ArtReach takes professional artists into K-6 schools in San Diego County where the focus is on providing free, high-quality standards-based workshops to schools with no visual arts resources. Since 2008, ArtReach has provided over 30,000 artmaking opportunities to local students. artreachsandiego.org INTRODUCING THE LITTLE ITALY MOBILE APP! Little Italy App features an extensive list of local restaurants, services, parks and ongoing events. Download the app today and get a preview of Mission Federal ArtWalk. The free app is on iTunes and Google Play.
With its friendly residents, stunning geography and myriad cultural opportunities, San Diego is always a wonderful place to be. And on the weekend of Mission Federal ArtWalk, it’s even better! As the largest, locally based financial institution exclusively serving San Diego County, Mission Fed is proud to support this festival of more than 350 visual and performing artists, all gathered in Little Italy in Downtown San Diego. This is the eighth year that we’ve had the pleasure of bringing this free festival to the community, and we’re proud to have a branch right in this popular neighborhood. Mission Federal ArtWalk is really a treat for the senses. Where else could you enjoy the work of hundreds of visual artists within a 17-block stretch, talk with artists about their work in such a relaxed setting, and enjoy an impressive lineup of performing artists? You might even find art that adds beauty to your life – and reminds you of how much fun you had discovering it. On behalf of Mission Fed’s volunteer Board of Directors, employees and customers, I’d like to thank everyone on stage and behind the scenes of Mission Federal ArtWalk, and invite you to join us for all the sights and sounds of this amazing experience. Sincerely,
Debra Schwartz President and CEO Mission Federal Credit Union

Mission Federal ArtWalk is pleased to present this year’s Featured Artists, chosen to capture the artistic diversity of the fine art festival.
Winter Leaves, Photography
DAVE NESS
DaveNessPhotography.com tent #859, 861 A former engineer and business professional, Dave Ness found his passion behind the camera by capturing the peace he found in nature and sharing it with others. Since 2007, Dave has participated in numerous art shows and his work has been featured in various galleries in California. He utilizes camera techniques that capture an impressionistic representation of a scene, giving his work its calming and healing effect on those who enjoy it.
Water Splash, Acrylic, Oil Shall We Dance, Sculpture
Metamorphosis I, Drawing, Pen & Ink
DEANNA RAE
DESARAE LEE
theraecollection.com tent #870 Deanna Rae is a sculpture artist whose inspiration derives from her years growing up on a working ranch where she cared for and trained young horses. She earned her degree in Equine Science and traveled to Spain in her last year where she had the opportunity to study some of the greatest artistic masters and immersed herself in the culture. Upon returning to the US, she continued to pursue her artistic interests and studied figurative drawing which translated into expressive movement in her sculpture.
DesaraeLee.com tent #888
Known for detailed crosshatching in her pen and ink drawings, Desarae Lee was born and raised in the Rocky Mountains of Utah. Many of her pieces find the light in the darkness and the idea of walking between good and evil continues to affect her work today. While studying art education at Brigham Young University, Desarae began to experiment with many different art mediums but her exposure to very prominent illustrators introduced her to her true voice in pen and ink.
IRINA NEGULESCU negulescu.com tent #719, 721
Irina Negulescu was born in Romania and began secretly drawing on the walls behind her family’s furniture or the back covers of books since unlined paper was scarce. Her art continued to take priority through her academic career. She was accepted into a prestigious art school, Scoala Populara de Arta in her native city of Constanza. Irina immigrated to the US in 1989 and became a citizen in 1994. She attributes being raised during the harsh years of Communism with her ability to capture the soul and essence of her subjects, especially children and the female figure.

