The American School of Bombay (ASB) seeks a middle school mathematics teacher with a growth mindset to join our team of collaborative international educators This individual will create and deliver meaningful learning experiences aligned with the AERO Common Core Math Standards, leveraging engaging, real-world applications and forging interdisciplinary connections. Emphasizing student-centered learning, this teacher will foster critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity while supporting students' social-emotional well-being As a valued member of the ASB community, this educator will contribute to a positive and inclusive environment, collaborate with colleagues, and participate in co-curricular activities and experiential learning opportunities

Your Responsibilities at ASB:

Teaching and Learning:

● Utilize a repertoire of teaching skills and knowledge of adolescent learners to deliver engaging instruction in middle school math

● Provide scaffolding while encouraging independent thinking, inquiry, and problem-solving.

● Use a culturally responsive and inclusive approach to assess content and learning.

● Inspire creative and critical thinking by encouraging multiple problem-solving strategies

● Leverage digital tools to enhance math learning and engage digitally adept students

● Create opportunities for student collaboration to foster empathy and cultural understanding

● Tailor instructional methods to meet students' developmental needs and build on prior knowledge

● Maintain confidentiality with honesty and integrity

Curriculum and Planning:

● Design relevant, real-world units that encourage student voice and choice

● Align the curriculum with the AERO Common Core Math Standards to ensure meaningful learning outcomes

● Provide interdisciplinary, hands-on experiences that connect math with other STEAM subjects

● Embed concepts and skills that promote a holistic understanding of mathematics

Collaboration and Professional Responsibilities:

● Engage in professional development to stay current in educational practices

● Promote collegial collaboration through strong interpersonal and intercultural communication

● Participate in professional communities to exchange best practices and reflect on instructional strategies

● Collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve student outcomes and document units in ATLAS Rubicon

● Use Google Team Drives to manage collaborative planning resources.

● Actively participate in team, divisional, and staff meetings

Student Wellbeing:

● Lead a grade-level advisory to support students' social-emotional development

● Chaperone students on ASB’s week-long experiential learning trips

● Supervise students during transitions to ensure a safe environment.

● Encourage students to engage with the community beyond the classroom.

● Lead or support co-curricular activities to enrich student learning and personal growth

Who We’re Looking For? The ideal candidate will bring:

● A Bachelor's degree from an accredited program and relevant teaching certification.

● A minimum of three years of teaching experience in a K-12 accredited school

● Experience teaching math and integrating STEAM principles

● An understanding of young adolescents' developmental needs, treating each student as an individual

● A commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice (DEIJ) and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) practices
