A Letter from our Editor-in-Chief Dear friend, From the Arctic to Africa, the Earth is feeling the effects of climate change. The environment is deteriorating. The ocean, the land, and the air are suffering a process of degradation – with unpredictable consequences. The exploitation of natural resources for economic growth has resulted in environmental degradation. Oil and gas exploration, road constructions and mining hinder many aspects of the natural environment, like the degradation of forests and water pollution. As the world population keeps rising and economic growth takes center stage, the depletion of natural resources affected by the unsustainable extraction of raw materials becomes an increasing concern. One day in the future, our overpopulated planet will reach more than 10 billion people, and experts are already discussing all possible problems our humanity might face. This place we call home is only a speck in the vast universe: but it is the only place where can survive. Something needs to be done. What is our responsibility? With our special issue, "Artists For A Green Planet," we want to take a stand and join the green cultural revolution that is transforming lives worldwide. We share the works of the creative minds that have decided to take their love for our planet a step further, producing art from recycled materials or creating a strong statement through their work. Standing at the center of the green innovations are the spirited individuals who are speaking up and building global consciousness. These visionaries are the pillars of sustainable development. I hope that this issue inspires you to choose an eco-friendly lifestyle with a high degree of ecological integrity. Join us today in our work for an environmentally, economically, and culturally restored planet. Join us today in our work for an environmentally, economically, and culturally restored planet.

ward-winning American artist Judith Gale has created the exciting work in the cover of our Fall 2018 issue. Awarded as one of ATIM Top 60 Masters 2018 and also with the ARTYA AWARD 2018 (Artivists Of The Year Award), Judith Gales creates awe-inspiring paintings as a homage to the magnificence of marine environments. Working with mixed media, Gale harmoniously captures organic shapes in bright, bold tones inviting the viewer to pay close attention to the vulnerability of nature and how climate change and environmental degradation threaten our future.

FALL 2018
There is much to admire from this environmentalist artist. As Gales states, there is minimum separation between her art and the oceanic environment. Though each distinct in their sense, there exists an interspersing between her art and the beautiful setting from which stems her inspiration. In each work, organic colors, carefully rendered shapes, and figurative forms blend, permeating the work with layers of meaning evoking feelings of self-reflection from her viewers. This passion for marine life has led her to travel many feet underwater to explore the dazzling marine life, particularly of mollusks. As a lifelong www.arttourinternational.com
environmentalist, hints of the aquatic environment echo in most of her paintings. Apart from the vibrant colors and ebbing shapes characteristically similar to marine life, intricate patterns similar to those of mollusk shells are highlighted in her works. Her paintings are both captivating and reflective of the danger posed to the vibrant marine life that is at risk of destruction by human activities. As acting vice president of the Molluscan Science Foundation, Gale has stepped up her efforts to preserve the aquatic environment through her artwork. She also has been actively involved in distributing educational materials to schools worldwide. By introducing young children to seashells, she hopes to raise an army of future spirited warriors who will protect marine life from

human destruction and join in the preservation of the marine environment. Let's enjoy this exclusive interview with our cover artist. You've taken on a role as an environmentalist; tell us what are some of the results you've seen from artivism? “I hope that my art sparks a conversation about environmental issues that people may not know about. Most people talk about recycling more, about clean water, about climate change, and hopefully, they realize that these issues that we hear about more often are inextricably intertwined with the health of our waters and our molluscan life. People are starting to have the right conversations, but there is still much to be done.” Cont. Next Page

Taking us into the sea, what is it you wish to share through your art? “I wish to share the beauty of what lies beneath the waters. Most molluscan life is not visible to the naked eye; the natural intricacies of the seashell patterns lend themselves to unique pieces of artwork that I try to magnify and enhance in my artistic renditions.” What level of awareness do you feel our community has on environmental preservation, and what can we do to improve it? “I mentioned that we are finally starting to have the right conversations around environmental preservation, and I'm truly grateful for that. The most crucial change that we can make in our everyday lives that will greatly impact nature positively is to buckle down on the amount of plastic we use. It takes hundreds of years for a single use item to biodegrade. There are easy ways that our society as a whole could further reduce its plastic use, which is a major cause of the destruction of our ocean life.” Which of your works do you feel most inspired by right now?

