The American School of Bombay (ASB) seeks an innovative and collaborative high school social sciences teacher with a growth mindset to join our team of international educators Teachers at ASB embrace the mission of providing an inclusive and dynamic learning environment, encouraging students to become critical thinkers, knowledgeable inquirers, and global citizens The role includes teaching IB DP Psychology and fostering student-centered, inquiry-based learning
What You Will Do:
Teaching and Learning:
● Employ a range of IB-aligned teaching strategies that support student learning, independent inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving
● Facilitate courses through a culturally responsive lens, creating an inclusive environment that values diverse perspectives
● Inspire creativity and critical engagement by encouraging students to question assumptions, explore multiple perspectives, and understand complex social and global issues
● Integrate technology to enhance learning experiences, resonate with digital-native students, and support the IB learner profile attributes of being knowledgeable, open-minded, and reflective
● Foster a collaborative, student-centered environment that promotes discussion, empathy, and awareness of global perspectives and ethical considerations in line with the IB mission
● Tailor instruction to student’s individual needs, fostering growth in key IB competencies such as research, communication, and self-management
Curriculum and Planning
● Design engaging and meaningful social sciences units that align with IB standards, focusing on real-world applications and inquiry-based learning that enables student choice and voice.
● Integrate the IB core components (Theory of Knowledge, CAS, and the Extended Essay) relevant to deepen students' analytical, research, and critical thinking skills.
● Use an interdisciplinary approach that bridges social sciences with STEAM and other subjects, fostering a holistic understanding.
● Document all units and resources using ATLAS Rubicon and collaborative tools such as Google Team Drives to support curriculum consistency and teamwork across the department.
Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities
● Actively engage in team, divisional, and school-wide meetings to promote a collaborative professional community
● Engage in continuous professional learning to stay current

● Promote collegial interactions using strong interpersonal and intercultural communication skills, fostering collaboration and shared learning
Student Wellbeing:
● Lead a grade-level advisory to support student social-emotional growth.
● Chaperone students on ASB’s week-long experiential learning trips.
● Supervise students during breaks, lunch, and other transitions, ensuring a safe and supportive environment
● Lead or support co-curricular activities before or after school to enrich student learning and development.
Who We’re Looking For? The ideal candidate will bring:
● A Bachelor’s degree in education, or a related field, with teaching credentials.
● At least three years of relevant teaching experience in a K-12 accredited school.
● Familiarity with the International Baccalaureate framework.
● A commitment to DEIJ and SEL learning practices and a global mindset
