CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR ARTISTIC STYLE?
“My artworks are both abstract and figurative. Abstract artworks most often represent nuanced landscapes. I aim to make people travel through the heart of our land to make everyone rediscover our roots and make us feel part of our world. Through my figurative artworks, I have a simple dreamlike, and sweet style. I want to represent universal memories and moments, love, friendship, and the delicacy of human relationships.
The colors of my artworks are always soft, never strong or bright. I love shades of green and blue and always try to create a color structure with transitional colors like grays or browns.
In many works, I use a technique of mixed materials; in this way, I achieve an exciting effect that enriches my work”.
WHAT IS YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?
“My creative process always starts with a good cup of coffee and some sketches. When I look out my window in the morning, I have a great view of the sea, I take walks in nature to seek nature’s inspiration, read poetry and listen to music.
“The Forgotten Land” 2022, 11”X11”
“The Road to my House” 2022, 11”X11”Nature is so important to me; it gives me great inspiration”.
HOW AND WHEN DID YOU DISCOVER YOU WANTED TO BE AN ARTIST?
“I took art classes at senior high school but always have been an artist. It was my dream, but I did not dare to pursue it.
My Grandfather has always believed in me, and he taught me to see life in colors and with my heart. So, in my late 40, I took a step into the art world and have never regretted it. To create and paint is just as essential for me as breathing is. I love to paint”.
WHAT MESSAGE DOES YOUR WORK TRANSMIT TO YOUR AUDIENCE?
“We are nature; this is an essential concept for me. Contact with nature can make us feel even more united. I want my art to talk about me and hope to be a mirror for others. And I hope that my artworks can make people escape from reality and, at the same time, give them an opportunity to observe the world through my
eyes. I try to make my art a meditative place to be in, giving the viewer a calm and mindful feeling”.
HAS ANY PART OF YOUR STORY INFLUENCED WHAT YOU DO NOW?
“I think our life story will always influence our life and art. We establish important bonds that we carry with us throughout our life, and the strong and beautiful experiences that we live become our life suitcases.
All memories and people we have loved and lost will be a part of the canvas I paint on”.
