During this exciting 6 hour event, 'Tonantzin, A Call For Mother Earth', international artists featured their art, not just to honor the earth, but to bring awareness to the true environmental problems facing our planet and a chance to share the advocacy needed to save her.
Host and visionary Viviana Puello shared, "It is critical that we cut global greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and hold global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius, and this is not an easy task. It's going to require all of us to get involved, adopting new environmentally-friendly lifestyles. We need to support climate activists advocating for our planet and keep pressure on our leaders and key decision-makers; this is a critical moment. We have 30 years to work and make this happen so that our next generations can have a planet to call home. The time to start this work is now. " Puello speaks the truth and has brought a beautiful celebration of mother earth to give us all hope and direction in creating a healthier place for us all.

Was there a pivotal moment when you decided to follow your path as an artist?
“At 43, I decided to turn my attention to becoming an artist. I felt I would not get the kind of recognition as a poet that I had been working toward for twenty years. I had won 1st place in a national poetry contest when I was 14 years old. After wandering through my favorite galleries and museums while living in New York City, I had always had an interest in art. I had never taken any art classes, but I knew I had certain artistic talents. For a short time, I had the opportunity to work with an artist friend who taught me how to draw the figure. I was later thankful that I had not felt the need for taking formal art instruction because it allowed me to develop my own personal style working with pastels, the poor step-daughter of the art world”.

“Discovering the Mother Goddess” Pastel, 19” X 20”
Can you describe your work for us?
“After reading a book by Layne Redmond, When the Drummers Were Women, I devoted all my artistic attention to the support of the woman's movement. I had graduated as a history major. History at that time meant what happened no later than the time of the Greeks.
After reading Redmond, I realized for the first time that there were entire civilizations that archeologists had uncovered that go back to Neolithic and Paleolithic times. 10,000-30,000 BC The amazing revelation that astonished me was that the civilizations that existed then featured women as the driving forces that still shape our world today. They were the first to create agriculture by planting seeds in the ground and harvesting grains in the fall. They also practiced a spirituality that is opposite to what we have today. It was based on a female Goddess as the Creator of all things. It seemed perfectly logical because it is women who give birth to the mystery of new life. Another astonishing archeological discovery is that during this Paleolithic-Neolithic period in Europe and Near East, when the Goddess was worshiped, there is no evidence of warfare or violence. Everyone lived in peace. ; These discoveries form the underpinnings of my art…"
How do you think your work fits within society in our present times?
“There is no better moment in my lifetime for my art to serve as a means of validating the feminist movement than in the present time. I have been waiting a lifetime for this hour. For many “Creatress IV” Pastel, 26” X 19”

women, the feminist movement is scary. Women need men and male artists to give the movement credibility and acceptability, and respectability”.
What does your work aim to say?
“The Creatress series respects women as not only giving life but honoring the sanctity of life.
The Meditation series respects women for birthing new life and following pathways into their interior life.
The Mandala series directs our attention to the immense cosmic forces that overshadow our spiritual life”.
What inspired you to bring the subject of female empowerment to your art?
“It is the realization that women have been treated unfairly since the end of the Neolithic period. Because of patriarchy, men have done everything humanly possible to demean and disempower women for the last 5000 years”.
Who are your biggest influences?
“Judy Chicago, Sue Monk Kidd, and women who are gallery owners and curators who support feminist goals and the men who support them”.
Can you tell us about your creative process?
It begins with a thought, a way of picturing something common in an uncommon provocative way, Like a vanity desk
“Creatress I” Pastel, 26” X 19”
and mirror in a forest setting… and a standing woman glancing at her image… and flares outlining her body in the mirror.
What visual references do you draw upon in your work?
“Usually, it is a woman or, at times, also an animal. I sometimes include the shadow figure of the Goddess. I also use a large mandala… sometimes encircled by calligraphic inscriptions.
When looking back, what paintings emerge from your works that most relate to your life story?
“They include all the paintings that feature a forest setting that relates to how I live and how I have been inspired by the natural world surrounding me.
What advice would you give to a young artist following in your steps?
It is important to live as close to the natural world as possible. Observe the world around you and learn to identify all the wildlife and plant life and all the changes brought about by the rotation of the seasons. I live beyond the power grid and internet, so life is very basic…one solar panel.
I live in a one-room post-and-beam cabin in the woods that I built myself. It's best to have a spring for drinking water...I can also collect wash water from a cistern or rain barrel that collects rainwater from the roof.

