Boroondara Arts present Boroondara Art in Festivals Commission Artist Brief An opportunity to present participatory artwork at Boroondara festivals. THE OVERVIEW The Boroondara Art in Festivals commission (BART) will provide support for successful applicants to pursue high levels of artistic endeavour by providing financial assistance for the purpose of delivering creative participatory work at selected Boroondara festivals/events. Working with Council, applicants will also be given access to in-kind venue hire. THE DETAIL BART offers one opportunity to secure a commissioning fee of $5,000 and in-kind room hire support to the value of $2,016, to present work from any creative discipline at (minimum) two Boroondara festivals in the receiving financial year. The work must be run for no shorter than two hours in duration at each Boroondara festival/event. THE IMPORTANT INFO  $5,000 awarded to one applicant plus negotiated rehearsal/development space  BART is non-acquisitive and non-exclusive  Creative outcome must be delivered at a minimum of two Boroondara festivals  Creative outcome must be participatory in nature  Creative outcome can be new or previously developed work  Successful applicants will be required to enter into an Agreement  Successful applicants are responsible for the transportation, installation and removal of all aspects of the work within the specified times of the negotiated festival attendance  Council will not accept responsibility for the damage, loss or theft of any aspect of the work ELIGIBILITY The following eligibility criterion applies to BART:  The creative work must be participatory in nature  The successful recipient must commit to deliver the work at (minimum) two Boroondara festivals/events in the receiving financial year  The successful recipient/s must hold, at the time of delivery, adequate public liability insurance as appropriate for the proposed works (as determined by the assessment panel) BART will not commission:  Individuals/groups that have not satisfactorily accounted to Council for the expenditure of a previous grant of any kind  Works that are deemed offensive or unsafe  Works that are deemed to not satisfy the creative participatory theme ASSESSMENT Applications will be assessed and applicants notified by the below timeline. BART applications will be assessed against the following criteria:  Artistic merit of the proposed artwork

Suitably identify how the presentation of the work benefits the Boroondara community Suitability of the creative work for presentation at the proposed Boroondara festivals/events Level of participation and engagement the work will promote with attendees at the selected Boroondara festivals/events Evidence that the creative work assists Council to achieve its vision for a strong and engaged Boroondara community
