European Oak

More and more beautiful over time

Oak is a tree species that grows in most of the world and it is commonly found throughout Denmark. There are more than 200 di erent species of oak. Oak is among the most durable wood species in Scandinavia.

The oak tree made its first appearance in Denmark about 10,000 years ago. Historically, oak has been used for many di erent purposes such as building houses, ships, floors, tools and furniture. And thanks to its high tannin content, oak is also used for tanning hides and skins and for storing and ageing wines and spirits.

Oak is extremely hard, strong and heavy. This makes oak ideal for furniture, but even the hardest woods can become scratched and scu ed because wood is a natural material. If oak furniture is well taken care of, it will last for many years. The wood will become more beautiful as it develops a patina over time. Oak furniture is elegant and exclusive, and it blends in perfectly with modern Scandinavian home décor.

Villa Collection Denmark uses FSC TM-certified oak (FSC-C166612). FSC TM is a certification system that provides accreditation for responsible forestry. It is your assurance that wood and forest-based products bearing the FSC TM label are sourced from responsibly managed forests and other controlled sources.

For the BAST series, we intentionally selected oak as it creates stunning natural grain patterns as well as solid, durable furniture. So t, rounded contours and unique details unite to create an aesthetic expression.

The BODO series includes a desk, a stool, a high stool, a co ee table, a bench and a lounge chair cra ted from oiled oak, featuring rounded contours and stylish details. Oak wood is a strong and long-lasting material that develops a patina over time. The warm glow melds beautifully with most home décors, adding cosiness and charm.

A coat of vegetable oil is applied to each BODO product that makes it more resistant to the negative e ects of daily wear and tear. The oil penetrates the wood and forms a surface barrier that protects against liquid and abrasion, but do not allow water to sit on your BODO product. Wipe the surface dry with a hard-wrung cloth. The products are made from FSC™-certified oak (FSC-C166612).

The paper is shredded and twisted into paper cord – a strong and durable natural material that was invented during the Second World War, when it was di cult to obtain the materials normally used to make cord. Paper cord is typically used to make home accessories and furniture. The material can either be used undyed or dyed in beautiful colours that enliven the décor. It is easy to work with and can be used in a wide variety of ways, including for the design of the stylish hand-woven products in the Villa Collection Denmark and Villa Styles ranges.

Paper is a key material in the VAREL series, which consists of a decorative vase and a side table. The series elements are inspired by the Scandinavian design style. The sculptural VAREL side table with a cone-shaped base makes a decorative addition anywhere in the home, and is ideal as a side table next to an armchair or as a bedside table in the bedroom. The product is made from FSC™certified paper and other controlled material (FSC-C166612).

The VEM series features two rugs and a pou e. The pou e is made of 60% jute and 40% cotton, and is filled with polystyrene balls. It is handwoven, meaning that no two are exactly the same. A mirror can be used as a functional and decorative element of the décor. It helps to open up the space and make it seem bigger and brighter.

Vasto

The VASTO mirrors have a black iron frame and are perfect for the bedroom or hallway. The back of the mirrors features hinges that allow you to hang them on the wall.

The large oval VASTO mirror is suitable for free-standing or hanging on a wall. At the back of the mirror is a stand that supports the mirror when positioned on the floor. The stand can be folded up and removed if the mirror is hung on the wall instead.

On the back of the small oval VASTO mirror you will find 4 hinges so that the mirror can hang both horizontally and vertically on the wall.

The oblong VASTO mirror with a rounded top and straight base is wider and stands stable on the floor. A removable base is included so that the mirror can stand freely on the floor.

The word “interior” comes from the French word “intérieur”, derived from the Latin word “interior”, which means “inner”. Interior décor helps create the inner soul of the home.

Stoneware is made from clay and fired at a high temperature. Nature is the inspiration for our stoneware vases and planters, and this is made evident in decorations reminiscent of leaves, poppy seed pods, and other such motifs.

The vases are hand-cra ted by skilled and experienced artisans. They are shaped on a turntable, and the decorations are made by hand and applied. A unique reactive glaze is then applied to the vases, which are fired in a kiln. The reactive glaze behaves di erently from product to product, so the glaze and colour of each piece will vary.

SIGT is a collection of two hand-decorated vases in heavy hand-blown glass. Inspiration for these glass vases with their raw, matte surfaces comes from dri twood and the way that the sea wears down the stones on the beach over thousands of years. These beautiful decoration vases are cra ted from paper mache and finished with hand-painted decoration. The vases are designed for dried flowers like the eternity bouquet - if you wish to use fresh flowers or plants, place a water-proof container inside the vase. Clean only with a dry cloth.

Glass is an amazing material that allows endless experimentation with shapes and colours. It is one of our favourite materials, which is why it features prominently in our range. Glass is made from melting sand into a liquid. Next, a variety of colours and other ingredients can be added to the mixture, depending on the desired result. Glass is alluring, just like the sea or a stunning blue sky.

Glassblowing is an ancient cra t that is still practiced to this day. The glassblowing technique is what makes each glass product unique. A hollow iron tube is dipped into molten glass, and air is blown through the tube to create a form to be shaped.