You can also create a garden that will supply vegetables in the summer. The garden must be in a sunny spot. Usually, the garden will need some rich organic ground because the woods are usually very shallow...
I do most of my artwork in the winter, and I canoe, bike, hike, and cut wood in the spring and summer.
Anything else you'd like to mention that I didn't ask?
Thanks to the virus, I can work with few disruptions. It's great for working on paintings that never went very far among life's many distractions. But gallery shows have gone the way of the dinosaur.
I also have finally found a way to combine the power of the poetic world with the power of the visual image. At present, this

breakthrough is a combination of both digital and graphic rendering and completely original. It could possibly change the literary-art world.”

ward-winning master artist Monika Bendner presents to us a new series of works that uses bold colors and shapes to create an abstract portrait or Harlequins while implementing unexpected details to add dialogue and visual interest. She employs various mediums across her works with vividly colorful and dynamic shapes, including photography, painting, and mixed media. Her style breaks away from convention and instead seeks to create works that capture her subjects' emotional characteristics, viewed from her perspective using color and form to emphasize her message.
Opulent red, a gray color scheme, and geometrical shapes reference the Harlequin's theatrical essence, showcasing contrasting bold colors and a sense of melancholy with muted gray tones. The paintings draw the viewer in with figures that transcend age and gender, allowing freedom for interpretation while maintaining Monika Bendner's recognizable style of visually connecting disparate elements and creating visually stunning imagery.

Monika Bendner's new works create lyrical compositions that bring to life figures that inhabit the unconscious mind and have a symbolic meaning. In her Harlequin's series, the figures give us a sense of poetry and music in a visual symphony of bold colors, movement, and forms. The figure of the Harlequins depicted as the central theme has genderneutral geometric data and reminds us of the Italian comedy's popular character dating back to the sixteenth century and may allude to Bendner's observation of humanity. Monika's work's genre and creative process are based on her inspiration. Her interest is the interaction between the viewer and the image; thus, she creates art to involve her audience. In 'Harlequin,' there is humor, brightness, and energy reflected across her canvases as she places shapes and lines with masterful spatial orientation.
Monika has found the freedom of developing a wholly unique aesthetic. She creates multilayered, surrealistic experiences by applying a digital overlay and collage process using

I’m a fine arts artist deriving inspiration from the renaissance painters and the impressionist movement. Throughout my artistic life, I have dabbled with surrealism, abstract, you name it, I’ve tried it. Why? Because I love painting and want to enjoy every aspect of it.
Since 2016 when I was noticed by the Agora Gallery in Chelsea, New York, and was invited to exhibit there. I have been asked to exhibit all over Europe and have received various awards for my work. I also had the good fortune to be published in the ArtTour International Magazine on several occasions. I am very grateful to Viviana Puello for her help and advice and hope to work with her for many years to come.
One day I saw this young Swedish girl, Greta Thunberg, talking about climate change and was immediate with her. It took a child to lead the way.
I then decided that I would endeavor to create awareness of climate change, and I could do it through my art. Since that day, I have been producing works depicting natural disasters and showing the deterioration of our mother earth.”

aster artist and painter Kari Veastad's award-winning aesthetic experimentation focuses on abstract expressionism, reflecting ideas concerning nature, spiritual experiences, and the human psyche's complexities. Her work's core mission is to exhibit art that encourages ideas to shape and mold plans into something better, more efficient, and useful for the world.
Creativity has always been a part of Veastad's life. Nature and creation give way to the natural energy that Veastad uses to harness the power and the creativity that comes with it.
In 2009, Veastad sought to learn oil painting, giving a voice to her inner creator. Through that study, Veastad found a new passion for creating artistic representations. During that time, as her confidence and natural talent grew, she found she was missing something in her work. Through practice, research, and connecting with the inner self, she discovered how to paint intuitively.
24
SPRING 2021
Her work is inspired by beauty, movement, and interaction between body, soul, and spirit. Each piece often ends up in different directions between inner and outer landscapes, the mystery of life, affiliation to something bigger, or our feelings as is close and simple to all of us. Veastad's style straddles between representation and exploration of color fields with gestural lines. Blurred objects blend into the background while serving as a contrasting highlight to focus on a face or main subject on the canvas.
Leaving open interpretation to the observer, each of Veastad's works awakens a reflective perspective of the self in the viewer's heart and mind. Her creative process is very spontaneous as she allows her whims to dictate every stroke of paint. Veastad creates visual plays that take hold of the observer in a colorful visual embrace.
As her art has grown, so has her international recognition. Through private and public exhibitions and award-winning art pieces, Veastad continues to create. She hopes to bring expanded boundaries, open up others' imagination for

