THE FISHER THEATRE The Fisher Theatre continues to develop and grow with the times, with the Limelight Café beginning to really buzz and offer some lovely food, a new up-to-date box office system settling in, or rather us settling in with it, and many new faces through our doors. We are also offering a new membership scheme to our clientele, which is outlined in this programme, with great perks and savings for you. This programme offers you a great selection of wonderful artistic offerings from Ballet, Opera, Comedy, Blues, Jazz, Talks, and a great selection of Films. We’re certain there’s something for you all. In September many of you will be glad to see that Hank Wangford is returning to his stomping grounds, with a two evening offering -The Hank Wangford Weekend - which he promises will be unforgettable. We are also hosting an opportunity for you to acquire some free Dementia training and information, followed by a delicious cream tea, inspired by the wonderful work going on with the Fisher Arts and Social Club, which is growing by the month. In October we have a few don’t miss musical events, one being Rèalta,Traditional Irish dance-music band from Belfast, with effervescent energy and large dollops of the craic, Stipe, possibly the best R.E.M tribute around, that even Michael Stipe was impressed with, and finally a Fear-tre experience over at Bungay Castle for Halloween. In November we have Folk from the Jaywalkers and an opportunity to shimmy those twitchy feet at a 60’s Dance Night, with the wonderful group Samphire. Finally in December we won’t let you leave without some Christmas magic in the form of The Nutcracker from the The Royal Ballet, a brush with James Stewart and It’s a Wonderful Life, and a wander into that deep dark, fur hung cupboard in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. That’s not to forget our family panto Dick Whittington and his Cat which should have you all laughing together and yelling at the stage with abandon for some December silliness. We look forward to seeing you come through the big blue doors very soon.

ABOUT US The Fisher Theatre, in Broad Street, Bungay, is one of the oldest provincial theatres in the UK. It is more than just a theatre, it has spaces available to hire for stage shows, events, meetings, conferences, art exhibitions and parties. There are also three separate areas licensed for Weddings and Civil Ceremonies.

The Fisher Theatre is a registered not-for-profit charity and receives no on-going revenue funding.The running costs of the building, productions, staffing and maintenance are met solely from income.

There are many ways to support the Fisher Theatre, which is a not-for-profit Charity. We need volunteers to help us with various aspects of running the theatre, all of which can be fun to do and quite unlike many other sorts of volunteering.

VOLUNTEERING: Volunteers are active in helping in the following areas of ushering, box office, café/bar work, prepping, cooking, serving, setting up events, clearing up after events, hanging exhibitions, publicity, delivering programmes, putting up posters, helping with mail-outs, technical, administration, book-keeping, running promotional stalls, fundraising, building upkeep, improving the building. If you are interested please email: info@fishertheatre.org As a volunteer at the Fisher Theatre you receive 10% off the cafe/bar and are invited to regular gatherings.

FISHER THEATRE LOTTERY: When you join, you pay £2 a month, which is set-up by standing order. Each month two numbers are drawn, each wins £100.

FISHER STARS: This scheme raises funds for the upkeep, repair and maintenance of the furnishings of the building. You can choose from making a £5/£10/£20 donation a month. In 2017 these schemes will receive a membership card and quarterly updates.

MEMBERSHIP: Finally if you feel that your relationship with this wonderful theatre is deeper and you would like to become more involved, you can register as a member of the charity. Members have voting rights when electing Trustees, and become part of what steers the Fisher Theatre into the future. Charles Garland Productions presents Charles Garland and Alfie - Once Upon A Labrador Thursday 7th September, 7.30pm • £10 Charles is best known at the BBC for working in the Entertainment Department. He was assistant to David Croft OBE for almost twenty years, starting as tea-boy on Hi-De-Hi!, going on to 'Allo 'Allo! and You Rang, M'Lord? and finishing on Oh, Dr Beeching! as producer. Having left the BBC, Charles is now returning to his theatre roots with a book of ‘whimsical verse’ entitled My Labrador Eats Poo (not quite as disgusting as it sounds) and this stage show, featuring his Labrador Alfie.

Come to this free, one-hour information session and learn a little more about dementia and some of the small ways you can help those living with dementia. Cellar Nights presents The Ludlam Pikes Friday 6th October, 7.30pm • £8.50 (limited admission) The Ludlam Pikes are a Folk, Acoustic roots and Americana four-piece band based on the Suffolk / Norfolk border. Vicky is passionate about the protection of endangered species and has spectacularly formed her paintings to offer an illusion of how these beautiful animals can escape from the canvas into a safe environment. Vicky’s interest in physicality expands to the human form in terms of how we recognise and interact with one another. Pamela has held a life -long passion for textiles, experimenting with fabric and threads with a current project involving goldwork techniques.

Her fine porcelain ceramics are hand-built using sheets of paper, porcelain and painted with brightly coloured patterns, influenced by her love of gardening.

The largest room within the Theatre offers a maximum seating capacity of 160 and an impressive 240 when all guests/delegates are standing with minimal seating on offer. Unusual for an auditorium are the windows in the roof that flood the space with natural light. These can be blacked out if not required. Added to which are theatre lights that can create added atmosphere to enhance any event from the formality of a conference to an evening party. The floor consists of 60 individual floor panels that can be raised or lowered, to six different heights, allowing you to choose the size of the main stage, seated area, centre stage or even a catwalk.