We adore the artisanal look of the glass products made with this technique. Every glass product in our collection is made with love for this splendid material.

HVILS is a series of mouth-blown glass vases made in Europe by skilled glass artisans. With their wide bases and narrower, tubular tops, the vases invite the flowers to spread out, revealing them in their full glory.

The series consists of two stunning vases in triple layers of coloured glass: clear, white and honey. Three more vases in ultra-clear glass with the same decorative shape have now been added to the series: Two with a smooth surface in di erent sizes, and one with ridges.

In addition to the vases, the series has been enhanced with pillar candles inspired by the same design aesthetic. The vases and pillar candles complement each other beautifully. The candles are produced in Europe.

Inspiration for the vases has been drawn from the Nordic nature: The beautiful brown hues of amber. The colour of sand dancing in the wind. The encounter between a heat wave and an ocean wave.

Sculptural stoneware vases in three of the year’s hottest colours: dark brown, green and dark blue. The glazing is reactive, which means that no two vases are alike. Di erences are due to shape, firing temperature and location inside the kiln, and since a reactive glaze is more noticeable on edges, this e ect is very important for these three vases. The vases are stunning individually as well as styled in a group.

Rattan, water hyacinth and bamboo are quality materials that can be made into decorative planters, baskets and lanterns.

Inspired by the beach

The THUM plant pots are made of stone, sand and polyresin. The pots are reminiscent of beautiful sandy beaches, where the sun shines, the sea sprays and the breeze blows. The so t, organic shapes are inspired by pebbles, rounded by the waves of the sea.

The pots are suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. When using outdoors, a hole needs to be drilled at the bottom of the pot for draining water. The pots can withstand down to -5°C.

The plant pot provides the opportunity to create a green and vibrant environment in the home or outside on the patio or balcony.

Rattan indoors and out

Make nature a bigger part of the décor with charming planters cra ted from durable rattan. Green houseplants and colourful flowers create more cosiness and life.

The planters are lined with a plastic bag and are therefore suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. If they are placed outside, you can make water drainage holes in the bag.

There are 300 di erent rattan plants in many di erent sizes. Rattan is a natural product and as such it is not water-repellent, so if the planters are placed outdoors they will develop patina and take on a grey finish over time, depending on the weather.

Robust and decorative planters in two sizes. They are heavy, sturdy and solid which makes them suitable for large plants. Make nature a bigger part of the décor with charming plant baskets in rattan.

Water hyacinth is a plant that grows in tropical waters such as ponds, lakes, and ditches. It is harvested at regular intervals to ensure that it does not take over the waterways, which require sunlight to maintain their biodiversity.

A harmonious silhouette

The lanterns feature a practical glass insert at the bottom to house a LED light or a stearin candle. The lanterns have a beautiful and harmonious silhouette, and a so t light is di used through the fine bamboo to create a cosy, calm and warm atmosphere. The lanterns are not weatherproof and should only be used indoors, such as inside the home or in a greenhouse.

The handwoven VEM rug is available in two sizes and is made from 75% jute, 20% chenille and 5% cotton. Green, natural and rose shades are repeated in the rug, creating the same unique and decorative pattern as on the pou e. With OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certification.

The Faroese climate is predominantly mild with cool summers and mild winters. The weather is fickle and can quickly change from mild to stormy – which is part of its charm.

The Faroe Islands is a country that is located in the middle of the immense, thunderous Atlantic Ocean. The archipelago comprises 18 principal islands connected by tunnels and ferries.

The raw, harsh and unspoiled nature is entirely unique. The air is fresh and clean, and a very special calm reigns here. Green mountains, roaring sea and dramatic cli s are some of the hallmarks of the enchanting landscape.

The Nordic style is at the core of Villa Collection Denmark’s design philosophy, with nature’s materials, colours and expressions as the focal point. Our collection includes gorgeous Faroese sheepskins that are selected for a very special reason.

Faroese sheep are very robust and live out in the wild all year round, largely fending for themselves in the harsh, changeable weather. The wool of Faroese sheep has two layers – an inner layer, which is short and so t, and an outer layer, which is coarser and longer. The Faroese sheepskins are health-certified and meet EU veterinary requirements.

Faroese sheep have never been subject to industrialisation, which means that the colour of the skins varies greatly, and each one is unique. We’ve deliberately not opted out of any colour combinations, as the di erences are just what is so amazing about the skins of the almost wild Faroese sheep.

Rattan

Villa Collection Denmark uses only Indonesian natural rattan, which is renowned as a durable but lightweight material. Rattan is one of the world’s fastest-growing natural materials for making furniture and interiors and is surpassed only by bamboo. And this makes it an ideal material. Rattan is easy to work with and can be steamed and bent in a wide variety of ways.

The age of the rattan plant is what creates the di erent appearances of the products. The stalks

from young trees are lighter and thinner, while the material becomes darker and thicker the older the rattan plant is.

VINKA and WERNA are sculptural table lamps and floor lamps in natural and black rattan. They are designed to be beautiful even without use of the light source. A perfect match for any cool, Scandinavian décor with their beautiful, so t and warm light.