reflections, and expand horizons to see the world from a different perspective, reminding us of the vast universe we live in and all the love given to us both in inner and outer landscape. Her work seeks to bring joy, inner peace, and awareness to all the love and light we don't see but surround us all the time.
Awarded Arttour International Magazine's Top 60 Master in May 2019, her international presence has continued to grow, bringing her work to a global audience. Her work has continued to gain success through awards and exhibitions.

Jean Jacques Porret
O
by Viviana Puello
riginally from Switzerland, award-winning artist, sculptor, and engineer Jean-Jacques Porret was exposed to art from the day he was born to a family of art and antique collectors.
Surrounded by beautiful antiquities, statues, and artwork every day, the seed of art was planted early, and he began carving wood when he was just six years old. He specialized in creating magnificent works with the lost wax technique of casting Bronze. Bronze primarily interested him "because it is the most demanding material which is responsive and sweet to the touch."
After acquiring his engineering degree, Porret came to New York, anxious to learn English and build a life on his terms. There, his career was set into motion, which soon after led him to Chicago. Porret's thirst for knowledge took him to museums all over the world, absorbing all he could and sharing philosophies with the most prominent artist of the time.
As an artist, Porret is continuously evolving, and his work and style have changed over the years. From sharper to a softer expression of molten metal. Porret muses, "If my approach seems figurative, I do not aim for a reproduction of the human form: what interests me is to transmit an abstract feeling or an idea rather than an image of reality. I use recognizable forms to arouse emotion, to give birth to sensations. I consider myself, in fact, an impressionist." This vision drives his work, and each sculpture imbues depth and intensity.
Though he initially started his career by working in Bronze, Porret began experimenting with various stones. Dissatisfied,
“#444 Fille de Joie” Bronze
with his sculpture's bases, bought a granite and marble company, to have complete control in his work's creation. Yet this choice also evolved his work, and these various stone elements have become an integral part of his creative process and vision.
Many of his signature pieces with their soft angular movements are harmoniously mixed with sharply defined textures captivating thoughtful designs with an immortal richness, boldness, and unsettling beauty. Porret's work is infused with his personality, unsuppressed by traditional rules; his work is original and buried within each piece is the poetry of his work. Creating figures of humanity in the abstract, each form courageously melting into the next. Emotions created from fragments of granite or marble jutting and piercing through the bronzes bring the concepts of nature and man together, creating a stunningly modernistic and seductive interpretation of the human form.
When viewing one of his sculptures, the human form seems to leap out at the viewer. Jean-Jacques describes this movement as "rhythm in space." Porret said of his artistic method and vision, "I work without any preconceived idea…(I) continue instinctively, with one shape leading to the next, until the figure is simply rhythm in space".
Jean-Jacques Porret's bronzes can be seen in innumerable collections throughout Europe, Japan, and the United States. He was commissioned to create the bronze sculpture for the American-Swiss Friendship Award. The "Abage Encyclopedia of “#445 the Jive” Bronze

Bronzes" describes Porret as "an independent thinker, whose bronze sculpture might be described as a naturalistic, modern blend, in which forms are simplified to their essential rhythms and elements."
"Lost wax is a slow multi-step process that has endured only because of the results… knowing that my bronze sculptures will outlive me provides a comforting whiff of immortality. I believe everyone wants to leave something behind." Porret's work is entirely his, unique, crafted with his strong individuality and melded with tremendous sensitivity. His work and art, a dedication of exacting professionalism, and unswerving integrity have guided a life of total artistic commitment and personal expression.

