First Code Academy AppJamming This course aims to empower students through teaching them problem solving using technology. From introducing fundamental computer science concepts, applying Design Thinking process to utilizing AppInventor as a language, we guide students to apply problem solving skills in their daily lives. Adapting a curriculum used in Silicon Valley, we cover user-centric design and mobile app development. Students receive personal guidance from our professional trained instructors in thinking through algorithms, decomposing problems and formulating multiple solutions. Web Development Designed for anyone who is curious about programming or what powers the Internet, the JavaScript 101 course teaches the basics of web programming through a series of fun and engaging projects. Students start with structuring web content with HTML and styling with CSS to gain a solid foundation in static web programming. They then move on to learning fundamental computer science concepts using JavaScript. By programming dynamic web applications using JavaScript, students can visually explore and experience each line of code to firmly grasp the concept. They can also be proud of their creations by making their projects live online to the whole world.

Elephant Community Press Students in these workshops are key contributors to ECP’s magazine, The Student Trumpet, and the next issue will be published in June 2017. Over the course of the term, students will write on five new creative writing topics across different text types, including stories, newspaper articles and poems. With each topic, students will focus on different writing skills and techniques appropriate to their level. They will read and discuss examples and then apply the techniques to their own writing. Students will go through the whole process of brainstorming, planning, drafting, revising and editing their pieces and will select two to be published in the magazine. As students move up in the program, they will experiment with increasingly difficult text types and develop their independence and peer support strategies. The skills we focus on will change from term to term, giving students the opportunity to write many different pieces and build up their writing portfolios. Grades 2-4: •

The Genius Workshop At The Genius Workshop, our programmes strive to nurture, integrate,
and build a bridge between students who are left and right brain thinkers by enhancing their innate creativity. Focused on discovery, process, and
conceptual understanding, they can apply what they learn while exercising their creativity through different technical projects. With resources and under the
guidance of a professional team, students are encouraged to explore a field of interest they have or have not been exposed to, invent items that can improve how the world works now, and create using their boundless imagination to bring projects to life.
Mechanic Workshop D (Rec-Prep)
Using the LEGO DUPLO Education sets, students will build different LEGO
projects that resemble machines or objects found in the real world. Through
the fun hands-on building experience, students can visualize and apply different simple machines to develop a better understanding of the mechanisms inside
machines. Different models will be built in Mechanic Workshop A, B, C, and D. Engineering Workshop: Forms of Energy (G1-3)
Students are introduced to the non-renewable and renewable energy sources
that are present in the world. The application of energy will be further studied
through building and operating LEGO machines powered by different forms of
renewable energy. Experimentation will be done by students using these LEGO projects for investigation of the advantages and disadvantages of various energy sources.
Animation Academy (G4-6)
This program introduces students to the production of stop motion animations using LEGO and iPads. Students will learn basic filming techniques, how to create and develop screenplays, as well as scene design. Throughout the
program students will work in groups to plan and make their own stop motion production.

French L’aventure commence! Participants embark on a fantastic adventure to discover the French speaking world through song, dance, and self-expression. This workshop introduces students to French and Francophone cultural elements in context through interactive play. Students learn the language by doing the fun things that native speakers do.
L’aventure continue ! Participants continue the adventure by developing creative projects appropriate to their developmental level: adapting songs with new words, creating skits, making up dance moves, and telling stories through pictures and video clips. Participants explore themselves, their environment, and far away places to learn about culture and acquire a new language. Please note: For both classes, returning students build on material covered in previous sessions through new activities and projects. With two instructors present, students are divided into groups in a manner that best serves their needs.

Da Vinci Innovation Labs Our greatest leaders are routinely our greatest problem solvers. From Steve Jobs to Jack Ma, grand visions are accomplished by those who can break large problems into smaller, easy to complete tasks. This process is commonly referred to as “Computational Thinking” and is the core learning objective of Da Vinci Innovation Labs. Additionally, underpinning the fun and enjoyment of all Da Vinci courses is the development of critical STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) skills and abilities. Robo Fun is designed to immerse young students in a fun and supportive environment where they gain foundational skills and an appreciation for technology, robotics and computer programming. The goals of this program include the development of fine motor skills, patience and perseverance, plus collaboration. We also strive to foster and develop an inquiry-based approach to learning in our young students. Basic Robotics is an entry level course for students new to robotics and programming. It is designed to immerse students in a hands-on learning environment that is both challenging and nurturing. The goals of this course are to develop an introduction to computer programming or “coding” logic, to understand how to read and produce basic flowcharts critical to digital decision making, and to understand the immense potential of our modern and future technology to greatly impact the world around us. The primary robot used in both RoboFun and Basic Robotics is the Lego EV3 robot and a visual programming interface called the EV3 Programming Environment. Advanced students in Basic Robotics will also work in Python.

Moo Kwang Taekwondo Moo Kwang Taekwondo was founded by Grand Master Tae E. Lee, 9th Dan Black Belt of World Taekwondo Federation
(W.T.F.) in Canada. The interpretations of the words themselves are: “MOO” is non-stop and eternal, “KWANG” is brightness, “TAE” refers to the feet, “KWON” refers to the hands and
“DO” means method or way. Along the concept of Moo Kwang,
students are expected to follow five basic tenets of Taekwondo: courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control and loyalty.
Skills will be taught based upon various belts, in a fun and interesting way. Students will be taught basic techniques
including stance, blocking, punching, striking, kicking, free
sparring and self-defense. They will have the opportunity to progress through the belt stages. Through the Moo Kwang Taekwondo system students will learn to handle conflict
through peaceful means and also improve their confidence, focus and self control. Instructor: Master Yu
Instructor at CDNIS since 1999 Black Belt 6th Dan Extra costs
Material Fees: Taekwondo Sparring Equipment is optional for advanced students only.
Examination: Instructors will recommend capable students to take a paid belt promotion exam. Exam fees are different for each levels. Exams are not obligatory.
