DEAREST TRAILERPARK REBELS We are so pleased to bring you this photobook filled with amazing moments and memories from Trailerpark festival 2013. Each page represents favorite moments from all of our talented photographers who were so kind as to volunteer for three days and nights to document what went down in Cph Skatepark this sunny summer. This year was the 7th year of putting together a festival that we love to do so much and we are extremely proud to say that this year was an all together success. I will personally use this opportunity to thank each and everyone who contributes to the making of what I consider one of the most unique and loving festivals in Copenhagen. I feel like the most fortunate festival mamma in the world, being surrounded with extremely talented, hardworking, sweet and committed people. You all know who you are and I hope we will continue to create magic together in the years to come. I will promise to do all that I can to keep this wonderful tradition alive.

• • • • • • • • •

And to all of you who year after year come out and support Trailerpark Festival, you are the best audience one could wish for. It is rare to find so much love and consideration shared in the name of a festival and we know that all the amazing bands and DJ’s that play for you feel the same way. Finally I wish to thank all the artists, light designers, sound engineers, bands, sponsors and volunteers who help create such beautiful and unforgettable moments - you truely rock my world! We can’t wait to see you all again in 2014. With love and appreciation Carla C. Hjort + The Trailerpark Crew

What was your experience like at TP13 this year? It was my first time at Trailerpark and I really enjoyed being there. Trailerpark had such a diverse and lovely atmosphere. I especially loved meeting all the others behind the scenes that were so passionate about making it happen.

What were you looking for behind the lens at TP13? I was looking for sponsors, people and art. I really enjoyed the art and to see the artist work on their artpieces all week.

What was your experience like at TP13 this year? I experienced Trailerpark Festival as a joyful celebration of arts and music and enjoyed the crowd’s positive attitude and common idea that the festival contributed to Copenhagen’s cultural scene. Music. Arts. Beer. People! - Overall I think the festival offered a great setting to an inspirational break from everyday life.

What were you looking for behind the lens at TP13? I tried to freeze and perpetuate the artwork and music as isolated happenings while simultaneously showing the Trailerpark guests interacting with both the art and the artists. Apart from that I focused on the vibe and mood within the audience.

What was your experience like at TP13 this year? This years Trailerpark Festival was a great experience! I found the atmosphere to be really positive and you could tell that the crowd as well as the performers all had a genuine focus on the music. It was my first time at the festival and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Especially because of the chilled vibe.

What were you looking for behind the lens at TP13? My focus was on the connection between the audience and the performers, but also in finding intimate and revealing moments that only can arise in the presence of live music.

What was your experience like at TP13 this year? Trailerpark Festival is one of my favorite music festivals. So to get to enjoy the festival while doing what I love the most was a very pleasant experience. Trailerpark Festival is always filled with a lot of love, great art, and a fantastic diverse music program. All those things give me as a photographer, amazing opportunities to take good photographs.

What were you looking for behind the lens at TP13? It is important for me that the subject interests me and that I have an urge to photograph it. I always try to photograph and select photographs that have been taken on an offbeat note. The picture has to make you look twice and there are plenty of opportunities to take such photographs at Trailerpark Festival.

What was your experience like at TP13 this year? Trailerpark Festival was intense, wildly energetic, and even quite sexy at times. Even though TP is relatively new, I got the impression that it was a mature festival with a very professional setup. It was a pleasure for me to be part of such a talented team of photographers as well. I personally loved how the music was so diverse, a little something for everybody

What were you looking for behind the lens at TP13? To capture and immortalize moments that are unique, authentic, and filled with emotion. I always strive to capture moments that allow the viewer to feel the mood of the concert and get into the artists state of mind.

What was your experience like at TP13 this year? This year was especially exciting for me since I was participating as a photographer. I was constantly looking for opportunities to document my surroundings while simultaneously enjoying the the festival as a participant. It was hard work at times but very rewarding after each day.

What were you looking for behind the lens at TP13? I like to break the rules a little bit and to create unconventional compositions. Find ways of creating visual interest by putting my own unique view on things. I was very interested in capturing the music and the atmosphere, documenting the lovely vibes that Trailerpark had to offer.

TRAILERPARK RECAP

TRAILERPARK RECAP Words and photos by: Flemming Bo Jensen & Charlene Winfred

Trailerpark Festival 2013 was rich in every way an art and music celebration should be: visually, aurally, and atmospherically. For a photographer, this provoked the pleasurable dilemma: do I shoot, or do I put the camera down to lose myself in the music? Even beyond that, watching technicians running amok with performers backstage, awash in cables, microphones and lighting gear, making a swathe of last minute adjustments and checks before the stage lights dimmed for the MC to announce another act, the question we often asked ourselves was: how do I reconcile the human ordinariness of what happens backstage with what happens on stage – the lights and sea of sound and the adulation that made men and women temporary gods, creating a world made tangible only by the fervent will of the audience? Small stages meant that there was almost no separation between audience and performer. The intimacy did nothing to diminish the power that the music had over the crowd; if anything, it delivered a connection between the performers and their audiences that would not otherwise have existed. “It was the first time I couldn’t hear myself singing” said Rangleklods frontman Esben Anderson of the crowd singing along to Clouds at a volume that overwhelmed their monitors, thanking them for what would have been a tremendous experience for any performer. Getting to see for ourselves, how an artist prepares for the spotlight, was invaluable insight into what it takes to be a star: MØ finding a quiet moment in the folds of the very curtain that separated her from the masses that would scream louder and louder for her as her performance wore on. Nikolaj Vonsild of When Saints Go Machine stretching his vocals to his headphones as the band set their lighting and equipment up, escaping into the zone with the efficiency of an established performer about to deliver his fans a mesmerizing hour of gratification. Hans Philip of Ukendt Kunstner owning the very air around him from the moment he hit the backstage, exuding

the incredible power and energy that never flagged for a second during the pair’s first proper concert act, which was a wild success by any measure: “who are these guys?” people on the floor were heard asking in awe, over and over again. While the separation between what happens on stage, and the rest of life is a common experience among all who do their work in the spotlight, getting to be a part of each individual story, makes the festival experience so much richer than just three days of musical goodness. It allows an outsider a rare glimpse into what is at stake, for those to whom performance is as much a part of the creation of art, as the art itself.