n 2012, Brazilian photographer Luiz Todeschi left behind a career in business administration to dedicate himself fulltime to photography. Since that time, his masterful work has garnered him acclaim around the world. His photographs have been exhibited in Brazil, the United States, France, and Italy, among other countries. They have garnered accolades that include Certificate of Honor to Artistic Merit by Artetra Artistas Associados Italy during the Art Paris Event; APAVE Contest Portraits of Brazilian Nature (2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017); Photo Team Romania's Decisive Moment in Eastern Europe 2015; and Certificate of Excellence - 31st Aravita online art contest 2019 in San Diego, California, USA.
Throughout it all, Todeschi has stayed true to the guiding philosophies of his passion. Among them the idea that “The magic of photography is precisely to believe that what we are recording is something that has been presented only to us. When we become instruments of photography and art we feel with the heart and preconceived cultural and social values.”

This unique mélange is no accident, but a purposeful exploration. As Todeschi states, "I am a true seeker of self-knowledge, of constant learning, of the expansion of consciousness and of service to others. We can do so much better. My desire really is to see the people of our country and our Planet, as well as Mother Nature, being treated with respect." These principles, in addition to the exultant works that derive from them, give voice to his claim as one of the foremost voices for our planet and its unfathomable depths of individual collectiveness.

endy Cohen's practice focuses on the relationship of shapes, lines, forms, and colors with the r e l a t i o n s h i p o f n a t u ra l a n d u r b a n surroundings that are communicated in an abstracted language.
Everything, in reality, is a conglomeration of shapes, and by integrating shapes into a cohesive body of colors and forms in conjunction with collage elements, Wendy aims to convey her own fetish, poetry, and harmonious rhythm to her paintings, developing playful imagery with an emotive and inventive sensibility.
With a sense of curiosity, exploration, and discovery, a lyrical genre is created that results in spontaneous mark-making and an exciting interplay between the shapes, forms, and colors imbued with the ebb and flow of textured brushstrokes and the alchemy of a variation of colors. Observation, intuition, and imagination are key to Wendy's process as she responds to the

anice Alamanou's fine art photography is an exclusive blend of actual and perceptual of the world we are living in. Her artwork interprets our time, both physically and mentally, in a beautiful but meaningful way. This is portrayed in the range between landscape, street, and portraiture to her amalgamations titled 'Soul Elements' - irresistible collages of the environment with people.
From subtle color to vibrants and monochromes, the art tells the story. She has also pioneered her photography with precious metals, hand gilding 24 Carat gold, palladium, and copper. The addition of copper is fascinating as the patina will verdigris over time, changing the image's color in years to come.
Janice Alamanou's photography is a collection of artworks that will continue into centuries as a tribute to this time - the beauty around us and the hardships we faced. She accomplishes this in great style by using her unique blends of images and symbols to make her art compelling to look at and intriguing to discover its meaning.

rans Frengen’s work is ever evolving. Making use of his trademark technique "Fumagine." The method makes use of the smoke patterns left behind by flame on canvas, being used at the same time with conventional painting to create a unique mixed media result. The usage of fire as an immediate tool in creating his works is an idea that has both practical and theoretical implications. He uses an element connected with the notion of destruction to paint, shifting its original context and taming it to promote creation. The resulting images have many figurative references, most often animals, figures, and plants painted accurately, despite the unpredictable patterns that arise from the traces of smoke. His dedication to this unique technique has led Frengen to such virtuosity on this medium that he freely creates with blending images and forms while also introducing general references like dots, squares, and brushstrokes that complement the aesthetic result of the artworks.
The conceptual concept of his artistic work is accordingly vibrant, including many ideas connected with our world, nature, and the environment in general, something arising from the frequent implementation of plants and animals. It is an act that showcases his deep interest in our planet's life cycles and the preservation of our natural environment seen in works like "The protected group." Such pieces bring forward the elegance and beauty of animals and the dire need to save the ecosystem and respect the fragile equilibrium that has been violently unsettled by human action. Thus, his body of work transcends the realm of pure artistic expression and aims to deliver a crucial message to contemporary society, the message of love and respect towards the nature that shelters us.
Leaving us to reflect on the shadowing results lingering in our community, affecting daily lives.