Ahlfield's works take the form of realistic depictions and sensous compositions that showcase lushness of color, line, shape, and texture. The artist skillfully blends classic artistic figure painting styles with fashion illustration and modern elements to give a sense of femininity and elegance to her creations. Ahlfield’s love for the natural environment echoes in her artworks, striving to remind the world of the connection between humankind and the natural world and our duty to preserve our environment and endangered species. FALL 2018
How do you feel about the effects of environmental negligence in our global community? “Environmental negligence seems to be a modern way of life resulting in the pollution of our waters, extinction of our endangered species, contamination of our crops and the decimation of our forests. I feel that we forget how connected we are as a wholemeaning not only our fellow man but all living things in nature whether animal, plant or mineral. Our throwaway reckless society has lost reverence for the value of life in it’s many forms. Our only path to sustainability is practicing daily conservation as well as protecting our endangered species.” What role do you think artists take in the healing process of those recovering from natural disasters? “I believe artists echo the beauty in life through their artistic creations. Beauty is a statement of love and renewal, a necessity in healing.” www.arttourinternational.com
What inspires your creative process? “I’m inspired by beautiful colors, music, the work of other artists, musicians, the change in seasons, fashion, unique people, the perfection of animals, an evocative period film.” How are you drawn to your subjects? “I feel a connection to my subjects in some way. I appreciate their unique essence which is only partly their physicality. Interestingly, after painting a subject, there is an intensified bond with them.” What message do you wish to give to your audience? “I create a mood-elegance or even an otherworldliness. A moment of stepping into a slightly different world of idealized glamour rarely seen or experienced today .”

inviting the viewer to explorations of cultures on the brink of extinction. Creating with her art a document that will stand the test of time and will serve as a record of this precious world of human purity and authenticity. How has the world around you inspired you to take part in activism? “I’ve been concerned about the world around me, i.e., environment, for the last 45 years. Was “granola” before most people around me. I lived on a farm, had a compost heap, and still do. Always concerned about the quality of foods, even had a health food store for a while. I went to a school run by the nuns. They taught us not to waste, to reuse things, what we now call recycling. It is part of me and stimulates my creative juices. It is what I am. I can’t say I am part of activism, I am just what I am, and it somehow is reflected in my work.” Your work travels through the shoes of many, what is it about travel that influences your work? “Anything and everything I see and experience become printed in my subconscious.”
www.arttourinternational.com
What role do you think art is taking in the healing of our community right now? “I hope art touches the subconscious in those that see and appreciate it. It won’t affect those who do not see any artwork; unfortunately... healing is a long process, cannot be measured. Moreover, I don’t know if it works, except for art therapy.”
Any suggestions? “Just stay true to yourself and your intuitions. In fact be aware of your intuition.”

rgentinian master-artist Fabian Perez captures the authentic nature of his subjects while also narrating their story. His art is a combination of abstract and figurative forms that draw heavily from the ancient Shodo technique, which may explain the fundamental level of detail and unmatched diligence in his works.
“Waiting For Romace”, Acrylic on Canvas
Perez's paintings depict figures that, often, have a connection to the past, bringing a society that would be found decades ago back to the collective historical memory – one that is familiar but still has many fundamental differences. In many ways, it is a reference to his turbulent childhood and teenage years, which were full of emotional and traumatic events. Trained in classical methods, Fabian Perez works meticulously and engages in the narrative of each work. Each piece has a dramatic or romantic character, which tells its story. In his paintings, color, line, and light are orchestrated to give his figures a commanding physical presence. Portraits are among Perez' most highlighted works, not only because of their vivid realism but also because of an accompanied mysticism that shrouds these paintings. The pieces are rife with 18

reminiscence, as each stroke tells a story of his interaction – a novel-like tale that he shares with the subjects he paints. Perez has painted notable figures, stars, and distinguished leaders – political and spiritual, including the President of Argentina. Fabian Perez is one of the few artists who was given the privilege of figure-painting such special spiritual leaders as Pope Francis of the Vatican and Sri Sri Ravi Shankar (an Indian Maharishi Mahesh Yogi legend). His painting

of such humanitarian leaders is an outstanding mark that he has made in his career of figure-painting. The detailed portrait of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar includes his distinctive facial appearance, highlighting his peaceful essence and offering a sense of serenity for all that may gaze at it. Perez portrays the leader’s enlightenment through detailed technique and a great sense of joy in the smile of Shankar that is contagious. A skill that Perez showcases consistently is the accurate portrayal of both essence and physique. “Francesco” immortalizes Pope Francis in vivid detail, shrouding him in brilliant white robes with a similar white background. The painting much resembles his portrait of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, where lighting has been used for significant effect. The message conveyed is one of holiness and purity, using these works to connect and pay tribute to great leaders who stand for peaceful shifts in our planet.