An exquisite ceramic collection

Raw nostalgia

VAEST is an exquisite matte black ceramic collection with a beautiful and functional style that takes us back to the 1960s. The spikes and matte black glaze give the series elements a raw expression – an exciting contrast to the Scandinavian style characterised by natural colours and natural materials.

The series is handmade in Portugal, where the products are cast in a mould and hand-polished by skilled artisans, a ter which they are dried and fired for the first time in a 1050 degree Celsius kiln. The products are then glazed and fired again at 1000 degrees Celsius.

The BARK dishes are cra ted from river stones, to create a very special look that is rustic, raw and unpolished. There is a beautiful contrast between the bowls’ rough exterior and their smooth interior.

The natural stones found along rivers are smoothed so that they become flat on the bottom. The bowls are then hand-polished so the surface achieves a smooth mirror finish.

coconut wax and rapeseed wax, and they burn for longer and are cleaner compared with the certified palm oil wax traditionally used in our scented candles. We’re working on replacing palm oil with rapeseed wax in our entire range of scented candles.

The fragrance oil is solvent-free and contains pure extracts and essential oils. All fragrance oils are supplied with eight scented sticks that will keep your home smelling beautiful for up to eight months.

• Cut the wick down to 1 cm before you light the candle and keep it at a length of 1 cm while the candle is lit thereby avoiding smoke.

• Never leave a burning candle unattended or in the company of children or pets.

• Always cut o the high edges thus preventing a flickering flame that can result in soot.

• Always place groups of candles with a minimum of 10 cm between the wicks to avoid overheating which leads to melting or running candles.

• Never place your candles where they will be exposed to draught or on a radiator as this can result in soot and a running candle.

• Always place your candle on a fireproof base and away from inflamable items keep the top of the candle free from used matches, as these may act as a wick.

• Always make sure that the candle is put out before leaving it and put the candle out with an extinguisher to avoid soot.

All our candles are now made in Europe, which makes perfect sense as we use natural, biodegradable European rapeseed wax, the lovely unique ceramics with reactive glaze finish are handmade in Portugal, and the jars for the scented candles in crystallized stearin originate from Italy. We look forward to sharing all our exciting new products with you.

60–80% of the energy used in the production of the new scented candles is sourced from wind turbine and/or solar thermal energy. All wicks are made from OEKO-TEX® standard 100-certified cotton, and the new 100% stearin crown and pillar candles bear the Nordic Swan Ecolabel. Colourful stool cra ted from paper cord. Paper cord is a strong and durable natural material that is made with twisted strips of paper. This wireless LED lamp for indoor and outdoor use is easy to move around, which is ideal when light is fading on the decking, for a bedside table, or anywhere else in the home. Press and hold the button to increase or decrease the brightness to get the lighting that suits the mood. The base of the lamp is in aluminium with a silicone on/o button and dimmer, and the shade is made from PP plastic. The lamp has an IP44 rating so there’s no need to worry if you forget it on the patio overnight.

Handmade lamps in papier-mâché

Villa Styles lamps are made from 90% recycled cotton pulp and 10% binder. Papier-mâché is a lightweight material, and for these lamps, it is made from a mixture of soaked cotton mass and a binder. The mass is shaped by hand into decorative lamps, which means that no two lamps are exactly alike. Then, the lamps are dried and given a protective coating.

Using papier-mâché as a material for lamps and other decor objects makes it possible to create a multitude of beautiful

shapes and to achieve a very special handmade and rustic look that truly stands out. The coloured papier-mâché lamps from Villa Styles spread colour, joy and light in the home.

The lamps are GRS certified. The Global Recycle Standard (GRS) is a certification standard for products made with recycled content. GRS certification verifies that a product contains at least 20% recycled material and that it meets certain social and environmental criteria.

Stylish stoneware dinnerware from Portugal

The stoneware dinnerware set from Villa Styles is made in Portugal by ceramists with extensive know-how and experience. Each piece is shaped and polished by hand, creating beautiful and unique stoneware dinnerware with a smooth, fine finish. A ter this, the reactive glaze is applied and the stoneware is fired in the kiln at 1150 degrees. The reactive glaze makes each product unique. The appearance depends on the shape, kiln temperature and placement inside the kiln.

All glazes are created from scratch by our Portuguese manufacturer. The carefully-selected glazes feature life-a rming and exclusive colours that appeal to the

eye. The stoneware range can be mixed and matched to create a personalised dinnerware presentation. The wide range of colours o ers something for every taste, from vivid tones to more muted shades.

The factory recycles the water used in production, and the heat generated by the ceramic kilns is fed into the rooms where the ceramics are dried, so that all gas energy is recycled. The factory makes its own clay and recycles all residues by mixing them with new clay and using the mixture for new products so that nothing is wasted.

We love the imperfections and organic shapes of nature, and we’ve channelled it into this beautiful stoneware candlestick. It was inspired by trees with branches extending up towards the sky. The crowntop candles are made of 100% stearin and feature a graphic look with narrow, coloured stripes in red, blue, green or yellow. They add colour to the home in a discreet way. The candles carry the Nordic Swan Ecolabel.
