orn in London, Brenda Hartill emigrated to New Zealand at 14, returning with a scholarship to the Theatre design dept, Central School of Art, London in the 1960s, eventually
taking up Printmaking. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE). She has exhibited in London (Bankside and Curwen galleries), UK country and worldwide. Hartill’s work is experimental, abstract, and embossed. Collagraphy, painting, etching, watercolor, collage, and encaustic works. Her main love is abstracting the essence of the landscape in richly colored textured works. She developed a method of inking using primary colors on different plate levels, thus producing a shimmer of color. Her ongoing fascination is with erosion, weather patterns, natural textures, growth formations, and universal organic forms.