His honor for humanitarian leaders and their ways, works, personality, and spirituality serve as great inspiration for Fabian Perez, who paints according to the inspiration that he gets from experiencing them and his utter regard for their contribution to humanity.
What impact have these experiences personally had on you? “The portrait of Pope Francis was the greatest experience in my career. As a portrait painter who likes to paint important personalities from our century doesn't get better than this. After having the meeting with Francisco, I sat in silence for a while and I said...now what?? ...who else can I paint more important than this man?” How do you feel art plays a role in healing our planet and our society from recent events both natural and political? “Refletions Under The Sun” , Acrylic on Canvas

"Art is in more places than people realize, it's everywhere, everything that humans made has been thoughtfully designed, and is a positive thing if it makes you smile, think, reflect, or give you some piece of mind. If this is the reaction of the viewer it is certainly healing. Positive things heal your mind, and as a consequence, everything related to it." What message do you wish to share with your audience?
"I like to tell young artists, or people in general, to focus on what makes them happy more than in what we want to change. I see artists creating from complaints, and that's a miserable life when somebody does that all their career. Madre Tereza ones said, 'don't call me to get tougher to complain against the war. Call me for a manifestation in favor of the peace, and I'll be there.' Inspired by these words, I paint what I like and never the opposite."

here is something strikingly museum-esque about A. C. Lindner’s artwork, an exemplary display of old master painting techniques that transforms usual day to day elements to sophisticated masterpieces. Currently residing in Texas, Lindner is inspired by her surroundings and her abundant garden where she gets her subjects to put on canvas. A deep-seated admiration for nature is easily noticed in A.C Lindner’s pieces, possibly a result of immersing herself in the beautiful Austin woods where her studio is conveniently located. She

mostly paints animals, floral pieces and various fruits in still form, capturing her subjects in realism and delicate detail. Perhaps rivaling her love for painting is Lindner’s affection and advocacy for the preservation of the natural environment. Through her art, Lindner declares her strong stance against the destruction of our flora and fauna which she so intimately treasures. In a bold show of might and determination, A.C Lindner joins a surging group of artists who aim to save the planet through art.

elieving that surroundings can influence one` s health and mind, painter and physiotherapist Aase Birkhaug has combined her two passions by painting roses for a soothing effect. Having fallen in love with flowers, nature, and painting from an early age, it was only natural to merge these factors at some point, and by combining the aesthetic beauty of botany with her skills as a painter. It is documented that colors have an effect on the sensory system, and some years ago I made the waiting room in my physiotherapy office into an exhibition for my paintings, so I discovered that it influenced the patient's mental state. My paintings are regularly described as very soft and mild. The color combinations I use are tastefully and delicately fused to make a motif that can be described as very soothing to the eye. I discovered several years ago that Roses have a positive effect on me, almost like healing, and the combination of the smell and the sight feels like a meditation, bringing about a certain calmness, this is something I try to reflect in my paintings.

devout Christian, prolific artist and an instrumental leader in the Vietnamese refugee struggle; David Chinh Truong registers a persona unlike any other artists in his group. Truong has amassed experience from various travels and interaction with other artists around the globe. He is also an avid researcher, a trait which has enabled him to master a manifold of techniques to perfection. Truong first began painting visual depictions of the book of revelation from the bible. He later started painting his dreams where he had erratic visions of eclectic beings including God himself. Most of his art is also emblematic of nature as he idolizes the serenity and beauty of the stunning scenery in vivid colors and captivating realism. Through these beautiful works, Truong hopes to raise awareness of the dangers we pose to the natural environment and our livelihoods by failing to conserve and environment. His spirited campaign for the environment matches his activism for human rights.

r. D i a n e H o w a r d Langlois’s paintings exhibit a clear sense of passion and professionalism, representing an unbridled spirit of adventure expressed in bold colors. In her artistic ventures, Langlois has braved the harsh conditions of both polar regions to give the world a glimpse of life in the Arctic and Antarctic. In doing so, she sheds light on the devastating effects of human activities affecting these delicate landscapes while also allowing us to relish the breathtaking scenery of icy frontiers.
Tell us what drives you to continue creating?
Her artistic works are supported by academic influences that add credibility to each painting. Coupled with an incredible mastery of color and aesthetic aptness, she retells stories of her experiences, seeking to open our hearts to change. Her pieces include serene icecaps, arctic wildlife, and people she interacts with. Her colorful accounts of life on the far-flung edges of the earth’s periphery inspire a heightened awareness, visual connection and space for self-reflection. Langlois is keen on advocating for change that starts with us.
“I had an open studio one day, and a stranger walked in. He faced my wall with about 30 colorful paintings displayed of moments I had experienced in the Arctic and Antarctic. After some silence, he said “I have always wanted to visit the polar regions but never have. Standing here looking at your work feels like I have been there!”. I felt validated in that the narratives I bring to my canvases sing the untold stories of unknown places and wildlife."