I use fumagine - in nature, a plant disease with soot deposition on the leaves - aflame painting, fire, one of the dramatic of the four elements, to conflict with the reality of uplifted paint blobs, dots of paint, and edits of the canvas. n this project, I am working with a cell phone camera to create 3 x 3 GRID images of Lenoir nude in the studio and landscape. I began to make multiple images in a grid in 1967 while beginning my MFA in Photography Thesis at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. I came back to grids in 1992 when I combined 24 images with the Nimslo Camera, and later a Grid with the Action Tracker

I have been photographing the nude for over 50 years, exploring different cameras, processes, and techniques. From the beginning of my working with the nude, I have been interested in making an image that says something, not just a pretty image. I have been interested in multiple images and how time is a part of the dynamic of these images.
In this set of images, I am working with this one model, Lenoir, as she is spontaneous in her reactions and emotions in the making of the images. I find true sensuality in working with her.

Being an artist, I think I'm sensitive to vibrations. I believe that nature produces imperceptible sounds we receive through the ower subconscious mind and can be very persistent. My creative mind isn't very straightforward but a way full of surprises.
In summertime 2020, I connected with Venice Art Factory, and they make a beautiful exhibition space available in Venice. I started to re-write my concept, 'The Green Art Project.' work on different subjects such as people, landscape, abstraction, and spheres using my Form fragmentation style. In the present work, you can find two allegories: fragments, which are an allegory to people, and the spheres that are an allegory to our planet.
Each fragment represents a person. An isolated element may not have meaning, but when put together, they represent a figure or have a sense. Similarly, one solitary person has not the same power as having thousands of people with a particular goal to impact the planet, either positively or negatively.

The spheres are fragmented to convey the idea of our planet's fragility. We all should be aware of this catastrophe and do something to avoid our planet's destruction. Because of this, I want to invite people to take care of it, not precisely for the planet's sake, as we are much more fragile than planet earth, and it will still be here when we are gone. After spending hour after hour melting and pouring wax at exactly 200 degrees F, measuring essential oils in graduated cylinders and combining every scent with the perfectly matched healing crystal, our founder, Dr. Liz Lehman, decided she might one day need her kitchen to feed her family. With Aluminate Life growing rapidly, she transformed part of her home into The Lab, an open, creative and inviting space where her team, could pour candles and mix essential oils by hand, and package them with love and share the light.

Michelle Larsen “A New Revolutionary Mixed-Media Technique With Paper Sculptures on Canvas”
M
ichelle Larsen has developed a new revolutionary mixedmedia technique to create paper sculptures on canvas. She uses oil paint with bold colors that she applies to her sculptured paintings. The effect creates a threedimensional artwork that protrudes from the surface. This sculpted painting style is a technique that Michelle Larsen developed exclusively for herself. She draws inspiration from the land dwellers in her proximity, drawing from their human struggles and their life in the mountains. Her art also heavily draws from the western lifestyle and the beauty of nature.
Michelle Larsen graduated from the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design in Denver, Colorado. By 2009, Michelle Larsen began her fine art career and honed her art toward finding her signature style. In 2011, she started sculpting canvases with paper to create a three-dimensional painting. Nowadays, she has fully immersed herself in being a celebrated mixed media artist using paper to create a sculpted canvas.

Larsen engages viewers on various levels. Her works can be seen as a painting, a sculpture, or just countless paper wrinkles manifesting into a complex and beautiful piece of art. She transforms shape and movement into a protruding creation that speaks to her audience. She is definitely one to look out for in the art industry, and with each passing day, she is honing her craft and innovating the industry in her way.
she has garnered so many accolades with her various artworks. Her passion for art and supporting other innovators in the field had led her to open her own gallery in Prescott.
Prescott fully brings out the beauty of Michelle Larsen's art as it is nestled among pines and surrounded by western landscapes; it is a magical place that inspires her unique art. Over the years,

