artist meets success when the world recognizes his/her message. There are messages which are current like messages that need years to be metabolised. I think that an artist has to reveal his/her message and that it has to generate a positive impact on the society. Many times we witness to art where the experience chokes the underlying message. I love the conceptual art and I think that my artworks are "concepts" but, in the end, I want them to have an impact to the human being. How do you deal with the art scene during/after the Coronavirus pandemic? Coronavirus pandemic redefined all the rules, included those in the art scene. For example, museums, exhibitions, theathers in Italy have been blocked for long and, most important, the Government treated art like something "you can renounce". That is not a congruous treatment in my opionion because i think art is capable to generate value added like no other economic sector. So in the end the pandemic for artists has been, and actually is, more an intense period of reflection and interiority in the search of express themselves. What are the next steps in your career? For sure my career will largely depend on how much my work will be shared and known. Despite that I'm also convinced that I will gain more audience as a direct consequence of my artworks quality. Personally I'm really enthusiast of the artworks I'm going to publish soon, there's more involving 3D graphic and music composition mixed together. I think that these artworks will synthetize my skills and will be like a completion of my journey. I will love to impact the viewer and to generate experience which involve the sight and the hearing.

Is there something people need to know about you or the way you think so they can understand your artwork? As i said I'm in search of communicate and spread a message of breaking rules and of adopting a proactive behavior. I encourage people to follow the genuineness of their actions. In the exhibition you will find lot of these messages. Artwork "64" is saying "do what you love" but the purpose is litterally "cancelled" by common beliefs. Again, there are also messages of "having no fear to present yourself as you are" or to "be romantic and don't be afraid to fall in love". Fighting against preconceptions is an hard path and sometimes you feel without strenght, you lose yourself, but I firmly beleive in a happy ending. What do you think is more important: the concept, the techniques or both? I think that the technique acts like a medium to get to the concept. I mean, the technique is the first thing that capture your eyes but it also has to lead to the meaning of the artwork. So the tecnique needs to be enhanced and to grow depending on your requirements and, most important, should be supported by your instinctuality and talent. A minimum technique is requested but I've always questioned if just primordial instinct and raw talent could overtake the technique. Sometimes I can say yes. When people view your artwork what do you want them to experience? First of all, I want them to experience positive feelings. I always mix vibrant and vivid colors which, in the collective imagination, lead to childwood emotions and thoughts. On the other hand, I would love the viewers to be amazed. I am developing more artworks as engaging experiences where I try to capture the viewer. All that said, It's generally hard to lead perceptions, I just hope my composition to preserve a sort of equilibrium besides the engaging charm.