I need to go in with a fresh and open mind to translate a visual idea through the mechanics of my arm and hand and paint onto the canvas. I feel compelled to bring an awareness of our remote and challenged fragile ecosystems. If I do not paint the landscapes and animals of these pristine parts of the wilderness, I feel that a visual record will be lost. Unlike modern technologies oil on canvas can last thousands of years.” When did you realize your work was part of a cause impacting the greater good of our planet?

Ten years ago I became confused with news reports about climate change and global warming in our Polar regions. So as a social scientist I decided to go to these regions myself and through direct observation record the ongoing changes. I need that visceral connection. It may take 11 iterations and sketches, but until I have nailed that experience on canvas, I am unsatisfied. The life of a painter is a solitary one. However, I alleviate that by venturing abroad seeking new challenges for myself and reference material for painting. I know what an enormous privilege it is to be able to partake in adventures, then record those memories on canvas. For example, I just came back from a two week SEDNA EPIC EXPEDITION. It was an all-women snorkel/diving team of 16 divers. We went to remote communities in the Arctic and I was taken on as the resident artist. We brought and built underwater robots in the communities to show residents the flora and fauna that live on the bottom of the ocean floor. I have started painting a new series based on the expedition and what we saw titled “Above and Below”. We also sponsored two Inuit women to become certified PADI divers. The expedition sought to interest indigenous people in oceanography, science, and technology. Education and knowledge is the best way to help our younger generation understand why we should strive for a better more viable green planet. As the Inuit say” No one owns the land. It belongs to our children and children’s children.” So, let us be mindful to try and leave this planet in a better place than when we came into it.” For more info contact: drhoward@shaw.ca

ery few artists can capture the majesty of nature in its overwhelming beauty like Finnur Frodason through his photographs. Living in Iceland, Frodason has a profound passion for sharing the beauty and magic of his home country. His homeland also gives him a firsthand account of the devastating effects of global warming in its extremes. This includes the accelerated melting of glaciers, the change in flora and the dwindling population of birds in the area. For this reason, Frodason has felt obliged to campaign against environmental decimation through his brilliant photographs, teaming up with other likeminded artists in this endeavor. In a country of unparalleled beauty, Frodason captures the beauty and complexity of the natural world in stunning images. His photographs are a reminder that what they see today in his photos may not be seen in the future if we continue going down this treacherous road. Frodason hopes the world, like him, may not only look but notice the beautiful environment at risk. There is a certain majestic essence in your work, tell me about how you perceive our planet in its natural beauty? "Iceland is the least densely populated country in Europe, almost as big as the state of Ohio but with only 350,000 people. Almost 2/3 of Iceland is uninhabitable. ARTIST STATEMENT
I love to work a new painting intuitively and letting my spirit goes, exploring and experimenting with random and colorful in sintony with the brush, using distinct methods. Some years ago, I found this path for to work very spontaneously without restraint and judgment and listening what the painting wants to say me in an intimate connection with my feelings. So, to work on this way, becomes more free, exciting and a pretty good self-exploration. My most recent art works are developed with acrylic on canvas and the themes are correlated having a deep and spiritual message. For me, it is a thrill to paint, developing my creativity, imagination and intuition, living, flying and dreaming for revealing my spirit. It is a deep and intense pleasure.

have always enjoyed the confluence of art and words. Consequently, I often combine them in my work. I aim for a critical visual that is arresting, engaging, and perhaps even intriguing. Often, I will paint over a series of words. At other times, I caption the picture with a set of words at the bottom. The words are not intended as a description of the visual—simply a pithy editorial on the content. Lately, I have been experimenting with more significant works, such as huge wanted posters, and even larger windows which give the viewer a chance to witness some private behaviors vicariously. My visuals are relatively realistic with some loose strokes. In all of my work, I strive for work that has an immediate impact and provides a residual mental tickle.”