“M
y work, both in Art and Architecture, is an ongoing exploration of the concept of Layers. I have always been aware of and fascinated by Layers in the Natural and Built Environment. Layers in Space and Time. Layers in Intellect, in Emotion. Synthesis and Interpenetration of Form, of Solid and Void, of Chaos and Order, of Simplicity and Complexity.
My inspiration appears to me spontaneously, involuntarily, provoked by sensory influences. Unannounced initial thought may derive from a piece of music, written text, built or natural environment, person, mood, event, or any combination of the above. A concept gestates for days or weeks until the appropriate media becomes clear. I create a sketch and try to understand it for some time. The piece then comes out of me very quickly. Several pieces result, produced in rapid succession.
A formally trained architect, I received my Bachelor of Architecture degree from Kent State University. I have studied and created art all of my life. I draw inspiration from compositions in nature and the built environment. I am intrigued by the natural tension between opposing forces along with the following themes: Chaos/Order, Free Form/ Precision, Random/Planned, Solid/Void. My influences come from the modern architecture and art world and include Corbusier, Meier, Eisenman, Pollack, Chihuly, Warhol, Arnoldi. Much of my work is done in a small series and normally executes very closely to the first flash of light that appeared. I have noticed that the many passions in my life similarly manifest through me.”

Patricia Karen Gagic
“Twilight Zone” Mixed Media, 48” X 60”
A
by Tiarra Tompkins
ccomplished and celebrated International Contemporary Artist, Author, Humanitarian, and Speaker, Patricia Karen Gagic, has been awarded and recognized for her writing and metaphorically fused vivid abstract paintings she speaks of as "The Karmic Revolution." Her impressive global art career is evidenced with her exhibitions around the world, and now she is ArtTour International's Artist of the Year.
Gagic's style derives from a creative perception of facing the challenges, dynamic richness, and quality, which emerges from working with layered textures and intricate shadows. Her processdriven paintings reflect the intense connection to the world around her, and in particular, to the natural environment. Using the depth of each visual as a symbol of that within ourselves. Gagic's use of color connects the viewer to the emotional impact of genuinely allowing us to be present in the natural world. Gagic's artwork is a balance between the intense bold color palettes required for shadows and neutral tones which complement and make each canvas a soothing yet powerful visual with the essence of an intense silence we often experience in such elevated heights of nature.
Her use of innovative color is the identifying factor in this portfolio. Cool color hues depict glacial landscapes, including ice melts and lakes, as well as warmer shades directing our gaze to the resemblance of the northern lights. Her realistic reflective tones of ice and snow create depth and texture. The variety of themes demonstrate an appreciation and spiritual connection to nature evident in often preferring concepts that portray the hidden details found in natural formations. Gagic uses a unique technique resulting in seamlessly overlapping layers with detailed corners for each object. Every “Chaos N Sync” Mixed Media, 40” X 30”

display has a different thickness and blends smoothly into the background space. Fluid brushstrokes create a sense of mystery and wonder which the viewer can connect with.
Gagic's art displays her mastery of the Matisse and French Masters' Palettes, which often produce great retrospective views and natural formations. Her work is the combination of many notable styles, all bringing together a culmination of explosive color. Fluid layers of acrylics showcasing a photorealistic look are paired with blended hues for a more expressive depth of space. Her art also points to something higher than logic-based conventional perceptions, as Gagic, concerned about the emergence of form and method, provides exceptional distinction in her work to bring feelings and life to the viewer through texture, light, and color.
As a distinguished artist on many levels, Patricia Karen Gagic has served as a member of the Ontario Cabinet for Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. She is a member of the Sir Edmund Hilary Foundation Board of Directors and The Divon Academy. She is also an active Rotarian. Patricia is the recipient of the YMCA Peace Medal and is recognized by WXN (Women's Executive Network) as one of the Top 100 Most Powerful Women in Canada. She was awarded the BMO Arts and Communication award in 2015, Royal Bank Champion in 2016, and BMO Arts and Communication in 2017. In 2018, Gagic was inducted into the WXN Hall of Fame. She is a member of the IWF (International Women's Forum) Toronto Chapter. Patricia is a CoFounder with Serena Bufalino in the not for profit HELP HEAL HUMANITY. Reducing and Reusing Basics
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle for Sustainable Living by Viviana Puello
A
common misconception when thinking about reducing one's waste footprint is the belief that recycling paper, plastic, aluminum cans, and glass bottles is the best way to do it. In reality, recycling ranks only third in the most impactful ways to reduce material waste. The actual order is: Reduce, Reuse, and then Recycle. Each is beneficial, but placing them in this priority order helps us improve our material waste impact.
While a lot of us recognize the importance of recycling and reusing, reducing actually offers the most benefit to our environment and our pockets!
What is Reducing all about?
It's about reducing your consumption to reduce your overall waste footprint. Each consumer good is created with multiple by Viviana Puello products and materials. All those materials and products require energy not only during their creation but also during their transport to you, the consumer. Thus, by reducing our usage of products, we eliminate multiple channels of energy. This is the reason that purchasing your groceries from local markets reduces gas and packaging waste, and allows you to help the economy of your local farmers.
Reuse
Reusing goods is a great help to eliminate the demand for the manufacturing of new goods, while reducing the energy that goes into recycling. Next time you feel like you're done with an item, remember that it could still be useful to someone else. Hence, donating clothing and household goods to your closest thrift stop allows for the creation of more jobs and help for someone else to find items for a fraction of the price.
Recycle
Recycling is the best way to help keep material from the landfill. Be conscious when you purchase any item to make sure it can be recycled or reuse it. Go for the best option: to buy articles made of recyclable materials, whenever possible. A great economic benefit of recycling is a growing industry that continuously creates new jobs for the research and processing of recycled materials and also for the manufacturing of new environmentally friendly products.
We can all implement a conscious environmentally friendly lifestyle by keeping in mind this list of priorities—reduce, reuse, recycle. By doing so, you will be reducing your waste footprint and help us preserve our planet, our only home.

