2023 At Life: Full Colour
Life: Full Colour has established itself as an independent art gallery known for vibrant and inspiring artworks by talented artists from Wales and abroad. Our welcoming atmosphere and incredible exhibitions have drawn in visitors and left a lasting impression.
In 2023, we will bring you a rich tapestry of artistic endeavours across a variety of mediums. The programme kicks off with an exhibition by our artist colony, followed by solo exhibitions by Nathan Jones, Jane Paice, Jill Jones, Louise Morgan RCA and Jocelyn Roberts. Plus, we’ll host a Watercolour & Sculpture Show, head back to the Manchester Art Fair, and bring back our popular Open Show for 2023.
Meet some of our featured artists:
Jane Paice
Jane Paice specialises in contemporary and traditional oil paintings inspired by the dramatic landscape and coastline of Anglesey and Snowdonia. Jane spends hours wandering through the mountains of Snowdonia, sketching, painting and taking comfort from nature’s majestic grandeur and permanence.
Jill Jones
Inspired by the large skies and ever-changing colour of the vibrant seasons in the very wildest of West Wales, Jill Jones works with light, moonlight and all the shades of sun and seawater in her dynamic oil paintings and acrylic works.
Jocelyn Roberts
Painting is an obsession for Colwyn Bay artist Jocelyn Roberts, who once painted the same scene outside of her home every day for a year. Jocelyn’s paintings have typically been dominated by the sea that surrounds her home but she’s recently turned her paintbrush to everyday objects – exploring the ordinary, mundane and often overlooked.
Louise Morgan RCA
Louise Morgan is inspired by the industrial ruins, landscape and bardic tradition of North Wales. Louise paints en plein air, capturing light, movement and the essence of the landscape. Then, she develops the piece in the studio, with the resulting work incorporating an elemental quality and revealing a legacy left by industries of the past.
Nathan Jones
Nathan Jones has a distinctive style which comes from his vivid imagination, developing his own way of working rather than following in the footsteps of artists before him. Nathan works in oil paints, using a pallet knife and his hands instead of brushes so he has a direct connection with the paint.
The gallery re-opens on 18 January 2023 with a mixed show from the Life: Full Colour artist colony. We’re open every Wednesday to Saturday, 11am to 6pm. Visit us at 23-25 Hole in the Wall Street, Caernarfon or go to www.lifefullcolour.com to see our latest exhibitions.
Walking & Creating in the Brecon Beacons
Help us raise £2500 to provide nine free, healthy, creative, socially rewarding days in the Beacons, where Artists & Crafters will share their favourite spots for a walk, followed by a craft workshop, accompanied by coffee & cake.
Taking place over 9 weekends, those who sign up for the walks will begin at the first venue where a workshop will also be taking place, and walk to the next venue, where the following weekend, another crafting workshop will take place, and so on.
In total the project will provide - 9 Walks, 9 Workshops, and 9 Healthy Days, leading up to the 9 days of the Beacons Open Studies Crafts Trail, taking place between 17th – 25th June.
We know that walking is immensely beneficial for our wellbeing and for our mental and physical health. Creativity is equally important, providing opportunities to learn new skills, develop confidence and increase our cognitive skills.
Both walking and making are also inclusive and help combat isolation, by
meeting friends both old and new!
It will also be the precursor to more walks and workshops during the Open Studios Crafts Trail, where we intend to provide information on how to reach each venue by bus, bicycle, foot & public transport, as well as publishing walk and cycle routes from one venue to the next.
We hope that you are inspired to help us all achieve our aims, and help facilitate events which encourage better health, social activities, and help communities thrive.
