welcome At Arts Central we believe the arts matter to grey matter. For the many Central Oregon families with back to school on their minds, this may seem like an appropriate catch phrase for the season…and it is! Learning retention, social skills and cognitive development all improve when arts are integrated into school curriculum, and our Artists in Schools programs ensures kids throughout the region have access to quality arts education. But we also believe learning is a life-long pursuit so we offer adult classes and workshops for all skill levels and interests. From intensive series designed to hone your talents to one-time Art & Wine sessions that are perfect for teambuilding or a girls’ night out, inspiration awaits! Explore the pages of this catalog and we think you’ll agree that there are a whole lot of reasons to “fall” in love with art this autumn!

our purpose Arts Central’s purpose is two-fold; to cultivate creative minds by making the arts accessible to all and to bring the arts into all aspects of community life.

Doing so provides an exciting new way of observing, interpreting and experiencing the world. This fresh perspective nurtures innovative problem solving and enriches all aspects of our lives. That is why we provide arts education services to individuals, schools and nonprofits throughout the region. We also collaborate with businesses and city governments to bring the arts into every facet of our region. Because the arts are essential to a healthy, vibrant community and when a strong creative economy exists, we all benefit.

Creativity ignites brainpower, which is why the arts matter to growing minds. Through our Artists in Schools (AiS) program, new concepts are brought to life and learning retention improves as students connect to curriculum in exciting, meaningful ways that engage and inspire. Invite a painter, potter, photographer, storyteller or poet to your class this school year! We work with over 40 professional teaching artists, dancers, musicians, actors, and writers who love to teach children and youth in their art form. Let one of our talented and skilled teaching artists enrich your students’ learning experiences by bringing the magic of the arts into your classroom.

Any Central Oregon school may participate in the AiS program. Please visit ArtsCentralOregon.org/artists-inschools/ for details, residency costs and application forms.

Fund the Future Sponsorship funds provide the backbone of support for our Artists in Schools program and allow us to channel our creative energies into classrooms throughout the region. In fact, we have provided more than 2,000 students in five counties with quality arts education. Here are just three recent examples of our work in action.

Bear Creek Elementary Dual Language Immersion

Without question, the integration of creativity into the school curriculum has been proven over time to boost learning and whole child development. The arts are particularly effective in teaching language and cultural traditions.

Elk Meadow Elementary Arts Magnet

Integration of the arts into all subject areas amps up student enthusiasm for participation in classroom activities and learning retention in all subject areas.

Juniper Elementary Technology Magnet

Technology and the arts are natural partners. Technological advances are simply not possible without creative problem solving skill development.