connoisseur in his class, Jerry Venditti is an American artist whose works break the bounds of reality and explore the infinity of expression. His vast array of paintings, ranging from botanicals, wildlife and landscapes, showcase an unmatched sense of diligence and meticulousness that befits his character. This, in turn, creates immersive visuals that jolt the observer into a paradoxical state, where an all too familiar reality is augmented to a surreal physical state. Each stroke is deliberate and imperative, collectively creating enriched realistic depictions of his personal experiences. As he states, his art is not inclined to “fool the eye” but to enhance what is already there. His pieces are lush, vibrant and unique in its recreation of the physical environment. Spiritual endeavor and a tinge of personal flair are key elements of his works. Venditti’s spirited

campaign for the preservation of the natural environment and conservation of our fragile ecosystem culminates in his many paintings of wildlife in their natural habitat and beautiful landscapes. His recollections are set to stir the soul and provoke the mind in a beautifully guided call for affirmative action. With every creative visual, Venditti speaks to the heart and mind of the viewer, paving the way for a more accommodating lifestyle for animal species on the brink of extinction. Venditti has teamed up with his son to form the nonprofit "A Face For Change," an environmentalist organization that spearheads the campaign against poaching of endangered species. Through charitable donations and various auctions, the organization has been able to raise awareness on the plight of dwindling species and ultimately make the world a better place.

by Steve Joel
Face of Change (AFOC) is a 501(c)(3) charitable nonprofit organization whose intention is to create sustainable systems that promote our planet's health and longevity. These systems are only limited by our imagination and willingness to take action. We are a community that actualizes change. Founded by Jayce Venditti, the organization has teamed up with Venditti_Art for Change and Gold щridge Publishing to help raise awareness of the plight of dwindling populations of volatile species due to hunting, mainly for sport and trophy. Father and son (Jerry and Jayce Venditti) have teamed up in a spirited campaign to achieve this goal through art.
Limitless in expression, art has been a crucial medium in advancing the organization’s mission. ‘Heroes,’ for instance, is a piece by Jerry Venditti in honor of the brave men of the California Fire Department who put their lives on the line to tame arbitrary fires that have increased due to global warming. This painting will be auctioned, and all proceeds will help the financially situation of the fire department in California. ‘Entrenched,’ a film by organization founder Jayce Venditti, brings to focus the plight of individuals with PTSD. The film revolves around two soldiers whose lives have been ravaged by war and have to cope with the after-effects on returning home. This too will help raise funds for people affected by this affliction.

“Entrenched” is a film written and produced regarding PTSD by Jayce Venditti who founded AFOC (a Face of Change) and T2S (Tyme2Shyne Artistic Studios, LLC.) It is a story about the power of brotherhood, unimaginable loss, the desperate need for peace in wartime, and about two wounded soldiers who are wounded and mutually fighting to keep one another alive. They return from the war the only two survivors in their unit in profoundly different conditions facing a new battlefront with a new kind of enemy—PTSD. The purpose of this film is to help generate funds to help people affected by this affliction.

The last element is used predominantly in two ways: Firstly, it frequently appears as the background to the human forms depicted, creating a colorful, dazzling background on which the human figure is painted. It is a technique that produces an interestingly different result, one thought that underlines and brings the characters forward instead of hampering them. Secondly, some of his artworks are entirely abstract in nature, focusing on creating rich and diverse patterns, once again drawn from the roots of African tradition.

By recycling dried up paint, she creates beautiful pieces with lush colors and vivid imagery. As a visual artist, Levasseur plays an integral role in the preservation of our ecosystem through her work. Her work is a call towards action and a compulsion to be more accommodating to the environment in our ways of life. Hosting workshops, and guiding others to find ways of reusing their art materials is one of her many channels for creating enlightening lessons for artists.

I am awestruck by the kaleidoscope of colors, complex forms, textures and evocative shapes that I observe on our beautiful planet. As I imbibe the sights and sounds of the Earth’s meditative space, I take time to connect on a deeper level. by Viviana Puello
ibrant colors, mesmerizing textures, and three-dimensional abstractions come together to create the mixed media canvases of Robert Ross. The artist defies the traditional rules of painting through the use of improvised objects that he finds laying around during his daily routine. Focus on giving new life to these objects Ross intuitively places them on the canvas, adding color, light, movement, and texture to his compositions. The result, 3D imagery that captures the audience with symbolism, and emotion on each layer. Robert Ross expresses his environmental message not only through the finished canvas but also through his creative process and materials of choice. The work is light and hard-hearted, funny and serious, innocent and even strange at times. It is like seeing the light and darkness behind clouds. Originally from North Carolina, Ross was born at the beginning of the 1960's. His inspiration was formed amidst the pressures and great promise of that era. His extraordinary imagination and artistic formation relegated him to a secret world that he inhabitant alone. Dreams of color and flights into depths of thought lead the artist to find a way to express himself with painting and music. 62

