Summer Exhibitions by Cromer based Pop-Artist Samuel Thomas “Escapism is a unifying theme in my paintings. There is often an element of the pursuit of something idyllic or dream-like. My art aims to offer sunnier visions of the world, even on the darkest and moodiest days we may find ourselves,’’ he explains. Norfolk landscapes remain Samuel’s main inspiration, but recently work has also captured scenes reflecting his travels abroad. Influences range from a combination of Pop-art, art deco and psychedelic patterns which result in unique almost timeless paintings. There is often a sense of romance and nostalgia within them, similar to the 1920 “come to the seaside” rail posters. There’s a great opportunity to meet the artist at two of his Cromer exhibitions this summer and to discuss his passion or just have a leisurely browse through his most recent works. Samuel has now exhibited in 7 counties in the UK and ships work to buyers as far as the US. He has been published in numerous art publications including the New York book - ‘International Contemporary Book of Artists’ yet Cromer in Norfolk still remains his home.