Artists Going Green
W
by Livia Owens
hat can artists do to reduce their carbon footprint without interfering with their creativity?
Here are eight simple actions artists you can take right now to start going green:
1. Reuse, Reinvent, Recycle
Some of the most famous artwork has been created using discarded, odd items (Duchamp's Fountain, for example)
5. Reuse Panels and Canvases By Painting Over Unwanted Artwork
Recycling old paintings done on canvas by painting over them can inspire you to create something in bolder colors needed to conceal old paint.
3. Preserving Acrylic Paints
Avoid throwing out dried acrylic paint unnecessarily by sealing paint in plastic wrap, palette lids, or impermeable containers.
7. Avoid Using Aerosols and Spray Paint Supplies
Aerosols no longer contain chlorofluorocarbons. Instead, this toxic chemical has been replaced by volatile organic compounds that damage the environment.
4. Properly Dispose of Paint
Never flush unusable paint down the toilet or dump them into sinks. Also, never toss artist paints in dumpsters or outdoor garbage cans where animals and pets can access them. Improper disposal of art supplies that are not ecofriendly can poison the soil and plants and reduce clean water access.
8. Energize Your Studio with Solar Power
Small artist studios can be easily powered by installing solar panels on the roof. Besides, relying on solar power to illuminate your art studio can save thousands of dollars in energy bills.

2. Purchase Supplies from Eco-friendly Art Stores
You'll find bamboo products, recycled paper, and drawing pencils made with reforested wood at these green shops.
6. Recycle Packaging Materials
Get creative with bubble wrap, cardboard boxes, Styrofoam, and other paper items to mail things. Cut up large cardboard boxes and practice painting or drawing creative ideas on pieces of cardboard. You can also reuse packing material to pack your products for mailing.

The Need for Earth Day T
by Tiarra Tompkins
here are hundreds of days honoring different things that many of us find important. There is Administrative Assistant Day, or International Pancake day, to the more somber days like Veteran’s Day, honoring those who serve. Many of us can agree that no matter what the day, there is something extraordinary about setting aside some time to appreciate something that matters to us. What about Earth day?
Earth day is no different, and the importance of its significance has only increased in necessity. Our planet continues to face many different challenges, and each of us has a responsibility to understand better what our planet needs.
So, why is Earth Day important? It is a chance for us to pause and remember the great things she does for us each day.
Remembrance is something that brings each of us back into the moment. It gives us pause to consider things that, in our busyness, we have often overlooked. This planet, our Earth, has always been here for us. It can be an easy thing to take for granted a planet that homes us, provides air to breathe, and gives us all the space we need. Earth day helps remind us that it is crucial to recognize Mother Earth for the gift it is.
That is what makes Earth day so unique and so important. It brings us back to the moment. Each year our environment gets a little more precarious, and yet each Earth day is a new opportunity to recognize the footprint we make on our planet every day. You can make a huge difference by being a part of Earth day and taking time to adjust your thinking, evaluate and adjust your lifestyle, and be present in each day, knowing that every day is a chance to give life back to our planet.