LESLIE PIERCE
LYNDEN SAINT VICTOR
artistlesliepierce.com tent #878
Originally from New York, Leslie Pierce spent years of her childhood at the Natural History Museum where her father worked as a scientist. The exposure to museums influenced her decision to become an artist. She is motivated by contemporary culture and the rapid pace in which information and images are absorbed. Leslie has been expanding her series called “Code Defied”, which focuses on how this information hits our retinas and the different ways images can be reduced, re-assembled, translated and interpreted by thought.
stvictordiaries.com tent #805
With no formal art training, Lynden Saint Victor started to paint as a way to deal with a transitional time in his life in 2002. He considers himself more of an illustrator and a story teller, expressing his journey through life onto the canvas. He believes that expression through his art was his calling that took him years to accept. In 2003, the first formal presentation of his work resulted in a sold-out show, media coverage, multiple gallery offers and a publishing contract. Lynden is also an internationally syndicated cartoonist under another name.
SARAH STIEBER AdelmanFineArt.com/ sarah-stieber tent #715, 717
Before graduating with a fine arts degree and a concentration in Psychology from Boston University, Sarah spent time living and painting in Venice and Florence, Italy, inspired by the masters’ works that blanket the cities. Sarah’s artistic talent flourished at a young age; she earned titles in national art competitions as a child. Today, her contemporary style of electric realism is a spectacle of saturated colors, a kaleidoscope to her world of wishful seeing. Her work shines a brilliant light on daily life, depicting her subjects in a moment of overcoming adversity and achieving the mindfulness and playfulness that reality often corrodes.
Crescence Bracelets, Jewelry
THERESA KWONG tkmetarts.com tent #145
Theresa Kwong started her professional career as an architect after receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from the University of California at Berkeley. She spent over twenty years creating 3-D objects on a macro scale, but a career shift into metalsmithing allows her to continue creating 3-D objects – this time on a micro scale. Theresa had the opportunity to study under numerous masters at the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts and is inspired by various organic forms like a blooming flower or seashell or tensile structures like the San Diego Convention Center.

ArtWalk’s stages come alive with performance art this year. We’ll be featuring live painting before your eyes. Three of the spotlight performances are:
ELECTRIC RAIN PROJECT COLLABORATION
Featuring dancing by The PGK Dance Project, and painting by Sarah Stieber, this merging of two art forms transforms dancers in a choreographed movement and painting performance. The lines blur between visual and performing art as dancers are colored by dripping paint “raining” down on them. Featured Artist Sarah Stieber, represented by Adelman Fine Art, adds to her body of “Electric Rain Project” works of art live and onstage:
Grape Street Dance on the EDGE Stage: 3:30pm Saturday and Sunday Sarah will be in Adelman Fine Art’s booth: #715 & #717
LANA CHROMIUM: BODY PAINTING
Since 2011, Lana Chromium has been working as a solo fine art body painter and will be demonstrating her amazing work on a live model on the Date Street Stage. Lana was born in Russia and studied at the Stroganov Moscow State University of Arts before moving to San Diego where she fell in love with the city’s people and the coastal landscape. In addition to body painting, Lana continues to paint on canvas in different mediums: acrylic, oils, watercolors and ink with one of her favorite techniques being cold batik.
STEPHEN FISHWICK
Stephen Fishwick’s ability to infuse color, movement, and sound into each of his paintings creates an aesthetic style all his own. In a career that has spanned over two decades, Stephen has earned widespread acclaim, but what makes him most proud are his philanthropic endeavors that have raised over $1 million for different charities. Date Street Stage: 1:30pm Saturday and Sunday Visit Stephen in his booth at the festival: #884
Date Street Stage: 11am Saturday and Sunday Lana’s booth at the festival: #308
LIVE PLEIN AIR PAINTINGS OF LITTLE ITALY/ARTWALK SCENES
Several Mission Federal ArtWalk artists will paint live in their booths throughout the weekend, creating scenes of Little Italy and the event. Attendees will be able to see and purchase these works during the two-day festival. You will find an updated list of the participating artists on the event website.

MARBLED PAPER This year, Mission Federal ArtWalk is excited to offer an interactive art project in partnership with Artist & Craftsman Supply and San Diego Visual Arts Network! The Interactive Art booth will be located on India near Date Street (close to Caffé Italia). Marbling is an ancient art and in history it was a closely guarded trade secret known only to initiated artisans. The effect occurs by floating an array of colored paints on top of thickened water (known as the “marbling size”) and then transferring this floating painting onto paper or fabric. Hundreds of years after its invention, marbling was used most often on the inner covers of fine books as a stylish transition between cover and content. Its popularity began to wane in the late 1800’s when books began being mass produced. Fortunately, a few expert marblers decided it was better to write down instructions than risk losing the art of marbling forever. You can join the Artist & Craftsman Supply team at the
painting. Each design is as unique as a fingerprint and perfect for all ages! The Interactive Art booth will be located on India Street near Date (close to Caffé Italia). interactive art booth during the festival and experience this craft firsthand. Learn how to create impressive patterns in minutes and you’ll leave with your own mini-marbled
