Simon Borst, Dutch Plein Air Painter, nature is my studio. From 1994 I worked spatially, sculpting and modeling in Amsterdam. Since 1997 I focused on drawing and painting. Gradually plein air painting develloped. You can see me as an autodidact in the tradition of the impressionists. I feel good in nature. Elements such as light structures and spatial objects inspire me. the style is figurative in a light-abstract way. With great courage and sense of craft I try to add something new. I am involved in organising project around the world. Through my art I like to be connected with the world around me.

A ship to cross the sea of suffering

SPIRITUALITY IN ART When I’m painting, I enter a endless space without beginning or end. There are only feelings, colors and brushes. Since Einstein stated; E=mc3, we know that everything is energy, also in Arts.Kandinsky and others, like Beethoven and Ikeda, wrote about that aspect. You can always feel when spirituality is involved in the process of making of art. True art always moves you, makes you feel, and touches your soul and spirit. It gives you inspiration and it makes you feel refreshed. If you have an open mind and spirit, you can receive the deeper meaning and the energy will be transmitted to you.

Senad Alic, Paintings info@moba-art.nl www.moba-art.nl Senad Alic, born in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Hercegovina 1960 1980 Master class realistic painting 1987 graduated from the University of Nis, Former Yugoslavia Senad Alic has lived in Amsterdam, Netherlands since 1992.

Start signaal 1, 80 x 40, acrylic and crayon on panel 2012

In the past few years Alic created a series of paintings bearing the same title: ‘Trying to fly’. He painted images that invite and even force us to read the whole story, to actually live it and tell it to others in our own words. The figures Alic paints become part of a purely artistic search. They almost dissolve into their backgrounds and are defined more abstractly in subdued fields of colour and alternating contours. One feels melancholy looking at them, but the artist’s sense of humour and his optimism are always tangible. The colours are never disagreeable or garish, yet they are not simply pleasant, because the images are still somewhat uncomfortable, and despite the down-to-

earth title there’s always an inherent feeling of something threatening. The images seem simple enough, but they are layered stories, portrayed in a subtle artistic language.