Robert says of himself, "I often find myself going from one medium to another. In any given moment, an idea may show itself! A smile, a landscape, people, sounds and more, often form the ideas that are constantly challenging me to paint - the goal always being to interpret, express and share the feelings evoked with myself and others. At one of my shows, someone I have known for years, looked around the room with her sharp artistic eyes and pointing asked, 'You did that, what about that, that also and that, too?" I laughed at her. I am amazed too that this diverse body of work came from one person, me. Her surprise at this unknown diversity that is Robert Ross was a great compliment."

riven by a deep-seated love for the urban environment and an acute eye for beauty, Israel born artist Shifra Levyathan captures the majesty of urban landscapes in stunning photographs, digitally altering them to showcase her perception and her creative spirit. ForLevyathan, the camera is her canvas, and digital software is her palette. Her works may be brilliant in color and lighting or grounded and monochromatic. Light plays a vital part in each of her pieces, as it is reflected or refracted by the surrounding environment. It is a representation of harmony and orderliness in an otherwise bustling vicinity. Her digital alterations highlight otherwise invisible aspects that give insight into social, cultural and sometimes economic facets of an urban setting. Through her work, Levyathan changes our biased view of the urban environment as an antagonist to environmental preservation. She champions the integration of urban life with nature in a harmonious and mutually beneficial pact.

It's losing it habitat because of our daily lives: A long hot shower after a stressful day. Drinking coffee made from a plastic coffee pod, because it's ready quick. Watering the plants. Recycling. She applies sensuous forms and lush colors creating a unique, engaging body of work that captures universal human experiences and everyday moments with love, compassion, and tenderness. Her signature style of fusing eastern symbolism with the western composition techniques with the application of bright, vivid, pools of undulating color has its influence from Rajasthani art, and she manages to put accents of Hindi and Sanskrit symbols in a highly individual way. elen Kagan, PhD. is a holistic therapist and artist. She believes that art heals and the world is now in dire need of the positive and empowering energy that can be conveyed through artistic expression. Her style and technique are based on the concept of "Healing Arts" which brings together the Art of Healing and Fine Art by using high-frequency colors charged with positive intentions and embedded spiritual messages so that the viewer gets an energetically balanced piece that is said to enhance well-being. Kagan grew up in communist Siberia where oppression and overt control were aspects of her daily life until she left which is why she is such a firm believer of artistic expression, with the yearning for freedom felt in every one of her works. She paints primarily with oils and acrylics and explores mixed media to produce "Healing Art" which is much better viewed in-person due to the use of heavy textures, bright colors and stunning vibrations on the large canvas.

Tinatin Vachnadze

orn in Tbilisi, Giorgia in a family of artists, Tinatin Vachnadze was exposed to art at an early age and the bohemian environment that came along with it. Her vibrantly abstract paintings are highly textured, characterized by a great fluidity and simultaneous contrasts, paying close attention to form and color, utilizing curved shapes that frequently resemble dashes of color or even biomorphic shapes. This is exceptionally important in the creation of movement within the composition, as when combined with the chromatic intensity, the final result is exceptionally dynamic.
Vachnadze's work and overall style have gone through a few crucial transitions. Since she had a classical education in figurative art, the majority of her early works were realistic. Along the way, she decided to begin her exploration of abstract works. She described the transition as very difficult, admitting it was necessary, as in time she found her voice in the abstract style.
These elements are predominantly evident in her abstract works, such as “Restlessness,” which depicts vibrant blue and red vortexes accompanied by dashes and splashes of color. It is a composition with complexity in nature, but at the same time, it exhibits a methodic structure, retaining a harmonic, rhythmic pattern. Similarly, “Feelings” is a dual piece which focuses on an eruption of blue and purple biomorphic shapes that resemble clouds or fungal growth. This can be seen as a hint that her abstract wo r ks h av e a n i n d i r e c t r e f e r e n c e to o u r environment, drawing inspiration from nature to create a contemporary result. Her father and both of her grandparents were accomplished artists. In her own words, she grew up within the confines of her grandfather's art workshop. Nearly everyone in her family was creating something be it a painting or a piece of music. It's no wonder that drawing and painting came very naturally to her. Looking back to her artistic childhood, Vachnadze said that art has always been the window through which she understood and interpreted the world. 76
